Chapter 751: Act 107 – Eternity VIII (Fifth Update)
Alorze had not walked far when Brendel called him back. The reason was simple—they still needed to extract information from the fat dragon Shta. Unfortunately, this timid young dragon refused to see anyone except Alorze, forcing Brendel to enlist the help of a certain young female dragon to drag him out from his storage.
However, the very first question asked after dragging this guy out left Brendel stunned.
“What! You’re saying you exchanged a star-shaped stone for a dragon’s heart and gave it to Anlek!?” Brendel stared at the bruised and plump figure in front of him, feeling an overwhelming chaos akin to a vast African savanna filled with stampeding antelopes.
The little chubby dragon nodded innocently, as if the star-shaped stone he had traded was just a pebble picked up from the river.
“Despicable, shameless, cunning.” He mentally noted a description but felt it was not enough, having to add: Truly insidious and shameless.
“What is a star-shaped stone?” Veronika’s expression resembled that of someone who had just eaten a raw crab. She instinctively knew that this so-called star-shaped stone possessed some issues, but despite searching her memory, she could not find any related information.
She thought it must be a type of gem. There indeed existed a kind called star sapphire, but that was just a regular luxury item and seemed unrelated to the current situation. Moreover, Veronika felt that Anlek, even if his brain had been swept by a dragon’s tail, would not confuse a star sapphire with a dragon’s heart.
“Have you ever heard of the Elemental Boundary?” Brendel turned back with a peculiar expression, asking.
“I know, the Elemental Boundary is the boundary of Vaunte. Lady Martha established the codex over the sea of magical energy to create a stable world. The four elemental realms guard the four directions of Vaunte, but scholars generally believe these four directions are not in a spatial sense; the visible part of the elemental boundary should be above the sky.” Shi Do answered softly.
“Good answer. People generally believe the Elemental Boundary is an abstract or theological concept, but in fact, it exists in reality and is home to some special creatures. It is said that massive as mountains, the Celestial Whales swim through the Elemental Boundary, but they can only be seen on the day of the March Equinox.”
Brendel paused as though he were stuck. He clearly found this matter too absurd to accept. “As for the star-shaped stone—it is actually a somewhat euphemistic term; its scientific name, to be precise, should be the excrement of a Celestial Whale.”
“Ha?”
The Crusian noble officers present felt they had either seen or heard all the bizarre things in their lives today. Some could not help but ask, “Lord, are you saying this… giant dragon… deceived Anlek with a piece of Celestial Whale excrement?”
This statement was somewhat humorous, and laughter erupted among the crowd.
However, Brendel shot a glance at the stable Shta. If it were just like this, it would indeed only be considered a somewhat amusing anecdote, but he knew more. He cleared his throat and continued, “Actually, it’s far more than that. The star-shaped stone… although it’s waste, saying it’s priceless would not be wrong; it’s just that… it’s useless to most people.”
“So, Brendel, what exactly is going on?” Veronika furrowed her brow suspiciously and asked carefully.
“The Celestial Whale feeds on energy in the Elemental Boundary; its excrement is actually a mixture of residual energy… However, the Celestial Whale consumes an immense quantity—it needs to ingest enough magical energy each day to sustain Bud’s floating city for a hundred years, which is why there’s an endless supply of magical energy for it to draw from…” Brendel paused and asked, “Do you know what it means for magic to be so variegated?”
Charles suddenly changed his expression: “Wait, no way?” he murmured.
“You guessed it right. The star-shaped stone… is an unstable, extremely explosive super bomb. Most star-shaped stones will be destroyed upon entering Tiamat’s laws. I don’t know where Shta got this thing, but I know Anlek is about to have a serious problem if he plans to install that thing on his precious portal…”
Brendel replied, stunned.
Veronika also paused slightly: “How powerful is it?”
Brendel turned to look at her. He wanted to ask if this female commander knew about a weapon called a thermonuclear weapon, but she clearly had never heard of it. So he thought for a moment and described, “It’s enough to level Rustra from one end to the other completely.”
“Are you joking?” Veronika blurted out. Behind her, the Crusian noble officers seemed frozen in shock, as if petrified.
“No, everything I said is true. I don’t know how this thing appeared in Vaunte; theoretically, it should have ceased to exist before entering this world.” Brendel mumbled. Suddenly remembering something, he turned back instinctively and saw the huntress Peiya go pale: “My younger brother…”
“We need to find a way to stop them.” Veronika reacted immediately. “Martha is above, this will completely level Frostbloom Forest… Brendel, the seal at the center of Frostbloom Forest…”
Brendel nodded. He had thought of this long ago and could not help but shoot Shta a fierce glance. Did this guy even understand the situation? Once this thing exploded, not only would they be in trouble, but even that damned dragon would turn to ashes.
They could not escape from this place in a short time.
“Those guys sneaking around my treasure certainly deserve this end.” Shta pouted, responding defiantly. Indeed, his so-called treasure consisted of food hoarded from several caves. By Martha, this frost young dragon wasn’t lying at all; anyone who dared to touch his food would have to face his wrath, willing to destroy the world in retaliation.
As for leveling the Frostbloom Forest, what did that matter?
“Aren’t you the guardian here?” Shi Do asked incredulously, glaring at the little chubby dragon.
Shta smirked and replied, “Hmph, it’s not like that guy promised me delicious food every day, and that’s why I agreed. But what he gave was terrible. Don’t think I don’t know it was all made with magic—those foods are just awful, I’ve wanted to quit for a long time. The funny thing is those idiots think they could lure me out by going to the Slumbering Shrine; they’re really a bunch of fools. I’d rather take a nap than deal with them—Whoa!”
Before he could finish his sentence, he received a heavy blow to the head. Alorze glared at him, furious, and slapped him on the back of his head, nearly knocking this little chubby dragon down to the icy layer below. “You idiot, do you have no sense of dignity as a dragon, selling yourself for a bit of food and acting as someone’s watchdog?” She scolded harshly, “And you actually handed over such an exciting thing so casually; that dragon’s heart was just junk; couldn’t you have just tossed it away?”
“Exciting thing?”
“Exciting thing…”
“Exciting thing…?”
Brendel, Shi Do, and Veronika all thought of this idea simultaneously. What was exciting about it? This thing was deadly! Did you two not understand where the problem lay? Brendel felt somewhat powerless, realizing that letting this young female dragon take the lead in the conversation was a very wrong choice. He quickly interjected, “Wait, let’s not talk about that first,”
“I don’t know.” Shta answered cleanly, making it clear that fat dragon was lying.
This time, Brendel had no intention of letting Alorze handle it. He turned back and called, “Haruzé, come over.”
The young prince walked over with a puzzled expression, holding the Lion’s Fang, and asked somewhat confusedly, “Teacher, is there something you need?”
“You go over and persuade him to tell us Anlek’s whereabouts.” Brendel pointed at Shta.
“Me?” The young prince looked bewildered. “Can I…?”
“Of course. Don’t worry, he’ll obey you like a dog soon enough, but remember, don’t go overboard, don’t sell yourself.” Brendel replied lightly.
Go overboard? What are you talking about? The young prince blushed, but he could not go against his teacher’s words and could only muster the courage to approach. Upon seeing Haruzé, Shta’s eyes twinkled for a moment, but quickly turned disappointed, loudly saying, “What the heck, it’s clearly a man. I wouldn’t be interested in such a fellow. Hurry up and bring me a young girl; maybe then I’ll consider telling you the information you want to know—”
Brendel nearly drew the Earth Sword to slice the lewd and vile little fat dragon in half. He took a gentle breath, reminding himself to stay calm; after all, the other party was a dragon, even if it was a young dragon, it wasn’t something he could deal with.
But this guy was truly vile to a certain degree. What on earth was he thinking?
Brendel finally managed to calm himself down and noticed Shta’s gaze suddenly became fixed, precisely locking onto Haruzé.
Then everyone saw this guy’s eyes actually go misty, and a line of sparkling drool flowed from the corner of his mouth.
At that moment, it was as if a mass petrification spell descended from the sky. Except for Brendel, the Crusian nobles, Brendel’s accompanying knights, and even Shi Do and Veronika were momentarily frozen.
What was happening?
The young prince, as the person involved, was startled, shouting, “W-What are you doing?”
But Shta, as if he hadn’t heard, suddenly lunged at him.
At that moment, Alorze could not help but turn her head away in disgust. Brendel laughed heartily in his heart, just as expected, just like those fellows had described.
“Clearly just a child, still pretending.” He thought to himself as he heard Haruzé scream.
