Chapter 92. The Clown Is Actually Me
Mu Yiting was surprised that Qin Shili had actually come over.
She didn’t like this woman with the surname Qin, but she still had to put on a facade of being a good girl and greeted her with a smile, “Hello, Shili Martial Sister.”
Qin Shili did not respond verbally, instead nodding slightly, her attention primarily focused on Lin Nuo.
Mu Yiting had her reasons for disliking this woman; everyone from the Xuanyun Sect treated her sweet smile with utmost respect, but this woman was proud and cold, looking down on everyone.
Lin Nuo sighed, wondering how he ended up attracting the ice princess Qin Shili while roasting a white pigeon.
“Is there something you need?”
Lin Nuo glanced at Qin Shili before returning his focus to the roasting pigeon.
“I’ve noticed you seem to like these.”
Qin Shili took out a box of Huaji Canned Meat Floss Cake and placed it beside Lin Nuo.
Qin Shili was calculated in her approach; she wasn’t blindly trying to get to know Lin Nuo. After observing him for a few days, she learned about his dietary preferences and habits. Most notably, he liked Meat Floss Cake, so she decided to try it herself, found it acceptable, and then had someone buy a large stock of it to keep in her room.
She wouldn’t waste space on just any trinket, but she was willing to make room for Meat Floss Cake.
Lin Nuo took a look and thought, Meat Floss Cake, just as he finished his. Speaking of which, why did this woman bring more?
Without a hint of hesitation, Qin Shili sat down beside Lin Nuo, intently staring at him.
“Aren’t you going to eat?”
Qin Shili even offered it right in front of him.
“Busy.”
Lin Nuo’s attention was solely on the pigeon on the skewer, it was crucial to ensure it didn’t burn; Meat Floss Cake could wait.
“Is it tasty?”
Qin Shili pointed at the roasting pigeon.
“It’s okay.”
Lin Nuo didn’t glance at her and continued focusing on the pigeon; it was fatty enough, roasting well, and would be satisfying to eat.
Qin Shili’s gaze swept over to Mu Yiting, surprised to see Lin Nuo with her.
Someone like him shouldn’t be so common as to be grilling meat with Mu Yiting, right? She trusted her instincts about people.
Moreover, he wasn’t even eating the Meat Floss Cake but was intently focused on the pigeon, which baffled her.
“Are you tired of the old and looking for the new?”
“What do you mean?”
“These cakes and this pigeon.”
“Sorry, I want both. But the pigeon takes priority for roasting and eating first.”
Lin Nuo noticed the pigeon was about done and turned to get the pepper he brought.
Just as he turned his head, Qin Shili leaned closer, and at that moment, their lips accidentally brushed against each other.
“Why are you so close?”
Lin Nuo instinctively shifted a little to the side; it was too weird for the usually cold and proud Qin Shili to suddenly lean in.
Qin Shili gently swept aside her silky silver hair, her expression still icy, and replied flatly, “Did I disturb you?”
“No, but I just kissed you, so I guess that counts as a win for me.”
“Is that so?”
Qin Shili tapped her red lips with her fingertip.
“I didn’t feel anything; is that really something you enjoy?”
“My Second Martial Sister, you wouldn’t have forgotten the past, would you? I actually quite liked it.”
“You’re being insincere, just trying to hit me where it hurts,” Qin Shili said coldly.
“I really can’t fathom why you’d accuse someone you’ve rejected of being insincere; is this a double blow?”
Lin Nuo shook his head, unable to understand this woman’s logic. He reached out to grab the pepper to sprinkle on the roasted pigeon. Back then, just accidentally kissing Qin Shili would’ve had him exhilarated for days.
But now? It was just a brief touch of lips—no big deal at all. Eating Meat Floss Cake seemed far more exciting.
Lin Nuo remained calm and casually continued roasting the fatty pigeon, while Qin Shili watched him as if nothing had happened.
“Is it tasty?”
“Don’t know; your mouth doesn’t grow on me.”
“You just touched it; shouldn’t you know?”
“Your logic is weird; you should taste it yourself.”
Lin Nuo took down the skewer with the roasted pigeon and handed it to Qin Shili.
“Take it yourself.”
“Okay.”
Qin Shili took a piece from the roasted pigeon, putting it in her mouth and savoring it.
“Mm, it’s quite tasty. Can I have more?”
“Take a leg and eat over there.”
Lin Nuo deliberately tore off a leg from the roasted pigeon and handed it to Qin Shili.
Mu Yiting watched this scene unfold; they really looked like an old married couple, casually sharing a kiss and passing food as if it was nothing.
She found it quite strange. Remembering that Lin Nuo used to pursue Qin Shili, it was well known how he had been ignored. Here was a pure-hearted boy stubbornly chasing the cold ice princess, only to face rejection time and again and be ridiculed by those around him.
She had mocked him silently in the past, but on the surface, she played along, saying encouraging words to maintain her own image, as she always thought of him as a clown.
But now? Seeing Qin Shili and Lin Nuo passing food and kissing like it was normal made her realize—they must have been putting on an act to confuse everyone!
So, the clown is actually me?!
