Chapter 936: Dark Demon and So-Called Pure Blood (4k)
Professor Kazel said, “It seems you already know their purpose?”
Dark nodded and said, “It appears Professor you have as well…”
Kazel hurriedly waved his hands, saying, “No, no, no, I don’t know anything about it. However, the four young elves have a status distinctly different from other elves. Moreover, they are all elf mages.”
Dark paused slightly before tapping his fingers on the table.
Professor Kazel understood and immediately a silent barrier enveloped them.
Dark raised his hand to his lips and briefly recounted the information he had gathered.
“Indeed,” Professor Kazel silently dispelled the barrier and said, “This is advantageous for us.”
“Yes,” Dark replied.
The other three factions had clear objectives, and those objectives did not conflict with theirs; in fact, they were all within the Heavenly Court.
There was no better situation than this.
With Aurora’s connection now, it should not be difficult to reach an agreement with the elemental race.
At that time, the noble faction (Northern Territory, Royal Family), the Church of the Saints, and the elemental side would be restrained by similar purposes, allowing the academy to mediate and gain benefits.
However, things did not develop as Dark had imagined.
Around three o’clock, Professor Metia seized the opportunity and proposed a cooperation request to the High Priestess of the Moon Elves.
High Priestess Bellamy Artemis did not respond immediately but instead led them to a meeting room.
The wooden house serving as the meeting room was spacious. Two middle-aged elves entered with them, both assistants to Bellamy Artemis—one a moon elf and the other a grassland elf.
The four young elves were not invited.
About ten people convened in the meeting room to formally discuss matters. Aurora finally found an opportunity to sneak beside Dark and quietly stuck out her tongue at him.
Dark couldn’t help but smile.
Today was indeed a joyous day for Aurora. The main negotiators were Professors Metia and Kazel, while Dark merely listened.
Based on previous friendly interactions, the atmosphere at the beginning of the meeting was relaxed. However, as both sides expressed their intentions, the mood gradually turned serious. Bellamy Artemis might be a doting grandmother, but she was not a soft-hearted person.
During the negotiations, she firmly stood by the elemental race, not budging an inch, and clearly demanded that the academy explain its true purpose before considering cooperation.
Just this point alone stalled the entire negotiation.
Afterwards, Professors Kazel and Metia made multiple efforts and promises, which finally eased Bellamy Artemis’s tone.
The negotiations began to progress positively. However, just as they were about to finalize the deal, High Priestess Bellamy Artemis suddenly asked if the cooperation was exclusively with the elemental race.
Naturally, this could not be concealed.
Professor Kazel answered frankly.
As a result, the almost finalized cooperation fell through. High Priestess Bellamy Artemis decisively stated, “I have felt your sincerity, but unfortunately, the elemental race cannot cooperate with the Church of the Saints nor with the cunning nobles of the kingdom. Therefore, today’s negotiations can only end here.”
Though her tone was calm, it revealed her firm stance. Professors Kazel and Metia remained silent.
Bellamy Artemis continued, “Although cooperation is impossible, considering Aurora, if you encounter danger during exploration, we will not completely ignore it. Additionally, thank you for your notification. We will also set off early tomorrow. Hopefully, we can meet smoothly in the Heavenly Court then.”
“High Priestess,” Professor Metia frowned and asked, “Is there really no room for negotiation?”
Bellamy Artemis shook her head firmly, “None.”
“Grandmother…” Aurora hesitated for a long time, forcing out two words. But Bellamy Artemis looked at her gently and said, “Even if we overlook past grievances, what the Church of the Saints and the noble kingdom seek is exactly the same as what we desire. There will inevitably be hostility between us and them. Since we are enemies, there’s no need to pretend to be allies beforehand.”
The elemental race’s thinking is very straightforward, without many twists and turns. They are not unaware of mediation; they simply do not want to mediate.
At this point, there was no further need to continue the discussion. “Since that’s the case, let’s each go our separate ways,” Professor Metia sighed and said, “But there’s no need for enmity between us. Should the elemental race face any insurmountable problems, they can come to us. We hope our tasks will proceed smoothly.”
After saying these conciliatory words, Professor Metia rose to take leave. But High Priestess Bellamy Artemis immediately raised her hand, “Although cooperation has failed, it doesn’t mean friendship is gone. Would you all like to stay for dinner?”
While speaking, her gaze remained fixed on Aurora.
Building a friendship with the elemental race before the mission began was indeed a temporary measure under the circumstances of failing to reach an agreement.
However, the professors had already spent a whole day in the elemental camp. They needed to return to the camp, summarize their gains, and make final preparations for the next day’s departure.
In the end, Aurora and Dark were left behind… Of course, Nix, Chris, and Angrey were also there.
Chris continued to hide in Dark’s shadow. Angrey was Dark’s personal maid and bodyguard.
As for Olivia, she returned with the professors. She needed to relay every detail of the day’s events to the professors in place of Dark.
High Priestess Bellamy Artemis’s original target was Aurora alone. Whether the professors stayed or not was irrelevant to her, so she accepted the outcome immediately.
Only when Dark introduced himself did her expression change slightly.
Elders always have sharp eyes.
Although Bellamy Artemis appeared young, her actual age warranted the term “elder.”
After focusing her attention on Dark, she almost immediately discerned the relationship between him and Aurora.
Yet, she still asked, “So, what is your relationship with our Aurora?”
Upon hearing this, Aurora’s cheeks flushed instantly. But Dark replied calmly, “Aurora’s mother and my mother are close friends and comrades. We’ve known each other since childhood and are currently studying at Saint Maryann Academy.”
Bellamy Artemis slightly furrowed her brows, “That’s all?”
Dark smiled faintly and said, “For the next few years, she will temporarily reside at my home.”
Bellamy Artemis looked down at her obedient granddaughter and said, “Living under the same roof?”
Dark replied, “Yes.”
