Chapter 96: You Don’t Understand This, Right? Actually, I Don’t Either
“Come on, we’re not ancient Roman gladiators; no need to lecture me on chivalry. Ugh!”
Just when Weirafiya thought she had it all under control, someone suddenly slashed her back, sending her flying!
“Miss? Who the heck are you…?”
Seeing Weirafiya get knocked away, Yaser immediately let go of her to check on her, while glancing at the assailant who attacked her. But once he saw who it was, words failed him.
Seeing the two of them release Diablo, Yake quickly took a step back from him too.
“Diablo, are you okay?”
Titan supported the wobbling Diablo, asking about his condition.
“Not so good. Those guys stole way too much energy; I can’t even stand up.”
“I thought as much. Don’t worry, I brought you this.”
Titan pulled a jar out from his 4-dimensional space and handed it to Diablo.
“Backup energy, huh? Thanks a lot.”
Diablo opened the jar and poured the energy into his chest, recharging himself.
“We’re family, and we won’t just watch you get beaten by them. Let’s team up!”
Titan pointed his sword at Weirafiya and the others, releasing his killing intent.
“Oh!”
With his energy replenished, Diablo returned to fighting form. While he still wanted a one-on-one showdown, since the opponent decided to gang up and had stolen his energy, he saw no need to treat them as true warriors anymore.
“Wait! Picking on little kids isn’t fun, come fight me!”
“That voice… Diablo! Get back!”
Hearing the familiar voice, Titan quickly rolled away.
“What? Ah!”
Diablo, caught off guard, was pressed down by the Ice Dragon King’s paw from above.
“Ice Dragon King! You should be all bruised up after Yake and I teamed up to smash you. How come you’re here?”
Titan stared at him, noticing he had no injuries at all. Hadn’t they just given him a beating? How could he have recovered so quickly? This didn’t make sense.
“Heh, you don’t get it, do you? Honestly, I don’t either. But that’s unimportant. Let’s settle the scores from a few days ago right here, shall we?”
The Ice Dragon King glared at the guy who had injured him mere days ago. He couldn’t possibly let it slide without a proper reckoning!
“Geez, what a series of troublesome events today.”
If it were just Weirafiya and those two humans, Diablo and Titan could handle it. But with the Ice Dragon King added into the mix, victory wasn’t going to come easy anymore.
“Ugh!!! Ah!!!!”
With all his might, Diablo managed to push off the Ice Dragon King’s paw pinning him down and rolled over to Titan’s side.
“Alright. Let’s have an honest battle! If I don’t die today, I’m not letting you guys go!”
The Ice Dragon King let out a roar, staring down the two of them.
“Yare yare, I didn’t realize you had a trump card. Let’s sit this one out; just watching is enough. Yaser, bring me a chair, I want a good seat for the show as they get wrecked.”
“Miss, I think this isn’t really the time for spectating; we should be assisting the Ice Dragon King.”
“You’re right, we have no reason to stand idly by. We must fight together!”
Yaser and Yake drew their weapons, ready to support the Ice Dragon King against the two.
“You guys can just watch from the sidelines; I’m not old enough to need young ones helping me.”
The Ice Dragon King turned and dismissed the eager young fighters, telling them to rest on the side. If he needed their assistance to deal with these two, the news would be utterly laughable.
“But…”
“But what? You don’t trust my strength?”
“No, no, it’s not that we don’t trust you; it’s just that it’s hard to—”
“You just watch! I have some business to settle with them. Next…”
The Ice Dragon King turned back to face the two of them.
“You’d better be prepared for my wrath! Daring to target my daughter and then laying a hand on me? This won’t end easily.”
“Damn it. Diablo, we need to retreat, like, now.”
Titan realized if the Ice Dragon King truly got angry, the following battle would be devastating. There was no point in continuing this fight.
“I refuse! I am not running away! Plus, that Ice Dragon King is incredibly strong; he’s worth the challenge!”
Just then, Diablo’s stubbornness kicked in again, giving Titan a headache.
“What? Planning to run? I won’t let you escape so easily.”
The Ice Dragon King roared, triggering an avalanche that blocked all potential retreat routes.
“Such a nuisance. Diablo, fight seriously! This guy doesn’t allow for any leniency.”
With no other option, Titan unsheathed his sword and prepared to face the Ice Dragon King alongside Diablo.
Meanwhile…
“Gaia!”
Ailin, flying above with Carl, scanned the surroundings to find Gaia and spotted him shortly after, landing right in front of him.
“Ailin? Is it really you?”
Gaia rubbed his eyes, seemingly unable to believe what he was seeing. Had Ailin truly returned to him?
“It’s me. Sorry for barging in to save you.”
Having heard from Aierjisi that Gaia had come to rescue her, she felt both surprised and overjoyed.
“Ailin!”
Gaia rushed forward, tackling Ailin to the ground.
“Hey! Aren’t you a bit old for this? Alright, alright, I’m sorry to have worried you.”
Watching Gaia clinging to her and crying, Ailin reached out to gently pat his head.
“Great news, Gaia! You successfully found her. Everyone, the target has been rescued, prepare to retreat.”
Mios informed the other soldiers while watching the two reunite.
“Gaia, we should get ready to leave; it’s not safe here.”
“Yeah. Ailin, let’s go together.”
“Sure! Though that’s what I’d like to say, but it’s not the right time yet.”
“What do you mean?”
“Aierjisi, she’s still here fighting. What will happen to her if we leave? Right now, she’s alone facing a really strong opponent.”
“That… I’ll go help her. Ailin, you need to hurry and leave with Mios.”
“No way! You wouldn’t be of much help; you’re not her match. I’ll go with you!”
“No! I can’t let you face those dangerous guys again! Trust me! I will successfully return with Aierjisi!”
Gripping Ailin’s shoulders, Gaia locked eyes with her. Seeing the determination in his gaze, Ailin reluctantly let go of her intentions.
“Alright, alright, since you say that, I’ll trust you. Make sure to come back safely!”
“Yeah. Don’t worry; I will return.”
Watching as Mios took Ailin further away, Gaia turned and headed in the direction Ailin had just indicated.
