Chapter 078: Dekan has come to retrieve someone.
Teacher Cat initially dared not to fall asleep due to fear.
However, noticing Dekan sleeping soundly, it gradually drifted to sleep as well.
If we’re going to die, let’s die together!
But when the next day came, the sun rose as usual.
Lilith had made an appointment with everyone the previous day to gather at 6:30 in the morning.
So even though Dekan wanted to sleep a bit longer, he still got up at six.
Sometimes when traveling, it’s necessary to take care of the group’s schedule.
After washing up, Dekan pulled open the curtains.
Outside, a heavy snowstorm continued to rage, the sky was dim, and the sun had just begun to rise.
The view was decent.
Subsequently, Dekan turned around and patted the Teacher Cat still lying on the bed.
“Let me sleep a bit more… meow…”
“You can sleep in my shadow, or I’ll have to leave you in the room.”
“Meow…”
Teacher Cat reluctantly got up from the soft bed and dove into Dekan’s shadow.
Dekan left room 204 and walked to the door of 205, where Cornelia had stayed the night before.
“Knock knock.”
As the door was tapped, soft footsteps could be heard from inside.
Cornelia didn’t open the door immediately.
“Password,” she said behind the door.
“Password,” Dekan replied calmly.
Then Cornelia opened the door.
The Beautiful Soul Squad’s password was just the word “password.”
There was no need to worry about others hearing the password through the broadcast, as Dekan had turned off the “Observer Program” before going to bed the night before.
As a live-streamer specializing in daily life and travel, there was no reason for him to show his sleeping habits to the audience.
According to the contract, these non-essential parts of the Shadow World’s quest weren’t required to be broadcast live.
He would turn on the “Observer Program” again at the 6:30 gathering.
Cornelia left her room and locked the door, walking with Dekan in the corridor.
“What activities do we have today?”
Cornelia’s mental state looked good, and she even appeared to be looking forward to the new day.
Dekan: “Let’s deal with the werewolf later. I have a way to find it out.”
Cornelia: “Okay.”
When it came to knocking out enemies and disposing of evidence, Cornelia felt she and Dekan had worked together to become quite proficient.
The two met the agreed time in the living room.
Lilith and her two twin guards were already there, their eyes slightly sunken, clearly having had a poor night’s sleep.
Seeing Dekan and Cornelia’s energetic states, they were somewhat surprised.
“It seems you both had a good rest last night.”
Lilith greeted them helplessly.
“It’s my duty to ensure my young mistress gets the best rest.”
Dekan responded gracefully and calmly.
He had already embraced the role of ‘managing a talented woman’.
“Looks like you’re confident in your fighting strength. Are you saying you could take on a sixth-tier werewolf?” Lilith asked with a hint of probing.
She subconsciously raised her evaluation of Dekan’s combat power to another level.
In this fourth-tier Shadow World, there was a possibility of fifth-tier fighters appearing.
And among them, there were some extraordinary fifth-tier fighters capable of competing with sixth-tier beings.
Hence, in the Shadow Realm, there were rare instances of brute force demolitions.
She felt that Dekan might be one such extraordinary fighter.
“Nothing as exaggerated as that,” Dekan replied, shaking his head.
The six of them then sat in the living room, waiting.
As time passed, the three Kingdom Knights had yet to appear.
The group’s hearts already knew what this meant.
The atmosphere gradually plummeted to freezing point, with the three groups becoming exceedingly vigilant of each other.
It seemed they all prepared to deal with sudden assaults.
Even Dekan frowned.
In his calculations, these three Kingdom Knights should not have been killed.
It seemed the enemy’s methods were far more ruthless than he had imagined.
There was no way even he could have saved them under such bizarre circumstances.
Lilith said heavily:
“It seems they won’t be coming. Let’s exchange details about the events last night, then investigate the bedrooms.”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Despite the tense atmosphere, maintaining cooperation was still the optimal solution.
“Last night, the two of us stayed together,” Lilith explained, pointing at her guards.
“Firstly, last night we heard some strange noises before ten o’clock, the source seemed to be on the second floor.”
“Later, in the middle of the night, we heard the werewolf’s footsteps outside the door. But strangely, it seemed like the werewolf was acting alone.”
“It just paused in front of our door for a moment and then left.”
“Shortly afterward, we heard the werewolf’s screams. After midnight, things were quiet again.”
Even Lilith herself felt puzzled.
It was too bizarre.
Particularly the werewolf’s cries; Lilith couldn’t figure out the reason.
Even her maid wasn’t powerful enough to beat up a werewolf, was she?
The twin sisters and Dekan and Cornelia provided similar accounts.
Dekan did not disclose what he had done to the werewolf that night.
Speaking too abstractly would invite suspicion, while speaking too specifically would reveal his card information to the hidden werewolf within them.
The werewolf hadn’t seen the Ruined Bard last night.
It likely didn’t understand the Ruined Bard’s mechanisms. Otherwise, it would have prepared ahead of time, rather than using Frenzy in a last-ditch attempt.
So the werewolf probably didn’t know that Dekan could amplify everyone’s pain without choosing specific targets.
It probably still believed it could safely remain hidden.
But before uncovering the werewolf, Dekan had some other preparations to make.
He quietly moved to the piano and looked down at the hexagram array they had discovered beneath it yesterday.
Originally, this hexagram only had a faint red light shining from one of its corners. Now, four of the corners showed the red glow.
The others soon came beside the piano too.
They all understood Dekan’s meaning.
This hexagram must have some significance; the incident last night had likely caused something to change in it.
“If the first red light indicated the master of the mansion, then could the three additional lights refer to the sacrifice of the three Kingdom Knights?” Lilith murmured gravely after seeing the four red lights on the hexagram.
“Probably,” Dekan agreed, for once expressing his opinion.
He seemed reluctant to sit idly by anymore.
Lilith asked, “Then what will happen if all six points are lit up?”
Dekan replied, “Do you remember the story we read? This mansion should have harbored the werewolf, witch, and vampire, but where is the vampire?”
Upon hearing Dekan’s words, Lilith felt a chill run down her spine.
