Chapter 767: Demon Artifact Bombardment
Lin Nuo and Ling Meng, this master-student duo, were plotting an escape plan, aiming for a wave of demon beasts to break free and attain their freedom.
Although the Demon Abyss Valley was nice, it ultimately belonged to the Refining Demon Sect—like a greenhouse prison, a boiling frog scenario; it wouldn’t be surprising if they were slaughtered any day.
So they needed to break free and pursue liberty.
Lin Nuo had it all figured out. Using his extensive geographical knowledge, he planned for the demon beasts in the valley to escape through three exits, regroup afterward, and head toward a northern wilderness, seizing the place and driving away or eating the original wild beasts to form a new tribe.
For the path with the strongest defenses, he would lead the breakout, attracting a massive wave of firepower, while the teams on the other two paths would charge in.
With Ling Meng’s contingent of soldiers, his own, and one led by A Lang and A Hu, the plan was solid and could succeed.
Breaking the Refining Demon Sect wasn’t that hard.
Without a blackboard, Lin Nuo felt like a leader, painting a grand picture for the demon beasts, promising a glorious future under King Lin’s rule.
After a bit of persuasion from Lin, the demon beasts were all pumped up, feeling like they had been reborn, breaking the chains of bondage and breathing in the air of freedom.
Lin even taught them a song, with a line that went:
“Running with the wind heading toward freedom, chasing the power of thunder and lightning.”
It quickly spread among the demon beasts and became their sacred anthem.
With the preliminary preparations complete, it was time to take action and break out.
“Alright, I’ve split the troops. I’ll go ahead; you all prepare to breach.”
“Master.”
“What?”
“You have to be careful; I’ll be waiting for your return.”
“Don’t say that kind of stuff, okay?”
What, setting up a flag like that, are you planning for me to run into A Su and not come back?
“Master, I’m concerned for you.”
“I’ll join you all soon; nothing will happen.”
Lin Nuo’s hand patted Ling Meng’s head. He had gotten used to comforting and encouraging her this way.
This female disciple used some sort of conditioner; her long hair was incredibly smooth, and it felt just right when touched.
“Okay, I’ll wait for you, Master.”
Ling Meng grasped Lin Nuo’s arm and brought it to her face, feeling warmth radiate from it.
Master’s hand was always the warmest.
Around them, the demon beasts had turned back into dogs, grumbling internally, “Can you two quit being affectionate? We’re about to fight for freedom here!”
“Let’s go.”
Lin Nuo retracted his hand, turned around, and dashed off with some agile, quick leopard-headed ones, swiftly leaving the scene.
Like the wind, he zipped away in an instant.
Watching Lin Nuo’s graceful retreat, Ling Meng felt a pang of infatuation, thinking how dashing and handsome her master really was.
Staring dazedly at Lin Nuo’s disappearing figure, Ling Meng’s expression changed instantly, turning cold and serious, transforming into a queen of the demon path, as if she could command legions of demon soldiers.
“Alright, next, move out with me. Third team, you can start too. If anything goes wrong, retreat into the Demon Abyss Valley; it has natural advantages for us.”
“Understood.”
The captain of the third team responded, immediately moving out, while the three contingents prepared for a major breakout.
For freedom, the demon beasts sang the song Lin Nuo had taught them:
“Running with the wind heading toward freedom, chasing the power of thunder and lightning…”
……
Lin Nuo had reached the edge of the barrier, where he had instructed the demon beasts to place the demon stones they had gathered from within the Demon Abyss Valley at various spots along the perimeter—like a formation, drawn through several points.
Now it was complete; each stone served as a support point. Once activated, it would trigger a chain reaction, a complete collapse.
Good, it was time.
Lin Nuo led a group of demon beasts to the barrier and encountered the demon masters from the Refining Demon Sect, who were maintaining this barrier.
They saw Lin Nuo and his entourage of leopard-headed ones, astonished.
What was going on? How did a human end up with a pack of demon beasts?
Had he controlled them? Made them obey his orders?
The demon masters were confused, wondering what was happening. But now the barrier was sealed, they couldn’t rush out, much like beasts in a cage, just watching.
At this point, Lin Nuo gave them the middle finger as a sign of goodwill.
Of course, they didn’t understand the gesture, but they sensed it wasn’t friendly.
Ignoring him, they let him show off for a bit, treating him like a demon beast instead.
However, what happened next shook them to the core.
The kid began waving his hands, seemingly casting a spell. Soon, there was a tremor in the ground, and dark purple spiritual lights flickered up from the edges of the Demon Abyss Valley; the barrier was rapidly shattering.
“What—?!”
They were stunned, completely unable to comprehend how the barrier was breaking!
They hurriedly tried to fix it, but there was no time; they could only watch helplessly as the barrier fractured.
It was open—really open!
“Not good, the barrier is breaking! Quickly report to the Young Master! Hurry to stop those demon beasts!”
The demon masters were in a panic; if the demon beasts escaped, it would be a serious crime.
Defend, defend at all costs.
The demon masters quickly formed formations and cast spells, sending waves of spiritual lights bombarding Lin Nuo and his group.
But Lin Nuo had chosen expert runners, quickly assembling an elite unit adept at guerrilla warfare. They ran and dodged, occasionally tossing some magical bombs that turned parts of the hillside into craters.
Now a big problem had arisen; they had disturbed the Chen family.
The Chen family had deployed demon artifacts and were about to engage the cultivators, resulting in such chaos.
Chen Tian was bewildered; the tremors brought his attention. Looking over, he saw the barrier had vanished.
What the hell was going on?
“Report! Young Master, a kid led a group of demon beasts and destroyed the barrier!”
“Destroyed it?! How did he do that?”
“Not sure; he seems to know about the barrier’s circumstances. Young Master, what should we do now?”
“Forget it, we can’t dwell on that now. Mobilize all demon masters to crush those cultivators.”
Chen Tian commanded, quickly shifting focus to the cultivators.
First, they’d eliminate the cultivators.
The demon artifact, shaped like a dragon, was lifted by Chen Tian, surging with intense Demon Soul Power gathering within the dragon’s mouth.
Alright, let’s make you all taste some hardship first!
Suddenly, the dragon’s mouth shot a burst of magical projectiles into the sky, which then exploded, raining down countless meteor-like magical bombs onto the cultivators.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
It happened so fast, completely catching the cultivators off guard. Just as two elders were about to escort Liu Shuqin away, they ran into this chaos.
“Crap! Set up the spirit barrier!”
As the meteor rain of magical projectiles descended, the cultivators and elders all tried to defend, but they couldn’t hold it.
What ensued was a brutal bombardment.
Qin Shili and some cultivators had fled to another location, escaping this ordeal.
But Liu Shuqin had to save her fellow disciple and ended up taking the brunt of the attack.
