081 The Cat Teacher Vigorously Defends the School’s Reputation
After knocking out the assassin’s younger sibling, Cornelia didn’t immediately choose to chase after the healer sister.
Instead, she took out her hammer and delivered a frantic barrage of blows to the younger assassin.
Dekan, in perfect coordination, summoned the Ruined Bard.
Their top priority was to ensure that the younger assassin was completely unconscious.
They wanted to give her no chance to use [Frenzy].
Once the opponent’s main damage dealer was taken out, handling the remaining healer would be a walk in the park.
The healer sister swiftly reacted.
She rationally chose not to rescue the younger assassin but instead immediately set up more Holy Light Barriers to isolate the hallway. Then she turned and ran into Room 105, locking the door and slipping inside.
Clearly, the three Kingdom Knights who perished last night were victims of their scheme.
The keys to Room 105 were in the healer sister’s possession.
With the situation unfolding so suddenly, neither Lilith nor the guards could break through the barriers in time to stop the healer sister.
And just like that, Cornelia had broken yet another hammer.
However, the assassin’s younger sibling wasn’t as tough as Baron Bachel; she had already been battered beyond recognition.
Even the Alchemy Academy’s director had to pixelate parts of the footage.
“Alas, if only Chloix were here.”
Dekan walked over, looking down at the grievous state of the younger assassin with a touch of sorrow in his voice.
He didn’t enjoy this level of brutality, but unfortunately, the enemy’s [Frenzy] spell was too formidable.
If the younger assassin had managed to initiate a counterattack with [Frenzy], not only would Dekan and Cornelia be in danger, but it might also lead to Lilith’s demise.
Every time such situations arose, he missed his excellent teammate in the audience all the more.
If Chloix were present, they could revive the younger assassin and interrogate her for a couple of nights.
“So… What exactly happened?”
Lilith, eyes glazed, stared at Cornelia, whose face was smeared with blood, and then turned to Dekan.
She seemed to be struggling to piece her thoughts together, unable to fully grasp what had just transpired.
She stood there like a frozen statue, rigid and immobile.
The sight of these two people was terrifying, whichever way one looked at it.
Could this seemingly frail detective engage in combat with such ferocity?
And this servant of the killer, when exactly was he acting, and when was he serious?
His acting skills were too adept at switching from scene to scene.
Dekan gave a light laugh.
“There are three types of detectives in this world.”
He lifted his hand, bending his pinky finger and pressing his thumb against it.
“The first relies on intellect to solve cases.”
“The second type depends on luck.”
“The third type uses brute force.”
“My mistress is evidently the third type.”
Despite Dekan no longer needing to maintain the butler guise, he noticed that Cornelia was enjoying herself, so he carried on.
Lilith looked back and forth between Dekan and Cornelia, still feeling a little dazed.
“Then, why did the three Kingdom Knights die?”
Lilith still couldn’t make sense of last night’s puzzle.
“Last night, while I was dealing with the younger assassin who’d transformed into a werewolf, I saw her use a Fifth Tier magic card, Frenzy, so she’s at Fifth Tier.”
“Her older sister, judging by her magical potency, is Fourth Tier. Together, ambushing three Fourth Tier Kingdom Knights wasn’t overly difficult.”
“They went into the bedroom first last night, and only afterward did the three Kingdom Knights arrive.”
“Their room keys are numbered 101-102, whereas the Kingdom Knights are 103-105, located at the far end of the hallway.”
“If they had planned their ambush near Room 103, with some high-tier cards, they had a decent chance of quickly killing the three Kingdom Knights.”
“So, the Kingdom Knights were killed before ten o’clock, by the younger assassin when she wasn’t yet transformed into a werewolf. This also explains why the key to Room 105 is in their possession.”
“Though, whether this deduction is correct or not will ultimately be confirmed when we check the bodies of the three Kingdom Knights.”
Dekan narrated his thoughts.
“But, how do we open the door?”
Lilith questioned.
Their biggest obstacle at the moment was how to unlock the door of Room 105 to confront the healer sister hiding inside.
As long as the healer sister stayed inside, they were essentially powerless against her.
Given their forces, it was impossible to break through a door imbued with a blessing effect.
Thus, they couldn’t even examine the Kingdom Knights’ bodies nor give them a proper burial.
“Could you help us keep an eye on the person inside?”
Dekan didn’t answer Lilith’s question this time but said so.
“No problem.”
Lilith promptly agreed.
Even the proud her realized clearly who the main powerhouse in the team was.
After just being carried by Dekan and Cornelia, now was the time for them to contribute.
She also needed the time to clear her thoughts.
“Dekan, I’ve thoroughly searched her clean.”
During the time Dekan and Lilith were conversing, Cornelia had skillfully searched the younger assassin, taking all her cards.
“Good.”
Subsequently, Cornelia dragged the younger assassin by her feet toward the villa’s front door.
Dekan closely followed her as they left.
“You…”
Lilith wanted to ask where the two of them were going but swallowed her words.
She dared not ask.
Surely they were going to dispose the body, weren’t they?!
Why did they seem so practiced at it?!
…
In less than half an hour, Dekan and Cornelia returned.
Cornelia had thoroughly cleaned off the blood stains from her body and had changed into a dress with a coat.
Dekan, too, looked casual.
These outfits they found in the wardrobe of the bedroom.
“One must admit, the service at Shadow World is impeccable. It truly lives up to being a high-end travel experience center.”
“The scenario feels genuine, giving it a slight sense of terror.”
“The last two four-star experiences at Shadow World were pretty good, and I’m looking forward to a five-star one.”
“Hmm.”
“You two… that’s enough, meow…”
They both returned chatting happily, Dekan holding a black Spirit Cat.
Seeing the states of Dekan and Cornelia, Lilith wanted to say something but felt a lump in her throat.
Something about their mental state seems slightly wrong.
After locking eyes with Lilith, both Dekan and Cornelia gleefully waved at her, as if inviting her out for a picnic.
Despite Lilith’s numerous questions, her biggest current confusion was Dekan’s Spirit Cat.
It was clearly not a summoned creature.
Could it be the tenth Challenger?
Lilith: “Excuse me, what is it…?”
Dekan: “Ah, it’s our team’s mentor, currently conducting practical teaching.”
Cat Teacher: “You’re fibbing! Heirwinlit is a respectable school! You two just self-learned, I’ve never taught you anything, meow!”
