Chapter 750

Chapter 750: Act 106 – Eternity VII

“Ahhhh, Sister Alorze, I’m sorry, please, please, please let go…”

With a loud rumble, suddenly the entire ceiling of the Ice Hall collapsed, and a massive figure came crashing down along with a shower of ice and snow. Then Brendel saw Alorze leap down from above, casually walking over to the pile of snow. She reached in with her hand and pulled out a tail, then, with a whoosh, dragged a lump of meat out from within.

Everyone then realized that it was actually a dragon—a round, plump dragon. Its size was enormous, almost two stories high, but it didn’t possess the sleek elegance of Alorze when she transformed into a dragon. Instead, it resembled a gigantic spindle, with two pairs of wings like those of meat chickens Brendel had seen in the supermarket freezer in his previous life, the only difference being it had some scales on it. Alorze had grabbed it by the tail and dragged it out, its short and stout limbs flapping on the ground while emitting a scream that sounded like a pig being slaughtered.

Brendel swore that he would never forget this scene in his life because it was just too ridiculous. In fact, in his previous life, he had never seen the true form of this dragon because it was so cunning that players often ended up lying on the floor before they even met it, just like the noble soldiers buried beneath the ice alongside Anlek.

On the other hand, Shi Do and Haruz had their eyes wide open, hardly believing what they were seeing, as if their entire worldview had been overturned.

Shi Ta placed his tiny paws on his head and cried out without tears, “Let me go, Sister Alorze; this is so embarrassing!”

His voice echoed through the cave, but it was hard for others to believe that such a powerful roar was actually a plea for mercy.

“You know it’s embarrassing, then just look at what you’ve done to your lair! You actually set traps in your own nesting place, you’ve embarrassed the face of dragons!” Alorze snorted coldly and raised her little fist to slam on Shi Ta’s head. Her pink fist looked weak, but when it hit, Shi Ta flew out like he had collided with a meteor, crashing against the fragmented ice wall at the center of the hall with a loud bang.

All the Cruz nobles witnessing this scene felt their hearts pounding; those who had offended Alorze before were especially chilled, as nearly everyone thought: My God, what kind of violence does this little girl have?

But Alorze truly was very violent; she seemed to be mad with rage, just like an angry sister—if there was any chest to fill—with a plump dragon. Of course, this beating was relative to the perspective of a dragon; if it were done to anyone else, even Veronika would probably have been reduced to a pulp.

The educational action lasted for half an hour before Alorze finally dragged the bruised Shi Ta over to meet Brendel. As Brendel had expected, Shi Ta transformed into a small chubby figure, but surprisingly, he had the appearance of an elf. An elf who devoted themselves to beauty would likely be wishing to stab him with a sword if they saw him like this.

“I know you, human. My sister has mentioned you; she said the big sister has a crush on you—” Shi Ta began, his voice husky, but before he could finish, Alorze grabbed his wrist and executed a heavy shoulder throw, slamming him onto the icy surface. She smashed the little chubby boy to the ground, then clapped her hands like she was shaking off a bag of flour. Looking up, she replied, “His sister is Flourfa, my lifelong partner. You should have met her; you stole her earrings, remember?”

Brendel knew that the golden people reproduced asexually, and in a sense, the spouses of dragons were allies, but what was this guy talking about, claiming he stole Flourfa’s earrings? He turned around and noticed that Veronika and the others were looking at him strangely—what kind of behavior was this for a big man to steal a lady’s earrings, especially when the lady was a dragon?

The men’s eyes were filled with admiration, while the women present had somewhat complicated expressions. “You’re really amazing, Mister Brendel,” Shi Do sincerely praised. “Earrings are very important to dragons; legend has it that Tiamat and Bahamut were once twins. Martha bestowed two earrings upon them, one called Order and the other called Destruction. However, since the Age of Chaos, the separated earrings have been endowed with the symbol of love. I don’t know if this saying circulates only among humanity, but it’s surprising that Lord has personally acted to verify it. For scholars, the unity of knowledge and action is an important aspect.”

Brendel just wanted to cover this scholarly lady’s mouth, but Alorze wore a mischievous grin. She reached out to stroke Shi Do’s cheek, praising, “Little girl, you’ve spoken very well.”

“This is… a compliment…?” Shi Do was slightly stunned and flushed. She knew the customs between dragons, that elders placing their hand on the face of younger ones was a sign of approval. Of course, in some sense, Alorze was indeed much older than her.

“Correct, you’re very clever.” Alorze nodded, “This is my friendship to you.”

All the Cruz nobles present had their eyes redden upon hearing this, and Brendel couldn’t help feeling a bit envious. The friendship of dragons, like that of silver elves, has a time limit, generally lasting a mortal’s lifetime, and it also has a frequency limit—usually only once.

But this meant that as long as within their ability and preference, a dragon would help a mortal fulfill one wish.

Shi Do was still in a daze when Veronika gently patted her shoulder. Shi Do was the one she had taken out intentionally for training; she really liked this young girl. The entire empire regarded her favorably as the next heir to the royal library and an important core member of the future Blood Cross Society—of course, the main reason was the Bud people’s emphasis on her.

However, Veronika’s fondness for her stemmed from pure affection for her juniors. Faina was too willful, and the Chancellor’s daughter was too obsessive, especially the latter; ever since she learned what the other had done in Brendel’s territory, she felt regretful but could only send the latter back to the empire. No one understood Brendel’s status in Erluin better than Veronika; among the empire’s nobles, only she knew of Brendel’s other identity in the Loop of Trade Winds, and his connection to the People of Silver.

Erluin was no longer the Erluin of the past; with the acquisition of Valhalla, it was destined to rise as a new empire. Sometimes Veronika even felt she could vaguely see the figure of the Fire King Gilt or the Lionheart King Eke of the Erluin people in Brendel.

Thus, she held great hopes for Shi Do. Shi Do was pure and kind, far more suitable than Faina and the other Chancellor’s daughter to act as a bonding link between Cruz and Erluin.

Unfortunately, no one else thought as far as she did, nor could they understand her thoughts, so Veronika could only keep some of her plans to herself for now.

At least everything that had happened until now proved that her choice was correct. In her view, every person around this intriguing little fellow indeed was extraordinary; he not only maintained close ties with the People of Silver but also earned the favor of the dragons.

And Shi Do almost immediately benefited from this, for regardless of whether she had a wish to fulfill, the friendship of dragons would have a profound impact on her entire life. Once this news made its way back to the empire, the qualification for an important member of the future Blood Cross Society might transform into being the next president of the Blood Cross Society.

However, Brendel interrupted the conversation between the two. He knew that this discussion couldn’t go on any longer; this little female dragon was definitely enjoying watching him make a fool of himself. She knew full well that the earrings were merely something he had acquired by chance. He suddenly remembered something and asked, “Wait, Flourfa is his sister, then who is that big sister he’s talking about…”

As Brendel spoke halfway, he suddenly saw the golden flames in Alorze’s eyes blazing, and his heart sank. The little female dragon bared her sharp white teeth at him, making Brendel realize it was better not to continue with this question.

However, he felt a strange sensation and couldn’t help but glance at Alorze awkwardly.

“What are you looking at?” Alorze glared at him and coldly huffed, “Do I have flowers on my face?”

“No.” Brendel quickly shook his head. Joking around with this little female dragon was no laughing matter. Shi Ta was still lying on the ground with a bruised face; after all, he was a dragon, born with golden rank strength, and his pure physical power had nearly reached the level of a perfect body after developing elemental properties. If that little female dragon decided to go after him, she could probably turn him into a pile of fragments in an instant.

“Hmph, you don’t need to be surprised. I said before, I have a certain fondness for you. Even as a backup mating option, it wouldn’t be unacceptable.” Alorze blushed slightly and continued.

However, this statement was too bold; Shi Do was directly stunned into silence, while Xi seemed a bit flustered, and Veronika looked on with a smile at this ‘little couple.’ As for the other Cruz nobles, their gaze on Brendel was now akin to looking at a dragon.

Or perhaps at this moment, they might really be less surprised than if they had seen a dragon. Some bolder knights from the Swordbreaker Knight Order even gave Brendel a thumbs up.

“If you shut your mouth, no one will think you’re mute,” Brendel couldn’t help but respond through gritted teeth.

Alorze shot him a glare and lightly snorted, “Who allowed you to speak to me like that? But fine, I can’t be bothered to argue with you—”

With that, she turned and departed, disappearing from the hall in the blink of an eye.

“Mister Brendel…” Shi Do was stunned, as if shocked into silence. She struggled to utter a single sentence: “You…”

“You don’t need to say anything; this is all a misunderstanding,” Brendel understood that this little female dragon had played him once more.
