Chapter 9: Cornelia Starts to Excel in Communication
The next day, students who had passed the exams began to move into the dormitories one after another.
Before dawn, Dekan was already up and packed, heading towards the academy. He didn’t want to wait in a long queue.
Since everyone else was still sleeping, he could get to the dormitory early and arrange everything properly.
After collecting the student ID and uniforms at the service building of the Knight Academy, Dekan proceeded directly to the dormitory building.
The student dormitory of the Knight Academy was an unbelievably large skyscraper that made Dekan gaze in admiration.
“My room must be huge too,” he thought excitedly. “This is something to look forward to.”
Eagerly, he approached the administration room located near the entrance to the dormitory and inquired, “Excuse me, I’d like to check into the dorm.”
“Please show me your student ID.”
After a quick verification, the administrator handed over a key with a numbered tag.
“Here’s your key. The first floor of the dormitory building is the restaurant, the second floor is the store, the third floor is the communal lounge, floors four to nine are the dormitory rooms, and the tenth floor is the observatory. Boys enter their dormitories from the left staircase on the third floor, while girls enter from the right staircase….”
“Wait a moment! Why are you telling me how to get to the girls’ dormitory?”
“I thought students your age might find that interesting, but never mind.”
“Still, please finish what you started. A scholar values completeness.”
“….”
The administrator paused briefly, silently contemplating how many martial arts students could possibly settle down to study. But he continued, “You can visit the girls’ dormitory after registering at the management office. The same applies to the other three academies’ dormitories. However, if you are complained about, there’s a high chance you might lose this privilege…”
“Thank you, may you have a wonderful day.”
After thanking the administrator, Dekan continued to bring in his luggage.
Without lingering on the first three floors, Dekan arrived at the hotel-like fourth floor.
“Fourth floor… Room four,” Dekan compared his room number to the doorplates in the hallway.
‘This number is auspicious.’
Having found his room, Dekan immediately brought his luggage inside.
The process was exhausting, and he took a long rest on the sofa to catch his breath. However, Dekan decided he should start organizing without delay to avoid dragging it out.
He took in his new residence; it had a warm color palette with a distinctly European style, lending it a touch of retro charm. The interior was well-lit, and the balcony was adorned with green plants and various flowers, creating an atmosphere that was lively.
The dorm consisted of four main spaces. After stepping through the entrance was a large living room connecting to the bedroom, bathroom, and storage room.
The furniture was complete, and the storage capacity was ample.
After quickly checking out the bedroom and the bathroom, Dekan headed to the storage room.
This storage room presented many possibilities for the students. They could choose to convert it into a study, training room, or simply use it as storage.
Dekan was delighted with the spacious storage room. He decided to turn it into his future small workshop. After all, he aspired to become a master in magical card creation!
…
The task of organizing went smoothly, and Dekan had completed it all by the morning.
Dekan touched his stomach; maybe because of the work, he felt a little hungry before noon.
“Hmm, what should I have for lunch?”
“I’ll go and ask Trecia if she has any recommendations.”
He now trusted Trecia’s food suggestions. The delicacies he enjoyed on the way to the Capital City, along with the bakery Trecia liked, suited Dekan’s taste.
“She’s in the Mage Academy; it’s time to visit the girls’ dormitory.”
Just as Dekan was about to leave for Trecia,
“Knock, knock!”
The door to Dormitory 404 was tapped.
“Coming, coming.”
He wasn’t sure who would be knocking on his door at this time.
Could it be a neighbor coming to say hello? Or has Trecia thought of the same thing as me?
Dekan quickly went to open the door.
A red-haired girl stood before him.
Dekan closed the door, then opened it again.
After confirming he opened the door correctly, he realized the red-haired girl was still standing outside.
Having a beautiful girl visit on the first day in the dormitory was undoubtedly a joyous occasion.
But.
Dekan observed his doorplate, with his pupils contracting sharply.
On the corridor side, the door displayed an obvious indentation!
Your knocking has a bit of a threatening nature!
Although somewhat frightened, Dekan quickly guessed the identity of the girl based on what Trecia told him before.
This year’s Knight Academy entrance exam had a special candidate: Cornelia.
In the entrance exam, she had directly defeated a fourth-stage examiner, causing quite a stir in the viewing hall.
This terrifying strength certainly belonged to her.
But why… did she come to see him?
Could it be because he took away her first place, so she came to cause trouble?
Dekan’s expression became tense.
However, Cornelia, realizing Dekan’s thoughts, reassured him: “No, I’m not here to cause trouble.”
“So, why are you here?”
Dekan sighed in relief.
This young woman’s strength was comparable to a fourth stage, and it was said she would fight ferociously. The kind who would not hesitate to initiate combat even with the knowledge of a sixty times pain feedback.
If she struck a blow, he’d most likely be crushed, box and all.
“Fight… fight with me.”
Cornelia was a foreigner and not very proficient in the language of the Norton Kingdom. It took her a great effort to articulate one sentence, which made her somewhat flustered.
“No!”
As soon as she finished speaking, Dekan’s face paled as he gave a firm refusal.
Cornelia: “Why…”
Dekan: “I’ll lose.”
Before Cornelia could finish her sentence, Dekan had already interrupted her.
He felt tormented just hearing her speak, and his blood pressure skyrocketed by the time she finished saying a single sentence.
This surprised Cornelia greatly.
It seemed like she had mustered the courage and tentatively uttered a word, “Know?” How do you know you’ll lose?
Dekan answered, “My frontal combat power is very weak.”
“…”
Cornelia discovered that even with just a few words, Dekan could understand what she meant!
How wonderful, there is actually someone in the world who communicates so easily!
Cornelia: “Know?” Can you really understand this way of speaking?
Dekan: “I understand.”
Their communication gradually improved.
Cornelia: “Practice?” Can’t you spar with me a little?
Dekan: “No.”
For you to come to the boys’ dormitory is already unreasonable.
Cornelia’s expression turned slightly disappointed as she hung her head.
She glanced at Dekan with a touch of sorrow and then walked away despondently.
“Huff —”
Dekan sighed in relief.
Sparring with her?
Not to mention whether Cornelia could endure the pain feedback.
If the Phantom Canyon technique wasn’t used, he would certainly perish!
Despite Dekan being an expert in opportunistic attacks, he dared not tangle with someone so reckless.
In an all-out fight between the two, it would undoubtedly end in mutual destruction.
Fortunately, Cornelia turned out to be a reasonable person; otherwise, there would have been a dormitory massacre today!
Dekan couldn’t help but feel a slight fear after Cornelia’s visit…
