086 Dekan’s Pleasant Yet Brief Journey
“Let’s continue once the cooldown for my ‘Purification of Blood’ is over.”
Dekan looked at the card with satisfaction.
The degree of pain it caused to the enemy seemed satisfactory.
It was only befitting of a card he had created.
So after two minutes, Dekan once again unleashed the spell on Count Augustine.
The vampire regained consciousness amidst his cries of agony.
But before he could open his eyes, the blow of a blunt object rendered him unconscious again.
Chief doctor Dekan and nurse Cornelia continued the cycle.
After about an hour, they finally purged Count Augustine, reducing him to a pure and flawless vampire husk.
“Tch, what a fine material wasted.”
Dekan looked at the vampire’s corpse regretfully.
If his rank was higher, he could’ve used the corpse’s decomposition materials to make a card.
Who knows, he might be able to craft a decent rare card, binding its soul and bringing it out of the Shadow World.
Unfortunately, he can’t manage sixth-tier materials at this stage.
So the duo carried the vampire husk out of the Mansion, braved the wind and snow, and threw it off a cliff.
In the mission against the Challenger, if the Challenger successfully summons Count Augustine, the hazard it would bring to the original world will be: Count Augustine being teleported to the Challenger’s original world upon the end of the mission period.
But once Count Augustine is killed, this hazard no longer exists.
This is why Dekan was able to confidently let the twin sisters summon Count Augustine.
If any other disasters were to happen, he would try his best to ensure at least one of the sisters survived.
The two quickly ran back inside the Mansion, closing the door with a sense of relief, heading upstairs.
Tomorrow they could play with carefree freedom!
“I feel like I might be too excited to sleep tonight.”
Cornelia rubbed her hands together as she spoke.
“I understand; it’s the same feeling before a field trip. I used to feel this way before entering the Shadow World.”
Dekan nodded frequently in agreement with Cornelia’s words.
Cornelia: “Looking forward to the next time already.”
Dekan: “When we both reach the fourth tier, we can bring Chloix along too. I wonder if he misses us.”
Teacher Cat: “You two meow… have you considered how the students observing from outside feel? This isn’t good for the school’s reputation meow…”
However, Dekan ignored Teacher Cat and continued chatting with Cornelia.
Dekan: “We’ve made quite a profit this time. After selling the spoils of war, we will each take three-tenths, and one-tenth goes into team activity funds.”
Teacher Cat: “Let’s go next time too meow!”
And so, the two humans and the one cat laughed and joked their way down the hallway, passing room 202.
“Hm?”
Cornelia suddenly furrowed her eyebrows.
“What’s wrong?”
Dekan glanced at her in confusion.
It seemed Cornelia had sensed something.
“There’s something strange coming from the room.”
Cornelia pointed at room 202.
Thus, Dekan, who was closer to the door, leaned over, pressing his ear to the door to listen to the sounds within.
Faint whispers reached their ears.
“Miss, ah, we mustn’t continue, we have regained our senses.”
“Since it’s already a mistake, let’s keep going wrong.”
“Uh… Miss…”
“Call me Lilith…”
“…”
Dekan quietly moved away from the door, a very complex expression on his face.
He hadn’t realized that the heightened desires also impacted Lilith and her guard.
It seemed he still needed to reassess the danger posed by the ‘Three Corpse Frenzy’ card.
He wasn’t sure whether it was a good or bad deed.
“What’s wrong with them?”
A baffled Cornelia questioned.
She seemed to worry that Lilith and her guard had fallen ill.
“No worries. They’re having a beneficial and healthy exercise, that’s all.”
“Oh, I see.”
Since Dekan said there was no issue, Cornelia set her concerns aside.
To avoid disturbing them, Dekan returned to room 204, while Teacher Cat followed Cornelia into room 205.
Strangely, this time Teacher Cat agreed to stay with Cornelia.
Perhaps it was concerned about being alone with Dekan and being subject to retaliation.
Dekan helplessly shook his head as he looked at Teacher Cat with disdain.
He had always treated it kindly.
Could he really be that scary?
Clearly not.
There’s probably no one gentler than him in this world.
Dekan returned to his bedroom, washed up, got into bed, and seemed to be pondering something.
He felt as if there was one more important thing he had yet to do today.
Then he pulled out the ‘Three Corpse Frenzy’ card, looking it over as he activated it within a very small range.
Ensuring it would affect only him.
If he harboured any desires in his heart, they could very well be amplified by ‘Three Corpse Frenzy,’ even causing him to lose his sanity.
Of course, if his heart was free of distractions, he wouldn’t be affected at all.
“Good, my mind is at peace. In the future, I should use this card intermittently to train my mental fortitude.”
Satisfied, Dekan remarked.
“If you could create a card that distinguishes friend from foe, there wouldn’t be so much trouble.”
After a while, a familiar, soft voice surfaced in his mind.
“I can’t do that. You know how difficult it is to add ally-enemy identification to a range spell!”
Dekan complained to his Master.
“Your skills aren’t up to par.”
The Master simply stated the fact dispassionately.
Dekan frowned, appearing irritable.
“You’re mocking me because your own desires have been amplified by ‘Three Corpse Frenzy,’ aren’t you? You couldn’t hold off your mockery any longer, could you? Looks like my Master’s mind isn’t as strong as I thought.”
“Say it again?”
“I’ll say it again, so what? You old hag, come out and fight me! If you lose, I’ll push you down and…”
Before he finished, Dekan felt like his throat was being squeezed shut.
“Guh… guh… I’m back to my senses! I was influenced by ‘Three Corpse Frenzy,’ hence the irrational words. Thank you, Master, for helping me snap out of it! I always count on you in critical moments!”
Dekan hastily shouted, panic etched on his otherwise respectful face.
“…Hmph. I’ll let you off this time, and only this time.”
“Good night, Master!”
Dekan’s tone became markedly respectful.
“…”
Once he was certain the Master’s presence had faded completely,
Dekan covered his mouth.
A slight smirk finally escaped his lips.
In fact, he hadn’t been influenced at all. He simply wanted to stir things up.
He used the pretense of losing control to give his Master a tongue-lashing and got off scot-free.
It was too gratifying.
Daily mission (1/1).
He’d now have another great way to engage with the Master.
It was a perfect day. Dekan turned off the light and went to sleep, feeling content.
