The place that offered me a role in the music video was PMC Entertainment.
They said they needed one male actor for their new girl group, Pentaring, and preferably someone whose face isn’t overly familiar to the public, for a fresh look.
If this actor also had good acting skills, it would be an added bonus.
So, while making inquiries here and there, they found out about me and put in a request through Flame.
“However, since PMC already has Mr. Lion, wouldn’t it make more sense to cast someone internally? Surely there must be other male trainees at PMC too.”
“Mr. Siu, you seem to know a lot about girl idols but you’re not quite familiar with the industry. It’s always best to keep boy and girl idols from the same company separate. Furthermore, Nuclear’s album release has already been delayed because of Pentaring. There’s no reason for us to cause unnecessary suffering.”
“Hmm…”
“And I heard that the one who recommended you, Mr. Siu, was Mr. Lion himself. There was an opinion that Mr. Lion should star in the video, but he personally recommended you.”
“So, Mr. Lion indeed…”
Mr. Lion is clever, that much is true.
Mr. Lion, who has worked with me twice already, surely understands that this moment represents the cheapest time to involve me.
With his good relationship with the company, despite his lack of complaints about the album delay, his recommendation surely comes from the heart.
“So, besides me, who else is in the music video?”
“There’s no one else. It’s just you and Pentaring in the music video. And your scenes won’t be too many.”
“Ah, I see.”
“This is merely my personal opinion, but I think it’s a good idea for you to take this role. This is PMC’s new group and they’re definitely getting a lot of attention. Given the relatively easy schedule and high interest worldwide in music videos these days…”
“So, it’s a win-win situation, then.”
“Yes, that’s what I believe.”
I think it’s a good idea to agree as well.
There’s really no reason to refuse.
Also, the influence of an idol music video can be significant.
It seems it could be a rather fun experience to mock those clueless mother-daughter types during the shoot.
The need for a male actor means this music video will feature a story, and the members will naturally show some acting skills, too.
Our clueless mother-daughter types? They’re completely hopeless at acting.
Whoever the director may be, if they just shout out the script clearly to our clueless ones…
“Pentaring. This is interesting.”
“…Huh?”
“I’ll come along too. Let’s treat it as an outing.”
“…Senior Yoo-a?”
“I see, I feel a bit cooped up, so let’s go.”
“…Senior Su-yeon as well?”
I was lost in thought when suddenly, big problems started emerging.
What are these two people doing tagging along?
A newbie idol music video shoot, with Moon Suyeon and Heavenly Yuah present?
Our clueless mother-daughter types aren’t my concern, but what crime did the other members commit?
“But if you insist… I will go ahead and prepare.”
However, Team Leader Seo doesn’t even seem like he’s going to stop them.
What is this?
Of course, it doesn’t seem like those two would change their minds even if someone tried to stop them, but isn’t it the duty of the team leader in charge of me to at least show some consideration?
Instead, he winks at me slyly while leaving.
Ah, really. What an inconsiderate person.
Or, could this person be too perceptive?
Since there’s no way to stop Heavenly Yuah if she has already decided to come, maybe it’s wiser to surrender quickly to minimize the damage.
The world has seen the emergence of a strategist in our company, hasn’t it?
“…Alright then.”
“I’ll ride in Siwoo’s van to avoid drawing too much attention that might disrupt them.”
“I’ll ride in Siwoo’s van as well.”
“B-but, the two of you merely showing up will already be quite disruptive…”
“That’s not the case.”
“Well, how popular am I with the trainees? Mr. Siu might be surprised?”
“…Alright, I understand.”
Well, there’s nothing we can do. If they want to come along, we can only accept it.
But when exactly will Miss Moon Suyeon complete her mental treatment?
It feels like the situation keeps getting worse.
It would be wonderful if her treatment could be completed quickly.
I earnestly hope there won’t be any weird incidents at the shoot.
Two days after I agreed to appear in the music video,
I was heading towards the shoot location in my van.
The passengers in this van are Heavenly Yuah, Moon Suyeon, and Coordinator Joo Seo-jin.
Heavenly Yuah’s security team is following us in a separate vehicle.
The atmosphere is surprisingly okay.
Much better than times when Coordinator Joo Seo-jin and Moon Suyeon were having incomprehensible disputes.
And the three people’s attention was no longer on me but shifted towards someone else.
Towards White Hayoung, our awkward mother-daughter member.
“Did they request Mr. Siu because he’s Miss Hayoung’s brother?”
“It could be. It’s not bad marketing, right?”
“No, it probably isn’t.”
“Why?”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Well, I’d probably do the same. If my situation weren’t abnormal, I would’ve kept it secret as well.”
I’m confident in this part.
That kid wouldn’t have revealed my existence.
Though both that kid and I resemble our father in appearance, we resemble our mother in personality.
Our similar personalities don’t resemble the national treasure-level affability of our father but rather the slightly more pragmatic nature of our mother.
We’ve been calculating companions ever since we were kids, and with the similarity in personalities, there’s a bit of a kinship aversion.
Would it be accurate to say that introducing each other to our acquaintances would be too embarrassing?
If I had intended to keep that kid’s existence a secret, the same goes for her.
“Anyway, let’s listen to the song first.”
“Oh, right. PMC does produce good songs. The CEO is an ex-composer, so they’re quite serious about the quality of the tracks.”
“…Is that so?”
“Yes, most listenable songs in idol music are from PMC. Nuclear’s tracks are also good, right?”
“In that case, I am curious too.”
When I agreed to film the music video, they sent over a small script and a sound sample.
The request was to include these kind of scenes in the song.
Of course, they emphasized secrecy, but it’s pretty radical of them to send an unreleased track.
In this situation, I guess they trust Lion more than me.
Even though Lion always avoided me, it seems he’s saying good things about me to the company.
“…The song is decent.”
“Yes, it’s refreshing. A style we rarely see from PMC. I wonder what Mr. Siu will have to act…”
“Yes, as the one receiving a confession.”
Pentaring’s debut song ‘Candy,Candy’ is a kind of confession song saying that they’ll love like candy.
Naturally, it refers to the fans.
My role is to be the subject of the confession, someone initially a nobody who is transformed by the members into a handsome man.
I quietly estimated the parts our awkward mother-daughter member has while listening to the song, and her parts aren’t many.
Though she’s the visual center, it seems that most of the singing is handled by the main vocalist or lead vocalist.
Considering that all girl groups PMC has launched so far are in the girl crush category, this song is a bit surprising, but the song itself is definitely clean.
It’s probably due to our awkward mother-daughter not receiving too many parts.
“Still, supposedly, she’s at least responsible for the killing part as the visual center.”
There’s a part where she says ‘Ah-ing~’ and acts cute, and this part is assigned to her.
Just imagining her hideous face acting cute makes me want to throw up.
PMC isn’t some small grocery store that they’d assign parts without much thought.
Is it really this bad that PMC doesn’t have more talent?
It feels quite lamentable to think about it, considering it was an error for her to even be involved in the first place.
“Five girl group members decorate Mr. Siu…”
“Now that I think about it, there are five members. One is the younger sister, but the other four…”
“What exactly are you trying to say?”
“Girl idols can be pretty nasty, but…”
“But since this group has a younger sister, there will be someone to mediate any conflicts.”
“As long as a member’s relationship with her brother isn’t ruined, the group won’t dissolve, right?”
After briefly reading the side script, they quietly whisper to each other.
Really, what is this? It’s somewhat scary.
It feels like their conditions are getting worse day by day, and I don’t know what’s going on.
Forget about it. Let me tune out their drama and focus on how I’m going to act today.
I need to approach this seriously since I haven’t had a similar experience in Martial Forest.
Thus, the van was roughly advancing towards the shoot location.
“Oh, Mr. White Siu. This is the talented actor I’ve heard about. I’m Kang Tae-sang, the director of this music video.”
“Nice to meet you, Director.”
The overall responsibility for this music video rests with Director Kang Tae-sang.
Well established in music videos, though his main job is as a film director. He has won awards for short films both domestically and internationally, but commercially, most of his ventures haven’t succeeded. However, he’s respected in the idol music industry for his music videos.
He seems like a decent person despite meeting for the first time.
“Ah… then…”
“I am Heavenly Yuah, Director.”
“Oh my Lord!”
“Hello there, Director.”
“Lun… Miss Luna?”
While Director Kang was trying to maintain a dignified demeanor in front of me, his demeanor completely changed when Heavenly Yuah and Moon Suyeon appeared.
If his main occupation is as a film director, he would naturally know Heavenly Yuah’s prestige. Also, given his deep ties to the music industry, he must know exactly who Luna is.
When PMC figures approached this side, confusion deepened.
“Manager Yeo Beom-gyu of Pentaring, we’re here for the introductions… Hey! Luna!”
Manager Yeo Beom-gyu, who was leading the members around for introductions, widened his eyes at the sight of Luna.
“…Heaven… Heavenly Yuah!”
Upon spotting Heavenly Yuah next, his pupils were visibly shaken and were dancing like tap-dancing.
“…But, what exactly…”
However, what struck me most was the face of the mother-daughter moron, which crumpled up immediately upon seeing me.
That girl was just taunting (?) the staff with her obnoxious smile a moment ago.
The fact that her façade cracked even for a moment due to my appearance was rather satisfying.
Of course, she quickly re-armed herself with her smirk since she’s more shameless than me.
Wow, what an excellent start already, isn’t it?
But I didn’t realize.
That this shoot would also become a great ordeal for me.
My true adversary wasn’t Heavenly Yuah or Moon Suyeon.
