Chapter 86: Dark Demon Has a Slight Preference for Grilled Squid
“—(っ’? ‘? )— Yawn—”
On the Changing Bridge, Wit and Robert yawned as they entered Traveler’s Street.
The two of them had battled until dawn last night and had only managed to get up at nine in the morning today.
They didn’t go to the cafeteria to eat but headed straight for Traveler’s Street instead.
Over the four days after Monday, they tried to attend their classes and finally accumulated enough credits. They were thinking about coming to pick out a costume set for the masquerade dance on the weekend.
Wit actually already had a Masked Rider outfit.
But firstly, that Masked Rider outfit was so poorly made that he now felt he had been tricked by Senior Leon.
Secondly, he had worn the Masked Rider outfit during his confrontation with that perverted gentleman to hide his identity, so he wanted to buy a better-looking one.
“Have you heard that the three princesses will hide their identities and join the ball? Whoever wins the favor of any one of the princesses can dance with her when the clock strikes twelve?”
Robert seemed to be making small talk, muttering casually.
Wit drooped his eyes, “Not interested.”
Robert continued, “Do you know about the ghost-catching activity on Halloween?”
Wit perked up, “Of course! That’s the best opportunity to earn a lot of credits! With credits, we have everything!”
Robert smiled mysteriously, “Then you probably don’t know who the champion of the third-year group was last year, do you?”
Wit paused, “Why specifically mention the third year… wait, you’re not saying the champion was Senior Pandora, right?”
Robert said proudly, “That’s right. Her name is clearly displayed in the Academy’s prize room! How about it, are you motivated now?”
Wit suddenly stopped, “Robert.”
Robert, “Hm?”
Wit, “This year’s first-year champion is ours!”
Then, energized, Wit entered the well-reputed Velvet Clothing Store to make himself more dashing.
A few minutes later, they fled in disarray.
“It’s too expensive, isn’t it?”
“What are we going to use our credits for if we spend them all on this?”
“Maybe we should wait until next weekend?”
“That might be a good idea.”
“I’m a bit hungry, Wit.”
“Let’s find something to eat.”
…
So, Wit and Robert dejectedly headed towards the street where many restaurants were clustered.
By chance, they passed by the Waltz Music Restaurant and saw Dark and his trio through the glass, along with the high-end ice cream in front of Diana and Rose.
“Gululu—”
Wit swallowed his saliva and whispered, “Robert, how many credits does that triple-layer chocolate-strawberry melon ice cream cost?”
Robert, “It seems to be 19 credits…”
Wit, “Almost two classes worth!”
Robert, “Sip—”
Wit, “Wait a little longer, just a little longer. After Halloween, we’ll definitely be able to afford it.”
Robert, “Actually, we could afford it now.”
Wit, “Don’t joke around. We need these credits to buy materials.”
Robert, “Actually, I have a compromise.”
Wit, “Hmm?”
…
Leaning against a maple tree, Scott pretended to read the newspaper. He glanced at them unintentionally and then revealed a slight sneer.
Among these two, one was the Hero’s Child, and the other… was someone he had bound before.
“So you’re the follower of the Hero’s Child? I thought he was like me, having nothing. If I had known earlier… ”
…
Dark ate the ice cream slowly.
He was in a pretty good mood today, even though it slightly deviated from his plan, he still gained something.
Diana and Rose ate the ice cream while playing around, with cream gradually sticking to their lips.
Wit and Robert pushed open the door and ordered a large cup of 19-credit ice cream and two spoons at the counter.
Seeing their appearance, Dark was a bit surprised but did not pay much attention.
“Dark, let’s team up for the Halloween activities!”
Diana and Rose also talked about the masquerade dance.
Dark was puzzled, “Can we team up for that event?”
“Of course!” Diana licked the white cream off the corner of her mouth with her pink tongue, whispering, “I heard that seniors often do this. Teamwork increases the efficiency of catching ‘ghosts,’ and when evaluating points at the end, the total can be concentrated on one person to vie for the grade champion!”
Dark was taken aback, “Isn’t that cheating?”
Diana was confused, “But everyone does it!”
Dark smiled gently, “Then do you know how many grade champions have won this way?”
Diana used the handle of her spoon to push her dimple, thinking for a long time before saying, “I don’t think anyone has.”
Dark, “Then that’s settled.”
He lowered his head, took a bite of the ice cream, and then said, “This masquerade dance can be seen as a test to verify the results of the past two months. If I team up with you, your test effect will be greatly reduced.”
Diana thought for a moment and smiled, “Alright, I’ll follow your lead!”
…
Around ten thirty.
Dark bid farewell to them reluctantly under Diana’s lingering gaze, then walked past the two Heroes and exited the Waltz Music Restaurant.
He was quite interested in the ghost-catching activity on the eve of Halloween, mainly for the credits. As for the grade champion, whoever wants it can have it.
A few minutes later.
He left the bustling food street filled with restaurants and turned into a quiet, old street.
Traveler’s Street wasn’t popular everywhere, some shops were always deserted.
Shop owners need to do business; if no one came, they would have to close down eventually.
Before he got familiar with the area, he had come here before, but this was the first time he came voluntarily.
But people always have to have their first time.
Turning into the back of an abandoned old shop, Dark stopped, turned around, and silently counted to three-two-one in his heart.
Then, a person wearing a squid costume emerged from behind the wall.
Dark carefully examined this person and asked curiously, “So you’ve followed me all the way because I love squid?”
Scott’s voice, filtered through the costume, sounded hoarse, “Damn it, it’s not squid, it’s a squid!”
Dark shook his head, “We’re both seafood, who cares? Tell me directly, why are you following me?”
Scott, “I wasn’t following you.”
Dark, “?”
Scott, “I’m just a squid passing by here by chance.”
Dark, “??”
Scott, “Are you collecting love fortune cards?”
