Chapter 953: Frustration and Desperation
Qin Shili’s attitude remained quite firm. Even if Master Zhao wanted to expel her from the sect, she would comply without standing against Lin Nuo.
Her heart was with Lin Nuo; since Liu Shuqin could fall for him, she could too. Regardless of Liu Shuqin’s intentions, she was sure she could do the same.
After all, it was Lin Nuo’s presence that gave her a sense of purpose, and he was the only man she admired.
However, her attitude wasn’t overly aggressive; she didn’t confront Master Zhao and Han Fairy head-on but attempted to reason with them.
In reality, reasoning was futile—they weren’t really listening.
If she had to leave, she would just have to accept it.
“Shili, does this mean you’re defending Lin Nuo? Don’t tell me you’ve lost your sense of right and wrong?”
“I’m not defending anyone, Master. These are just my personal views, which might contradict yours. But I stand by my beliefs. If you can’t accept that, then I’ll have to leave—it’s as simple as that. I have no intention of defending anyone.”
Qin Shili seemed to imply she wasn’t directly opposing Master Zhao, but, in fact, she was.
This infuriated Master Zhao and Han Fairy. With talented individuals reducing in number within the Xuanyun Sect, how could they not be upset now?
Lin Nuo truly had methods that turned Qin Shili’s head around; she was starting to show favoritism towards him.
Master Zhao, in his frustration, would never actually expel Qin Shili from the Xuanyun Sect—if he did, they wouldn’t have any talents left. At the very least, Qin Shili was a standout among the younger generation, and losing her would be detrimental to the sect.
Moreover, if she left the Xuanyun Sect, she would no longer be bound by its rules, and they wouldn’t be able to stop her at that point.
“Kexin, what do you think?”
They turned to Su Kexin, seeking her opinion.
“I… If I must be forced out of the sect, I will accept the punishment.”
Su Kexin also stood her ground. If everyone else was leaving, what was she supposed to stay for? This sect held nothing for her anymore.
As for her master, she genuinely did hold Lin Nuo in low regard; her impression of him had plummeted. After all, someone like her Senior Martial Brother should have been prioritized. Everything he did was for the people and the common folk.
They didn’t understand, but she couldn’t afford not to understand; she had to support him.
Certainly, Master Zhao had just brought this humiliation upon himself by exposing the two girls’ stances, and now both of them supported Lin Nuo, ready to leave the Xuanyun Sect if needed.
Master Zhao: “…Do you even know what you’re saying? Have you forgotten everything we taught you?”
“We haven’t forgotten, Master. It’s just that, in this matter, I still wish to believe and support my Senior Martial Brother. The fact is, no matter how compliant we were, our achievements pale in comparison to his. His thoughts may not be accepted by everyone, making him a lonely figure, but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong.”
Su Kexin delivered a heap of theories that left the elders utterly speechless.
Lin Nuo watched with delight; this was great—they were no longer listening to their elders, leaving them to stew in frustration.
Let that lousy Xuanyun Sect shut down!
Luo Xiaoxue looked around, utterly puzzled, as if she were an outsider unable to get involved in the mess.
At this rate, Master Zhao and the others had no recourse but to slowly backtrack, allowing Qin Shili and Su Kexin to return to the Xuanyun Sect for the time being.
He sighed and said, “Fine. One day, you will understand. You will follow Han Fairy back to Tianling Mountain; there are matters to attend to in the sect.”
“I’m busy right now; I cannot return.”
Qin Shili flatly rejected him. In the past, she wouldn’t have had the audacity to do so. She understood all too well that if she went back, she might not come out again, or worse, be prohibited from leaving the Xuanyun Sect.
She was well aware of these calculations.
“What urgent matter? Can you not even heed my words?”
Master Zhao said coldly, to which Qin Shili countered yet again: “The capital has just stabilized; I need to stay here. If the Demon Practitioners come again, the common people will suffer. Moreover, Lin Nuo is here, which indicates this place is more important, so I shall remain.”
It was all about Lin Nuo…
She might as well be saying she wanted to marry him; everything was pointing in his direction.
Similarly, Su Kexin felt the same way: “I… I won’t be going back either… I must stay with my Senior Martial Brother…”
It was practically a rebellion; both disciples were disobedient, which left Master Zhao furious.
If I can’t handle one Lin Nuo, can’t I just deal with you two as well?
“Then don’t blame me for being rude.”
Master Zhao was furious. He began to channel his spirit, sending a wave of energy rushing toward Su Kexin and Qin Shili.
The energy surged quickly, morphing into a mist that wrapped around them, making their movements laborious and tough to escape.
Going for the hard approach, huh?
Lin Nuo saw this and thought, What an old dog this guy is—he’s really furious now.
You old dog, if you force Su Kexin to unleash her explosive power, you might just meet your end right here.
However, this mist wouldn’t harm them; it merely restrained them, and Su Kexin’s physique could determine that this was not Demon Qi; she wouldn’t explode under it.
The two girls struggled against the binding mist, showing discomfort on their faces.
This was an internal matter of the sect, and Lin Nuo could have just watched from the sidelines, enjoying the show.
But now, he couldn’t just sit back.
The simplest reason was that he couldn’t stand seeing this old man using such despicable tactics simply because he couldn’t control his own disciples.
Lin Nuo took a deep breath, his spiritual energy surging throughout his body. In an instant, he dashed toward Master Zhao.
Fall of the sword.
Bang!
Master Zhao hurriedly erected the Spirit Shield, but with the dragon and phoenix soul erupting from Lin Nuo’s sword, it directly shattered Master Zhao’s spell.
The mist around Su Kexin and Qin Shili vanished, allowing them to catch their breath, as being bound was, after all, unpleasant.
*Cough cough…*
They coughed and started to feel somewhat better.
“Lin Nuo, it seems your target is those two, right? How could you interfere in our sect’s matters?”
“Sorry, I can’t stand your so-called ‘master’ incompetence. If you can command them to return, I’ll respect you. Using brute force? Pfft, that’s all you can do.”
After breaking the spell, Lin Nuo pulled Su Kexin and Qin Shili back to avoid entering Master Zhao’s spell range again.
“Lin Nuo.”
“Senior Martial Brother…”
It was a moment of heroically saving the damsels. Admiration flickered in their eyes for Lin Nuo.
“Honestly, you two are too slow to react. How could you let yourselves get caught?”
Lin Nuo shook his head, retracting his sword.
“So, are you planning to kidnap them? Go ahead, try. If you can do it, then bring it on.”
Who would’ve thought you wouldn’t even be able to control your disciples’ fate, and you can’t even order them back? Isn’t that pathetic?
Master Zhao was furious; Lin Nuo was openly provoking him, and as a reputable teacher, he couldn’t tolerate such disrespect.
Channeling his energy, he was determined to bring these two female cultivators back.
He struck.
Master Zhao charged forward, and Lin Nuo blocked his way.
