Chapter 8: How to Get the Guests to Help

Chapter 8: How to Get the Guests to Help

“Don’t look at me like that; I know it’s embarrassing. But right now, I don’t even know the coordinates of the Moon God Palace.”

“Why is that? Isn’t it your homeland?”

Yake had previously heard from Aierjisi that the Moon God Palace was the territory and homeland of the Blood Clan in this world. If it was their homeland, why didn’t they know its location?

“If it were 300 years ago, I would know, but 300 years later, this world has changed far too much. Whether the Moon God Palace still exists on this continent is a question in itself. So, I’m sorry; I can’t help you with the teleportation.”

Carl hung his head in shame; there was truly nothing he could do to assist them in this matter.

“Uh, this…”

Yake, at a loss for words, figured that if Carl didn’t know the coordinates of the Moon God Palace, then Aierjisi probably wouldn’t either. That meant the three of them would just have to travel slowly from then on, right?

“Can’t we try using the old coordinates? Maybe it will work.”

Yake was still not giving up. He insisted on giving the old coordinates a shot; perhaps it would succeed. Sitting here doing nothing wasn’t an option.

“This method is quite risky; are you sure about this? We could end up in the middle of the ocean.”

“No problem, I’ve faced plenty of dangers before. Besides, I’m an adventurer; taking risks is part of my life.”

Yake puffed out his chest, feeling proud of his adventurer identity.

“Well, okay, I’ll give it a try. You’d better be ready; if we accidentally end up in the ocean, you need to swim quickly.”

“Yeah, don’t worry. I know how to swim. I’m quite good at swimming, to be honest.”

“No, it’s not about knowing how to swim. You’ve heard, right? The Blood Clan has some issues with running water.”

So that’s what it was?!

Now that he thought about it, he remembered reading as a child that vampires had some fear of flowing water. He’d thought it was just a fictional tale, but it turned out to be true!

“Then, will I be affected too?”

Considering that he was gradually being transformed into a Blood Clan member because of the contract, he realized he might also inherit their weaknesses. If the three of them all fell right into the ocean at the start, wouldn’t that mean they’d be wiped out immediately?

“You might be affected to some extent, but not as severely as us. After all, you still have more human qualities. But at that point, you might still feel some physical fatigue or something like that. In short, if we end up in the ocean, we’ll have to rely on you.”

Carl smiled and patted Yake on the shoulder. Yake suddenly felt the weight on him grow heavier. But there was no other way; after all, he was the only reliable person at this moment.

“Ready? If you’re prepared, I’ll start the teleportation.”

“I think I’m ready. Let’s do it.”

“Okay, teleportation begins.”

Carl held the Teleportation Crystal, causing it to emit a dazzling light that swallowed all three of their voices and transported them far away.

“Milady, it seems they have already set off ahead of us. When do we leave?”

Yaser looked at the beam of white light heading into the distance. He knew that Aierjisi and the others had already departed.

“What’s your rush, Yaser? We’ve gone through so much to come to the Royal Palace; why not relax and enjoy ourselves for a bit before heading back? They’ve been here for quite a while, while we’ve only been here for a few days—just over two, right? We should take some time to have fun and make up for it!”

Weirafiya lay on the bed, crossing her legs and fiddling with the Teleportation Crystal.

“Milady, isn’t this being a bit too calculated? Wouldn’t it benefit you to return early and complete your training? And besides, it’s not like going back means we can’t return. The Teleportation Crystal has five uses, right?”

“That’s true, but since the Teleportation Crystal can instantaneously take us far away and back again, what’s the harm in lingering here a bit longer?”

“Well, there is no harm.”

“Then that settles it! I have plenty of time, so I’ll rest here a bit longer. Come on, Yaser, stop wandering outside and hurry up inside. The door’s wide open, and it’s cold!”

“I’ll pass, Milady. I think I’ll take a stroll outside for a while. You continue to rest; I won’t disturb you.”

Yaser closed the door behind him and left Weirafiya, the little phoenix, alone in the room.

“Huh? Isn’t that Yaser? Are you still here?”

Just as he was wandering down the corridor, Yaser bumped into Gaia, who was holding a pile of documents. Surprised to see Yaser still in the Royal Palace, Gaia raised an eyebrow.

“Well, the Teleportation Crystal is with Milady right now, and she said she wanted to rest a bit longer. So we haven’t left yet. Mr. Gaia, let me help you with some of those documents.”

Yaser reached out to help Gaia carry some of the papers.

“Oh, thanks! I was just looking for someone to help me carry a few. My arms are so sore from hauling these documents around all day!”

“You sure look tired, Mr. Gaia. Do you have to go through so many documents every day?”

“Pretty much. As the ruler of this kingdom, I personally go through many documents. Initially, I found it quite taxing, but over time, it’s turned into a routine. Greater abilities come with greater responsibilities. The little effort I put in is nothing compared to enabling this country to prosper, and besides, everyone in the Royal Palace works extremely hard.”

“I see. If it’s okay, can I help you with sorting some documents too? Just because I’m young doesn’t mean I haven’t helped my dad with this kind of work back in the day.”

Yaser, being a young noble himself, was used to the busyness of noble affairs. He had helped his father handle a fair number of documents over the years, so he had some experience.

“Let’s skip that; you are guests, and how can I let guests do my work?”

Gaia flatly rejected Yaser’s offer. After all, how could he have guests help him with his paperwork? That was no way to treat visitors!
