# Chapter 1: There’s a White-haired Loli in the Bedding
Nighttime.
Night Starstorm dragged his tired body home and launched himself onto the bed.
“Every day at work—it’s too much; I can’t take it anymore. My heart feels so drained.”
A murmured complaint echoed in the silent room, with no response from anyone.
Lonely and empty.
This was a young man, just 23 years old, named Night Starstorm, who graduated from college a year ago.
His parents had passed away when he was very young, leaving him with nothing but a small room.
Raised by relatives, he went to college, graduated, and has been living a plain and ordinary life ever since.
Today, with a considerable amount of stress and grievances built up, all he wanted was to hide under the covers and have a good cry.
Night Starstorm changed his position, lying flat on his back, his eyes dim like the extinguished light of hope.
“I wish someone would come and keep me company.”
Since graduating from college, the classmates he could still call friends went their separate ways, and they hardly kept in touch.
The work environment post-graduation wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.
The people he worked with weren’t truly friends; they were merely colleagues who nod at each other in passing.
Aside from the occasional team-building activity, there was practically no interaction.
Wait, maybe his introverted nature attributed to all this.
“Hmm…”
Night Starstorm found himself lost in thought.
Okay, the workplace is definitely not suited for him.
He can’t adapt, can’t fit in, and can’t even learn to settle for less.
Perhaps this is why he has been friendless since graduation.
It’s not without a reason that he’s been lonely since then.
Finding someone to play games with online might just be the greatest solace he has.
The internet really is a wonderful thing.
Currently, Night Starstorm lives a simple life.
Though it’s a bit lonely most days, at least he’s still managing to get by.
He adores ACG culture and spends his evenings watching anime after work. He is definitely a huge anime fan, not a “two-dimensional person”!
Day after day, he finds his life quite fulfilling.
If only he could quit his job and go home to slack off.
But quitting would mean no income.
If he just started slacking off, he could very well end up:
Living under a bridge, sniffling in a blanket, wiping away his tears only to fall asleep again, saying to everyone, “Yes, yes, yes.”
Basically, he wouldn’t be able to afford food.
He had also considered writing novels, but alas, talent was not on his side.
He’d given it a shot, but flat-out failed; even dogs would shake their heads at his work.
Editors advised him to take his talents elsewhere.
Total flop.
“Fine. I’ll just play some games, then shower and sleep. I want to be happy!”
Even without anyone to reply, Night Starstorm continued to talk to himself.
Perhaps expressing his thoughts would create a strangely comforting feeling in this empty room.
For instance, there could be peculiar things quietly listening to him ramble.
Like some unreliable ghosts.
But thinking about it carefully, that seemed impossible.
Sometimes Night Starstorm wished he could get a pet to talk to, someone to share his thoughts with.
But then he remembered he couldn’t even take care of himself, so adopting a pet could be a disaster for some little critter! Guess he’d better not.
“Hey, I really am a national-level protection waste.”
In the past, Night Starstorm might have thought being a waste was downright awful.
But now?
A waste is a waste; as long as he’s alive, that’s good enough!
Then, Night Starstorm sat at his computer desk and turned on his computer, mumbling.
“Seriously, tech is so advanced, and I’m still using this old relic. Classic me.”
Recently, he made a great online friend.
For a while now, they’ve been playing games together and having a blast.
However, they didn’t add each other on social media.
Night Starstorm felt too shy to bring it up, while his friend didn’t seem to mind, making every time he logged off a terribly bittersweet experience.
Maybe this is what love is? Probably.
In any case, Night Starstorm had never been in a relationship.
He looks decent enough; a little grooming, and he’s a handsome guy. But without taking the initiative, he’s never approached a girl.
Maybe it’s his love for ACG culture and the charms of the two-dimensional world that make him uninterested in three-dimensional girls.
“Whatever, let’s log on!”
As soon as Night Starstorm logged into his game, he spotted his online friend.
Their ID was “Is There Something Wrong with Just Wanting to Live?”
“Every time I log in, they’re online. Do they not have to work? Ugh, so envious!”
He grumbled and reached out to them.
“Wanna play some games?”
His friend quickly responded.
“Sure!”
Their exchanges were simple—no need for pleasantries.
They dove straight into the game, taking the opportunity to chat on the mic.
“By the way, are you a guy or a girl? Your voice has this ambiguous vibe, and it’s confusing!”
“Guess!”
“Teasing me again? What a weirdo!”
“Ha~ Anyway, we’re just gaming buddies; what’s the point in knowing that?”
“Good point.”
Meeting up in real life was out of the question; he didn’t want to get scammed into giving up a kidney and end up as a goner.
Night Starstorm was always cautious in that regard.
Boys must protect themselves when out and about!
After a bit of gaming, Night Starstorm said goodbye to “Is There Something Wrong with Just Wanting to Live?” before logging off.
“Let’s play together next time.”
“Sure.”
After two hours of gaming, Night Starstorm sat up and stretched, feeling a refreshing sense of relief.
He grabbed a change of clothes and headed to the bathroom. Ten minutes later, he emerged, the faint steam rising from him.
“Time for bed. Got work tomorrow. If I fall asleep and the boss catches me, I’ll lose my paycheck.”
Once he climbed into bed, he snuggled up under the covers.
“Ah…”
For some reason, he felt incredibly empty and fatigued at this moment.
“I wish life could be a bit easier than this.”
Maybe this was just a sudden flood of ridiculous thoughts.
“Transforming into a carefree little loli doesn’t sound too bad. But being targeted by weirdos to be trained into a plush toy would be a disaster! Gotta have some self-defense skills—being unbeatable in combat isn’t necessary; just run super fast when in danger.”
As for why he wanted to become a loli, maybe it was because they’re cute and easily pampered by rich women (not that he’s into that).
“Wait, what am I even thinking about?”
Snapping back to reality, Night Starstorm wore a bewildered expression, questioning his own sanity.
“Forget it, time for sleep.”
Withdrawing his neck under the covers, Night Starstorm suddenly felt a chill.
“If only I had a soft, warm pillow to hold.”
Muttering to himself, Night Starstorm’s consciousness gradually blurred, slipping into sleep.
A while later, a mysterious light suddenly began to glow from within the sheets, though it didn’t wake him.
Night Starstorm remained snugly tucked in bed, seemingly immersed in his sweet dreams.
…
Meanwhile, in a mysterious institution.
An energy sphere pulsating at the center radiated a dazzling light, shocking all nearby staff.
“What a large reaction! What’s going on this time?”
A middle-aged man swiftly reacted, operating a computer to retrieve the information captured by the anomaly detection sphere, turning it into written text on the computer screen.
“The vessel for the Supernova Class Star has awakened, named 【Wish Machine】. Usage conditions are unknown, location is unknown, and danger level is unknown. Please contain and secure it immediately.”
Reading this information, the middle-aged man’s pupils jolted, plunging him into a state of utter shock.
“Whoa… this is big!”
Something’s coming.
That night, key higher-ups in the institution gathered for a discussion meeting due to the emergence of this anomaly.
The meeting had been going for half an hour now.
“A Supernova Class Star; you all should know what that means. There was once an uncontrolled Supernova that caused unimaginable destruction, leading to irreversible losses. We must contain this before it goes wild.”
A middle-aged man with an air of leadership spoke, his serious expression revealing how vital this matter was.
At that moment, a younger man chimed in.
“Boss, we all know how serious this is, but the problem is we know nothing right now. The information from 【Know Star】 is just a bunch of gibberish. What are we supposed to do?”
The man named Wang Chao sat casually, appearing as if he were on a day out rather than involved in a critical discussion.
This attitude made the woman next to him visibly annoyed.
“Wang Chao, can you be a bit more serious? We’re discussing something very important here—stop talking nonsense!”
“Ah, right, right, right~”
“Hope you treat your life with the same attitude.”
“Ah, right, right, right~”
The woman was so annoyed but held back from exploding, knowing she wouldn’t change his carefree attitude.
“Hmph!”
She was aware of Wang Chao’s frolicking nature; nothing would make him serious.
Knock, knock, knock!
The man designated as the leader, Xiao Jin, rapped on the table, signaling everyone to quiet down.
“Get back and have all the branches in each city keep an eye out for any unusual activity. If anything looks off, investigate immediately.”
Wang Chao let out a sigh. “Is that going to help?”
“Better than doing nothing.”
“Fine.”
The meeting was adjourned.
All personnel returned to their posts to gear up for the situation at hand.
However, one person lingered—an ash-haired girl approached Xiao Jin.
“Uncle Xiao, can the Wish Machine… really make wishes come true?”
“Not sure.” Xiao Jin shook his head. “But it’s certain that trying to use it to fulfill any purpose could require an unbearable price, so it’s best not to overthink it.”
Bai Tu gradually zoned out, then snapped back to reality and nodded.
“Got it, Uncle.”
“Good.”
The two then parted ways.
On her way back, Bai Tu was lost in thought.
“A price, huh? Anything could happen…”
…
The next morning.
It was bright outside.
In a small room.
The alarm clock buzzed, waking the little one sleeping in bed.
“Mmm~ Ugh~ I don’t want to go to work…”
Night Starstorm let out a lament in a half-asleep state, vividly portraying a strong resistance against the hardships of being a corporate slave.
As his mind gradually cleared, Night Starstorm suddenly felt like there was something in his arms.
Soft, warm, and incredibly comfy.
“Huh?”
When he opened his eyes, he was greeted by an impossibly adorable loli face, with beautiful silver hair and a pair of wine-red eyes that sparkled like gems.
She wore a similarly confused expression, mirroring his feelings exactly.
Heart-stopping!
“Whoa, whoa, whoa—”
Who is this!?
Both figures rapidly shot out from beneath the covers, distancing themselves from each other in a flash.
“Wait, something’s off!”
After they scrambled away, Night Starstorm suddenly realized his voice was squeakier than usual.
“Ah?!”
Right after that, she sensed something unusual about her body, feeling as if she had shrunk considerably.
Then Night Starstorm rushed to the mirror to investigate, discovering a frightful sight.
The reflection showed a small, adorable loli, almost identical to the silver-haired one nearby.
The only difference? Her hair was black.
“Gone!!”
And just like that, her life effectively turned upside down upon becoming a loli.
