Tsukasa mentioned he was hungry and left the principal’s office.
That left only me and the principal remaining.
“Is it alright, Principal?”
“What do you mean?”
The principal returned my question with their usual smile.
“Of course, I’m talking about those two. The next head of Iver and the child of La Folle. La Folle’s grandmother intends to entrust Erik to Tsukasa and Toko in the future.”
I’ve heard that those three get along well, and Erik is an excellent person, but the Nasure siblings actually possess something even someone like Erik lacks.
“Hmm … That’s true, isn’t it? He hasn’t decided his future path yet.”
“That’s true, but no matter which path Tsukasa chooses, La Folle will never let go.”
I’ve heard that the grandmother doted on her youngest, Giselle.
To the grandmother, the Nasure siblings must be incredibly precious. Moreover, both of them possess high magic power, especially Tsukasa, whose power surpasses all others.
“Does that apply to you?”
Indeed, the grandmother had done quite the sales pitch on her grandchildren. Their selling points were only their high magic power and the fact that they were obedient and good children. She kept going on about it for a while.
I couldn’t help but wonder if there was anything else worth praising.
“I won’t deny it, but I’m not the only candidate, right? Toko has already taken the name La Folle, but Tsukasa hasn’t decided yet. They probably want to secure him before he does something outrageous.”
Indeed, things are starting to look a little problematic.
“Given Tsukasa’s character, it might be better if he didn’t get involved in unnecessary things. He just became a wizard and doesn’t have much attachment or obsession with magic.”
“That is something he will eventually realize.”
“Is that so? Those who possess magic see the world differently.”
Certainly, that child seems to be free from jealousy.
“Why did those two, Iver and La Folle, become so close?”
“It started when Charlene, as the student council president, gave Tsukasa a campus tour. They seem to have bonded from there. Tsukasa is a bright person after all.”
Tsukasa didn’t know Iver and wasn’t particularly interested.
Charlene didn’t realize they were La Folle because her last name was Nasure.
When she did realize, it was too late to turn back. You could see it in Charlene’s eyes just now. That was envy.
“Why would you say something like that…”
My head hurts…
Giselle must be having a tough time too.
“It was sudden, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing.”
“You’re an outsider. La Folle and Iver will absolutely never coexist.”
The principal is from Germany.
“I know that, but students tend to disregard such things and get along anyway. After all, weren’t you and Chloe, who is from the Iver faction, close friends?”
I wouldn’t necessarily call it being close friends, but we did get along well.
“It shouldn’t matter for us. Even though we are from different factions, we don’t directly compete. But the next head of Iver and Tsukasa is different. It’s very troublesome.”
“Hmm, it will be fine, learning opportunities and all that. I just want the students to lead a life without regrets.”
It just seems like trouble to me…
◆◇◆…
After leaving the principal’s office, I returned to the dormitory and headed towards Frank’s room.
“Hey, Frank! Are you in?”
“Wait a sec!”
I heard a response from inside, so I waited.
After a while, the door opened, and Frank appeared.
“Sorry, sorry. I was working on my sword. What do you need?”
“I thought we’d grab lunch.”
“Nah, I already ate. You’re late.”
I kind of expected that.
“I’m eating alone, so why don’t we head to the cafeteria together?”
“Watch me eat? No thanks… Come inside. I’ll keep doing maintenance, but help yourself to some food.”
Frank let me in. It was the first time I’d entered his room, and its size and layout were the same as mine.
Still, unlike my bare room, his was filled with a bed, a desk, and weapons and armor scattered everywhere.
“I thought you wouldn’t let people in.”
“I rarely do. The vibe’s just like that.”
“Ah, I see.”
“I’ll lend you the table. Have your meal.”
With that, Frank offered me the table, and I started laying out my lunch. Frank sat on the bed and began inspecting his sword.
“Cedric probably wouldn’t let you in, huh?”
“Probably not. Actually, I’ve never been inside either.”
“Hey, you can come by my room anytime, though. Nothing’s there except for emptiness though.”
No desk either.
“You’re basically living at home.”
“Yeah, sure. But damn, your place is like an arms violation.”
“Weapons are consumables. What else can I do?”
“Does it really wear out that much?”
“We’re pouring magic power into them to increase their power—they break easily. Oh, and there are those people like someone-somewhere who break them for kicks.”
Matthias was just weak.
“Hmm… no trident, huh?”
While eating, I looked around the room again. There were swords and halberds, but no trident or spear in sight.
“I don’t own one. By the way, what’s up with the principal thing?”
“They said Mr. Wallace resigned, and there won’t be any more part-time pay.”
Let’s leave it at that for now.
“Ah, he’s gone? Well, that happens. We can always go hunting bears again, right?”
“Exactly! That’s why I came. I’m tired of the forest. Let’s go to the river this time.”
“The river? Why the river all of a sudden?”
Because Toko isn’t around.
“Because it’s summer.”
Your reasoning is still as incomprehensible as ever… But it’s true we’ve spent enough time in the forest. There’s a river area, so let’s go there.
“Will Cedric come?”
“He’ll probably come. Even if he doesn’t do much, he tends to tag along with friends.”
That’s true.
“Alright, I’ll invite him too.”
“Sounds good. By the way, are you alright with reptiles like lizards?”
“No problem.”
“How about alligators?”
Huh?
“Will there be alligators?”
“It’s a river…?”
It should be Toko speaking.
“Yeah, probably fine. I don’t know since Japan doesn’t have alligators…”
“Germany doesn’t have them either.”
Oh…
“Regardless, we should be fine. Plus, they seem profitable.”
Isn’t alligator leather expensive?
“Could be. How about we go sometime this weekend?”
“Saturday is out.”
“You’re always busy on Saturdays, huh?”
“I have a study session with my private teacher.”
Ms. Charlene.
A kind and intelligent teacher. Sometimes she lets her hobbies run wild, though.
“Is that so… Well, it’s good. How about Sunday then?”
“Sure thing… Hey Frank, that sword looks cool. Can I borrow it?”
Frank’s sword was shining.
“Nope. Don’t swing it around in the room.”
Che…
“Then, I can use the halberd instead.”
“You should ask your private teacher what ‘then’ really means.”
Would she teach me that?
Anyway…
