Chapter 8: Open Your Eyes, Cosmic Hero, I Am Shafulin
Unbuttoning Yake’s clothes, Aelgiss lay atop him. She revealed her fangs and bit down on his neck. Of course, the purpose wasn’t to drain his blood, but to communicate with his soul. Yake’s soul hadn’t yet departed his body, and if she could establish a master-servant contract now, she could save him.
“Open your eyes, human.”
Feeling she had successfully entered Yake’s body and connected with his waning soul, Aelgiss attempted to rouse him.
“Who? Who’s calling me?”
On the other side, Yake, who was nearly asleep, felt compelled to awaken and see who it was.
He saw a golden-haired girl whose body, from the waist down, was entirely surrounded by light, speaking to him. Instinctively, Yake stood up from the ground, and at that moment, he noticed his own body was also enveloped in mysterious light.
“I am the returning New Jack Ultraman II. No, my name is Aelgiss Platin, the Little Princess of the 26th generation of the Blood Clan.”
Aelgiss introduced herself and her background to Yake.
“A princess of the Blood Clan? But didn’t they all vanish 300 years ago?”
Hearing that Aelgiss was a princess of the Blood Clan surprised Yake. He had heard that the Blood Clan mysteriously disappeared over 300 years ago, taking their territories and castles with them as if they had never existed, simply evaporating.
“I’m not sure about that either. I was sealed in these ruins for a long time and only recently woke up. So, I’m clueless about what happened to the Blood Clan all these years.”
Because she had been sealed for so long, Aelgiss knew nothing about the current world. This was why she sought out Yake; she needed a modern person to help her understand today’s reality.
“So, what business does the Little Princess of the Blood Clan have with an ordinary Adventurer like me?”
Yake furrowed his brows. Since this little princess approached him, it had to be for something important.
“Indeed, I have something to discuss with you. Your soul will soon leave your body, and at that moment, I won’t be able to find you anymore. So, let’s cut to the chase.”
Aelgiss didn’t want to waste any more time. Yake’s soul was slipping away by the second; she needed to act fast to keep him.
“Tell me, do you want to be resurrected? Or do you wish to just die?”
Aelgiss gazed at Yake sitting on the ground, asking if he desired resurrection.
“If I could be revived, of course, I would want that! But it seems impossible. After being an Adventurer for so many years, I’ve never heard of a way to bring someone back from the dead.”
If given the choice, Yake certainly didn’t want to die here. But once someone was dead, they couldn’t be revived.
“Yes, even I can’t bring the dead back to life. But if you sign a contract with me and share your life, then the concept changes.”
Aelgiss agreed with Yake’s thoughts; reviving the dead was impossible, but sharing life was a different story.
“Sign a contract with you?”
Yake looked up at the little princess with a puzzled expression.
“Yes. Sign a contract with me, become my servant, and in exchange, I will share my life with you. What do you say? Will you agree?”
Aelgiss extended her right hand. If he reached out to take it, the contract would be established.
“Why?”
“Huh? Why what?”
Aelgiss tilted her head, confused about what Yake meant by “why.”
“Why do you want to find me? I’m not strong at all. If we sign a contract, your risk of death will increase significantly!”
Yake couldn’t understand why this little princess chose him for a contract. There were plenty of stronger people in the kingdom, so why did she specifically seek him? Plus, if they started sharing life, if he were killed, she would die too.
“Well, yes, your combat strength is indeed very weak, and I know that.”
Aelgiss nodded. She had assessed Yake’s combat ability when she rescued him from the flames. He had a pathetic 1400 points compared to her 4700 points.
“Since you know how weak I am, then why?”
“If you need a reason, it’s probably because I like you.”
Aelgiss’s choice to contract with Yake partly stemmed from her appreciation for him. Indeed, his combat strength was low, but she admired his selfless spirit.
“Ah?”
Aelgiss’s answer left Yake in shock. He hadn’t expected the little princess would say something like “like.”
“So, will you sign the contract? If you’re willing, just reach out to take my hand. Time is running out.”
As time ticked away, Aelgiss urged Yake to decide—would he take her hand and share a life, or would he just die?
“Well, then, thank you.”
With no time to hesitate, Yake reached out and took Aelgiss’s hand, sealing a contract with her soul and sharing her life.
At the moment their hands met, Aelgiss vanished before Yake. His consciousness gradually returned, and he opened his eyes.
“You’re awake! The contract has been signed. From now on, we’re fated to be together!”
Aelgiss remained on top of Yake, gazing at him as he had just revived.
【Her face! So close! But she’s actually quite cute up close!】
Opening his eyes to see a golden-haired loli lying on him startled Yake. But upon closer inspection, he found Aelgiss’s face rather adorable. During the contract signing, the brilliant light had obscured his view.
