Chapter 76: Before Departure (Part 1)
“No way! Didn’t you just sign a contract with Yake? Plus, you’ve already taken the wedding photos! How can you suddenly say you’re not with Yake anymore?”
As soon as she heard that Aierjisi seemed to not want to be with Yake, Reina’s gaze turned sharp, giving the Little Princess quite a scare.
“No, no! That’s not what I meant, Mama Reina! I just feel… I feel like Yake and I don’t quite match, you know? I mean, Yake’s an ordinary human, and I’m from the Blood Clan. I don’t see how that could possibly work out!”
Aierjisi hurriedly explained her earlier remarks to Reina. She and Yake were from two entirely different races, and there were even reproductive barriers between them. The possibility of having offspring was completely off the table! Not to mention the ridiculous lifespan gap; a hundred years for her was just a long day, while for Yake, it was his entire life from birth to the grave!
“Oh come on, that’s not true! The king of Panimir has married an Ice Dragon, you know!”
“What? He married an Ice Dragon?!”
Aierjisi was stunned upon hearing Reina’s words. Seriously, why were the people in this world so bizarre? Wouldn’t it be a piece of cake for a king to marry a beautiful human woman instead of an Ice Dragon? Wait, an Ice Dragon? Could that be one of those otherworlders?
“Excuse me, Mama Reina, could you tell me the name of that Ice Dragon in detail?”
The Little Princess immediately asked Reina for the Ice Dragon’s name. Who knows, that Ice Dragon might just be one of the otherworlders she’s been searching for!
“Name? Well, I can’t quite remember, but I think it was something like Ailin… or something?”
Reina hadn’t paid much attention to the Ice Dragon’s name when she first heard about it, and she really didn’t care. Besides, with information spreading from one person to another, names like that could’ve easily been twisted around!
“Is it Ailin Saige Te?”
The moment she heard the name “Ailin,” Aierjisi felt that this Ice Dragon was likely one of the allies she was looking for.
“I said I don’t remember well, but that should be it.”
“Alright! Thank you, Mama Reina, you’ve been a huge help!”
No matter what, Aierjisi had obtained an important piece of intel. The Ice Dragon was in Panimir rather than the Dragon Clan Valley; knowing this would save her from taking a detour. However, on second thought, she realized how naive she had been. Since she’d already moved from her birthplace to a small human town, other otherworlders wouldn’t just sit around waiting for her to find them!
Alright! Change of plans! First, head to Panimir to find that Ice Dragon, then form an alliance and figure out how to locate the other otherworlders!
“So, about you and Yake…”
Although she didn’t really understand how she had helped little Aier with this, since she had, it was only fair to make a request in return, right?
“Ahem. Well then… how about this? On the road, I’ll do my best to find some nice women for Yake, and if he’s still single when he returns, then as an apology, I’ll marry him. How does that sound, Mama Reina?”
Aierjisi just wanted to brush Reina off and hoped she wouldn’t try to meddle with her and Yake anymore. She gave her a compromise proposal; after all, she’d be heading home after defeating the boss, so whatever happened next was none of her business. No matter the outcome, neither she nor Yake would lose out. Yep, I’m such a genius!
“If it’s like that, then it’s fine. But if possible, I’d still love to see you and Yake come back married.”
Compared to the other women, Reina had a much higher opinion of little Aier. After all, little Aier was not only adorable but also strong, and she often used small spells to solve everyday problems. As a daughter-in-law, she was qualified!
“Well then, it’s settled. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to sleep. Please store that medicine safely, Mama Reina. While it’s not needed now, it might come in handy someday.”
After discussing all that with Reina, Aierjisi returned to her room to continue her sleep.
“Mom, what are you doing here…”
Just as Aierjisi returned not long after, Yake came upstairs after taking a bath. Seeing his mom holding a jar of medicine in the doorway, his expression darkened significantly. Given Reina’s usual behavior, he knew exactly what she was up to.
“Ah… Yake, you’re here!”
“Mom, did you just drug Aier?”
If Reina had really tried to drug the Little Princess, then for the sake of his life, Yake swore he wouldn’t set foot in that room no matter what!
“I wanted to, but Aisi and little Aier found out, so it didn’t work out in the end.”
Hearing Reina’s words, Yake felt a weight lifted off his chest. Thank goodness for that!
“However, Yake, here’s a piece of advice: tomorrow you and little Aier will set off. No matter how beautiful the women you encounter on the road, you cannot fall for them! You can only focus your heart and mind on little Aier. Got it?”
Since little Aier had made such a proposal to him, she now needed to set some rules for Yake to ensure her own goals were met.
“What’s going on suddenly? Mom, did Aier say something to you?”
Yake was completely baffled by the current situation. To be honest, everything that had transpired over the past few days was utterly confusing, and he felt like his brain was about to short-circuit.
“You don’t need to know. Just remember, you can only love little Aier! Got it? If you don’t achieve that, don’t blame Mama for not recognizing you as my son.”
“Okay, okay! I got it!”
Scared by Reina’s intense aura, Yake quickly agreed.
“Good, then I’ll be waiting for the day you two return from your journey!”
With that settled, Reina, satisfied, skipped downstairs.
“What on earth just happened?”
Watching Reina bounce down the stairs, Yake wiped the sweat off his forehead and entered his room.
“Ah!”
As he stepped inside, he found the Little Princess sitting on the bed, looking at the door. Yake was startled; he thought she had already fallen asleep!
“What’s wrong? You’re not sleeping yet? What is it, Aier? We’re leaving tomorrow, you know! If you don’t get some rest soon, you’ll have trouble waking up!”
“I have some questions I’d like to ask you.”
“Questions? What kind of questions?”
Yake looked at the Little Princess, unsure of what she wanted to ask him. But remembering the question Aisi had asked him earlier, he figured Aier’s question might be the same!
