Chapter 989: Their Dispute
Lin Nuo left the room to meet the Immortal Fox.
Now that Ruo’er wasn’t present, he really didn’t need to show any courtesy to the other party.
The mother-daughter relationship was probably established. However, he was unwilling to hand Ruo’er over.
“How could I possibly give you her? You’re a mother who’s been staying on the Immortal Mountain for so long, and now that things are arranged perfectly for Ruo’er, she’s improved her cultivation, and you come here to recognize her? Am I Lin, the villain, running a charity hall?”
Quickly, he arrived at the scene, and the other party was patiently waiting for him.
The opponent seemed calm on the surface, but Lin Nuo felt that deep inside, she must be seething with indignation.
“What brings you here?” Lin Nuo asked.
“You know my purpose for being here,” the Immortal Fox said.
“I don’t want to guess. If you have something to say, say it; if not, please leave.”
“I have mentioned my situation before, although I don’t know why you’ve been obstructing me. Perhaps I can’t change your mind now; I only have one wish, which is to see her once more.”
“She is currently resting; please don’t disturb her. You should leave,” Lin Nuo flatly refused.
“Resting? Very well. I can come back another day. But I don’t know how you feel about this; can I see her? I sincerely beg you to allow it!”
The Immortal Fox bowed repeatedly, pleading with Lin Nuo for leniency, but he remained unmoved:
“She is not your daughter, and this place is the realm of demons—a place unfit for you immortals. Your presence has already posed a threat to us. Allowing you to leave is already showing enough courtesy. Seriously, it would be easy for me to kill you; I have already given you an opportunity.”
Lin Nuo’s tone grew stern, and his imposing presence made several Immortal Foxes feel a sense of dread.
He exuded the aura of a seasoned general, gazing down at the masses, seemingly ready to destroy the opponent with a mere flick of his finger.
“Really, is it impossible? I just want to see her one more time, then I will leave…”
The Immortal Fox’s voice grew weaker, as if she had lost the courage to resist Lin Nuo.
After all, she couldn’t compete; she had once been saved by Lin Nuo, then attacked him and got knocked out—it was clear how great the gap was.
“I have thought about it. Even if I could reunite with my child, perhaps I wouldn’t be able to protect her. Your strength is very formidable; I hope you will safeguard her well. Even if you are demons, we do not wish to oppose you. While our essence is immortal, we have long been driven out by the immortals. I only hope that while I am still alive, I can find my child.”
The Immortal Fox sighed softly, no longer begging for anything, her eyes reflecting a faint sadness.
However, Lin Nuo was more withdrawn now; after experiencing so much in this life, he was no longer completely cold-hearted. He had changed to some extent.
He often boasted about being an outstanding villain, yet he sometimes would joke that he was not a qualified villain.
This was the contradiction of a villain.
Of course, if it was just a matter of meeting once, he might be able to agree.
No, Lin Nuo, what are you hesitating for? Be a complete villain; their reunion as family has nothing to do with you! Why bother with all this?
Besides, if she were to confirm Ruo’er’s relationship with her, although she had left, who knows she wouldn’t escape and find reinforcements afterwards?
The biggest reinforcement being that Sword Saint guy—an outcome of their past love. Though they were currently at odds, who knew if they would join forces for the child?
Just don’t give her hope.
Just as Lin Nuo was about to completely send them away, a distressed subordinate from the Demon Practitioners rushed in to report:
“Reporting! Demon Ruler! Ruo’er and Ling Meng are having a dispute! Please return quickly to handle this!”
“What kind of dispute??”
Lin Nuo was shocked; wasn’t Ruo’er waiting in his room? How could Ling Meng possibly run into her?
He had only been gone a short while and trouble erupted.
Seeing the anxious demeanor of his subordinate, it didn’t seem like a mere trivial dispute.
Enough already; these little girls mixed together really gave him a headache.
“I have some matters to attend to; I won’t keep you. Farewell.”
Lin Nuo threw this line at the Immortal Fox and then turned to leave.
He needed to get back quickly; the battle between demons and immortals was not a joke.
“Wait, what did you just say about Ruo’er?!”
The Immortal Fox became anxious, but Lin Nuo was already hurrying away, ignoring what she had to say.
“Excuse me, what happened over there?”
The Immortal Fox could only politely ask the remaining Demon Practitioners at the scene.
Honestly, she wouldn’t speak politely to the Demon Practitioners, except for regarding Lin Nuo.
“This is our business and has nothing to do with you. If it weren’t for the Demon Ruler’s kindness, where would you be able to stand here and talk to us? Hurry along; this isn’t a place for you.”
Demons and immortals had always been adversaries, so the Demon Practitioners had no good feelings toward the immortals.
The Immortal Fox had to endure; under normal circumstances, she might have attacked these Demon Practitioners.
Forget it.
She could only take other Immortal Foxes and leave but remained nearby. No matter what, she would see Ruo’er once; she couldn’t just leave like this.
…
A moment prior.
“I wonder if Master has rested yet?”
Ling Meng murmured to herself as she softly approached Lin Nuo’s bedroom.
It was still early, and as a disciple, it was quite improper not to say goodnight to Master.
Of course, this was just an excuse she made for herself.
Saying goodnight was far too simple; being in Master’s room allowed her to see his strong physique more clearly. If she could, it would be wonderful to sleep together with Master.
What a delightful occurrence.
However, just as she was about to reach Lin Nuo’s room, a patrolling Demon Practitioner bowed to her and said:
“Young Master Ling, the Demon Ruler just stepped out for a short while and is not in the room.”
“Just stepped out? Where did he go?”
“We’re not sure; we only saw the Demon Ruler leave.”
“That’s quite unfortunate. Never mind, I’ll wait in the room for Master to return.”
“Young Master Ling… the Demon Ruler instructed that when he is not present, outsiders cannot enter…”
The Demon Practitioner said in a low voice, showing that they still feared Ling Meng’s authority to some extent.
“How dare you! What do you mean by that? Am I an outsider? What kind of closeness do I share with Master? The one who the Demon Ruler wants you to heed is not me!”
“This…”
With Ling Meng’s angry rebuke, the Demon Practitioners immediately dared not retort.
It seemed to have some logic, but the Demon Ruler had given orders; they should at least wait for him to return…
“Young Master Ling, how about you wait outside instead…”
“How dare you! Are you telling me what to do?!”
Ling Meng rebuked again, ignoring their words, and entered the room!
As she was about to go in, she sensed something was off.
Why was there a trace of immortal energy?
Is someone inside?
“Who’s in there?!”
“Uh…”
The Demon Practitioners suddenly fell silent.
“Forget it. I’ll check myself.”
Ling Meng opened the door and found Ruo’er nestled under the blankets on Lin Nuo’s bed.
