Chapter 75

In the early morning of Igewent, on the apartment building of Nanyang Flower Road, Dorothy and Gregor were having breakfast together in the living room. This was one of their rare moments of gathering these days.

While having breakfast, Dorothy yawned from time to time. Seeing this, Gregor asked with concern:

“Dorothy, you look very tired and listless these days, and you come back later than before. Is the academic pressure too heavy?”

“Ahh… I guess so. To get good grades, one must work harder. It’s quite exhausting…” Dorothy said as she ate a piece of bread. Seeing her state, Gregor encouraged her:

“It seems studying is indeed not easy. You’ve worked hard, Dorothy. Remember to balance work and rest, don’t focus solely on your studies. Sometimes, it’s also good to relax a bit.”

“Mmm… It’s fine, Gregor. You know my goal is to get into college. As a girl, how could I enter the gates of college without putting in more effort and hard work? After all, I can’t let you down.” With that, Dorothy finished her bread and quickly drank a cup of milk.

“Alright, I’m done eating. Bye~”

Saying this, Dorothy picked up her small satchel and walked out the door. Seeing this, Gregor sitting on the sofa couldn’t help but smile with relief.

“Hehe… Dorothy is slowly growing up. I hope she can really get into college in the future.” Gregor thought to himself, feeling very happy as a parent to see his child so diligent and studious.

Dorothy was glad that St. Amanda School was located on the western outskirts of the city. If it were in the city center where Gregor could easily go, he might visit a few times and realize she was known as the “Queen of Absences,” which wouldn’t be ideal.

Similarly finishing breakfast, Gregor put on his coat and left the house as usual. After descending downstairs, he headed straight for the city center. In about forty minutes, Gregor arrived at the Cedar Shirt Building.

Gregor entered the building, received a key from Ms. Ada at the front desk, and smoothly entered the An Yin Bureau through a secret entrance. He then warmly greeted his colleagues.

“Hey, good morning, Brandon. You look like you didn’t sleep well last night.”

At the desk corner, Gregor greeted Brandon, who seemed somewhat distracted. Brandon forced a smile in response.

“Yeah… More or less, Mr. Meyshos. These past few days haven’t been great for rest.”

Seeing Brandon’s condition, Gregor’s eyes turned, glanced around, and leaned slightly forward, lowering his voice.

“Brandon, listen. What I’m going to say shouldn’t make you feel uneasy. During my nighttime patrols, I heard some rumors about you that weren’t very good… Well, they say your personal life is sometimes messy and not very proper… Listen, if you can’t hold back, find a girlfriend soon to settle down. Constantly acting recklessly is not only bad for your health but also affects your work. Getting sick would be even worse.”

Gregor spoke with a tone of advice. Brandon was slightly stunned but smiled in return.

“Haha… Thank you for your concern, Mr. Meyshos. I’ll consider what you said.”

“Haha, of course, we’re colleagues. Alright, think about what I said. I’ll be off now.” With that, Gregor left Brandon’s desk and went to greet others, while Brandon continued to sit there, his gaze gloomy as he watched Gregor leave.

“Hmph… You should be more concerned about yourself…”

Brandon thought to himself darkly. He was currently waiting for a signal. They had previously agreed on a signal. When the signal came, he would execute his final task within the An Yin Bureau, return to the society with rich spoils, and gain the grace of honor.

“Come on… I can’t wait any longer… I don’t want to stay here another moment, doing this boring job. If it weren’t for my boring and uninteresting father, I shouldn’t be here. The society is where I belong, only the society can satisfy my desires…”

Scanning his colleagues with a gloomy expression, Brandon silently thought to himself. His heart was already stirred, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the flower signal.

As he yearned, Brandon checked his watch, which showed it was ten o’clock in the morning.

“Soon, soon, just half an hour left. The signal should arrive soon, the signal that will lure the hunters away…”

Suppressing his excitement, Brandon silently thought. Just then, an unexpected voice came.

“Gregor! There’s an urgent matter. Please come to the Bureau Chief’s office immediately!”

Among the crowd, Elena approached Gregor, who was chatting idly with his colleagues, with a hint of urgency. Hearing Elena’s words, Gregor was momentarily stunned, then replied:

“I understand.”

As they spoke, Gregor and Elena hurried down the corridor together. Not far away, Brandon saw this and was slightly taken aback.

“What’s going on? Isn’t it supposed to wait another half hour for the flowers to arrive? Could it be something else urgent?”

Confused, Brandon stopped a colleague walking past him and asked:

“Tony, it seems there’s going to be another operation. Do you know what’s happening?”

“Oh… It seems similar to last time. Ms. Ada received flowers again. I just saw it upstairs. It’s probably another big case.” Tony responded to Brandon. Listening to Tony’s words, Brandon frowned slightly, confusion showing on his face.

“It’s really flowers… How come the action has been advanced?”

In the Igewent branch of the An Yin Bureau, in the Bureau Chief’s office.

Gregor, Elena, and Turner stood in the office. A bouquet of flowers was placed on the desk, reminiscent of the scene on the morning of Burton’s case, except that Bureau Chief James was absent.

“Another delivery of flowers… Don’t those guys have any new ideas? Are we going to clean up after them again? Hmph…”

Turner complained openly as he looked at the flowers. Gregor, looking at the thick message card in the bouquet, slowly said:

“This time, it might not be the same…”

As he spoke, Gregor pulled out the message card, only to discover it wasn’t a card but a thick piece of paper folded into a card shape.

Gregor and Turner exchanged glances, then slowly unfolded the paper. They realized it was getting larger as they opened it, and upon fully unfolding it, they found it was a map!

The three of them looked at the map with grave expressions. After examining the map for a few moments, Gregor quickly said to Elena:

“Elena, hurry and send a report to the Bureau Chief, requesting immediate action at the flooded dock. We can’t waste any time. Hurry!”

“Yes!”
