Chapter 90: Fish Character

Sitting in the chair, Dorothy did not immediately flip through the “Praise of the Cup Mother,” but instead placed it aside. She then closed and put away the suitcase on the table, and from the side, picked up another suitcase and placed it on the table.

This suitcase was stolen by Brandon from the An Yin Bureau, containing items sealed within the bureau’s storage. Although much was lost due to the sudden attack by the fierce elderly lady at the front desk, some things remained.

Taking a deep breath, Dorothy opened the suitcase and began to check its contents. She found that there were indeed fewer items than expected. Besides a few spirit-storing objects, there was also an extraordinary item.

Firstly, Dorothy discovered six gold coins engraved with the sun symbol and two silver coins engraved with the moon symbol in the suitcase, along with a small stone sculpture about the size of a thumb. Each gold coin stored one unit of “Lamp,” each silver coin stored one unit of “Shadow,” and the small statue stored “Stone.”

After examining the spirit-storing objects, Dorothy turned her attention to the remaining extraordinary item in the suitcase. It was an old book with a copper cover, devoid of any markings or text on its cover. After carefully inspecting it from both sides, she opened it and saw yellowed blank pages from beginning to end. There wasn’t a single word inside, just like a draft notebook.

Looking at the blank book in front of her, Dorothy couldn’t help but comment. Of course, she knew that the items stolen from the An Yin Bureau wouldn’t be ordinary. Fortunately, the identification ritual was relatively simple. Soon, Dorothy had everything prepared. Then, she actively activated the Identification Technique, consuming the “Lamp” spirit. The gold coin on the array instantly dimmed, and information about the identified item directly appeared in Dorothy’s mind.

“The words written in this book will sail within the book. If infused with the ‘Enlightenment’ spirit, the words will sail into the Literary Sea. The words written in the book will always remain linked to this book.”

‘What kind of nonsense is this? A book that can make words sail?’

Reviewing the results of the identification in her mind, Dorothy was bewildered. She didn’t understand the book’s purpose right away. Frowning, she began to ponder.

‘This means that… the words written can undergo some special changes, making them sail. But what exactly does “sailing” mean? I need to experiment a bit.’

While thinking, Dorothy directly unfolded the blank book in front of her and picked up a pen, ready to write something. However, she hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to write.

After some thought, she wrote a Prith word on the blank page.

The letters were imprinted on the page. Then, Dorothy picked up the pen and stared at the elegant script, waiting for changes. And these changes did not take long.

Dorothy saw that the letters on the yellowed page began to visibly twist slightly, as if coming alive!

Then, this word seemed to become a little fish, wriggling around the page, moving back and forth like a living creature.

‘Wow, it’s moving… how fun…’

Seeing this scene, Dorothy couldn’t help but feel curious, watching the word swim across the page with increasing interest. However, after a while, she began to wonder.

‘It’s fun… but what’s the use of it?’

Looking at the swimming word on the page, Dorothy rubbed her chin, trying to think of what this book could be used for. After pondering for a long time, she still couldn’t come up with anything.

‘Ah… this seems like a useless function. Is this all the extraordinary item kept by the An Yin Bureau?’

Looking at the swimming word in front of her, Dorothy really couldn’t think of any other use besides as a magic performance. Then, she suddenly realized that this book was an “Enlightenment” extraordinary item. Could infusing “Enlightenment” into it cause any changes?

Seeing this, Dorothy was startled. She flipped to the next page and saw that the word was now swimming there, but after a couple of movements, it rushed to the next page again.

‘This… can it swim between pages?’

Continuing to flip through the pages, Dorothy watched her written word swim from page to page, and when it reached the last page, it swam out of the page’s edge and disappeared.

Seeing this, Dorothy flipped through the entire book from beginning to end but found no trace of the swimming word. This word seemed to have directly swum out of the book!

Dorothy was momentarily stunned. Then, she noticed the corner of her eye catching sight of a newspaper on the table. Dorothy found that the word she wrote was continuously swimming among the lines of the newspaper, then exited from the edge of the page, reappearing on Dorothy’s textbook.

‘Can this thing swim from one book to another?’

Seeing this, Dorothy immediately understood the deeper function of the book. Just as she was about to continue studying the words that had swum out of the book, the word continued to swim out of Dorothy’s textbook, into a book she couldn’t see on the bookshelf, then out of her room, into other texts in the apartment building. Its speed increased rapidly, and in an instant, it swam out of Nanyang Road, out of Igewent, and into the vast expanse of the Literary Sea.

Seeing the vanished words on the table, Dorothy’s lips twitched slightly. Then, she thought,

‘Is this too much fun…’
