Chapter 835: Smash the Black Market
Just when I was thinking about Great 威天龙, a fox demon appeared on the notice board.
Now, this is quite the coincidence; what demons and ghosts, let them encounter Great 威天龙, at which point I’d directly say:
【A mere small skill dares to show off at the tiger’s door, preparing to capture demons, Great 威天龙】.
My DNA was stirring.
Lin Nuo glanced at the people around; they seemed bored out of their minds. The Demon Star had fallen, and the Demon Path was thriving, yet these folks were still focusing on those demon foxes? Talk about misplaced priorities!
A world-destroying villain was standing right next to you, and you didn’t even notice. Truly a bunch of cannon fodder; when the episode counts reach a certain number, they’ll naturally head to the underworld for reincarnation.
Lin Nuo leaned in closer, carefully reading the notice.
In essence, it said that the demon clan used to be quite gentle, living harmoniously in the mountains and wilds, some even coexisting peacefully with humans.
But recently, they started causing a ruckus, and a big one at that, occupying peaceful areas and attacking humans, which understandably raised people’s alarm.
Of course, the demon practitioners often attacked the common folk and encroached upon their lands, but that was nothing new—everyone was used to it, like it was an inevitable fate. No notice was needed from above; everyone understood that if demon practitioners and demon beasts came to stir up trouble, it was every man for himself. If you could escape, great; if not, well…
It was that brutal.
After all, in this world, the common folk were like NPCs; when the chaos came, they fell by the dozen.
He was just amused, watching how panicked these people were. After finishing, he slipped away from the crowd.
Observing the myriad of human conditions was quite the pleasure.
Thinking of Ruo’er, she’s a fox too, but she’s an immortal in Zifeng Valley. Technically, she’s an Immortal Fox; she has nothing to do with any demon foxes.
Speaking of which, her lineage is noteworthy—what kind of parents could bless her with such a high aptitude for cultivation, surpassing even Liu Shuqin, Qin Shili, and Su Kexin?
Su Kexin had no talent for cultivation; otherwise, she would’ve been discovered long ago. She didn’t need it; with her explosive powers, she was already dominating the competition.
Lin Nuo planned to take a trip to the Black Market. Huang City’s Black Market was bustling, with numerous vendors and countless varieties of goods.
Now that he was capable, he could pick some better materials to forge weapons and magical items, adding a distinct advantage.
Moreover, he needed intelligence. With the current circumstances, honestly, things were shifting a bit too often; the most outrageous change he knew of was that Liu Shuqin had turned demon. It was unclear whether that meant she had more allies or enemies.
In any case, he needed to obtain some information from the Black Market intel dealers about various factions and try to locate Su Kexin. If she was still hanging around Tianling Mountain, that’d be fine; if not, and had run off to level up, that would be a disaster.
With the Demon Star fallen, powerful beings were everywhere, and experience floated throughout the streets. For someone as foolish and impulsive as her, it was likely she’d see an injustice, jump in with sabers drawn, rush headlong, yelling, “Kill!” and end up sliced up herself.
Then, the villain on the other side would bump into a fool, full of hot blood, offering their head on a platter. In the end, the one providing the head would turn out to be me.
Frustrating, right?
Time to hurry up and hit the Black Market.
Lin Nuo was quite decisive, quickly retracing his steps to find the vendors.
But when he arrived, the Black Market had changed.
Before, the Black Market had free trade and wasn’t under strict control. Though goods were pricey, they were worth it; after all, acquiring those items wasn’t easy.
Now it was a disaster; the prices at the Black Market had doubled.
It was already expensive; were these folks raising prices arbitrarily?
Lin Nuo dashed into one shop, and the boss, brimming with hostility, yelled:
“Business is hard to come by; this is the price. Buy it or get lost.”
“What do you mean ‘hard to come by’? You can still double the prices? Is this robbery? I came here as a guest to negotiate, and now you want me to rob you instead?”
Lin Nuo pulled out a sharp knife; he absolutely despised outrageous price hikes, and the state of this Black Market was intolerable.
Damn it.
Seeing Lin Nuo about to use violence, the Black Market merchants panicked. How could they allow this rogue to run amok here? Don’t we have any face in the Black Market?
“Kid, I get it. But you causing trouble here means you don’t know any better. Didn’t you hear? I’m backed by both Dong Wei and the Refining Demon Sect. How can you act so recklessly here? Someone, tie him up!”
The Black Market boss quickly called for help. It was a common occurrence for troublemakers to show up in the Black Market, so they needed muscle. The hired muscle had to be strong enough for the job.
These burly men looked like a flock of warriors, muscles heaving; they resembled a philosophical society.
If they caught him, that lovely flower of a girl wouldn’t be safe.
These men hailed from various underground organizations; the steep protection fees of the Black Market allowed them to live in luxury.
But to Lin Nuo, they were merely lackeys.
“Don’t all jump me at once; come at me together.”
Lin Nuo surveyed his surroundings with a cold grin.
“Oh, so cocky; just watch me pull off my unbreakable seven-day lock.”
As the burly man lunged over, Lin Nuo moved with lightning speed; in the blink of an eye, he vanished.
Then, the burly man collapsed to the ground. Of course, Lin Nuo sheathed his knife. This small fry was just trying to earn a meal; no need to draw blood.
Everyone was confused; what the heck just happened? In an instant, they couldn’t even process it, and this fellow fell.
“Let’s all go together.”
With that, several people charged at once. They were well-trained, not blindly rushing in; there was a meat shield, ambushers, and mages in the rear casting spells.
One mage, who had practiced demon power, planned to take advantage of the confusion and summon a demonic hand from underground to grab Lin Nuo.
Great idea, except when he cast his spell, he realized something was off.
Wait, why were there two demonic hands grabbing my own feet?!
Damn, can’t break free.
Soon, the front-line attackers went down, leaving only him.
Lin Nuo charged forward, unleashing a punch that was so fast it blew his hair into a spiky mess.
But Lin Nuo’s punch stopped just before hitting the demon disciple.
Scared the hell out of him—he nearly peed his pants.
The Black Market boss, still puffing on his cigarette, turned to see that all his men were down. His cigarette holder nearly fell too.
Crap, someone’s here to wreck the place!
“Your turn, still anything to say?”
In a flash, Lin Nuo stormed up to the boss, who dropped to his knees without hesitation.
“Spare me, oh great knight, spare me!”
“What a fine insult.”
Lin Nuo kicked him, sending him rolling over a dozen times on the ground.
