### Chapter 104: Let’s Play!
Life at home began to settle down after they returned. Xia Ling managed Xia Yu, while Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan were more than happy to let go and focus on their own stuff.
Right then, Xia Ling and Xia Yu were in the same room.
Unlike Xia Yu, who was quite relaxed, Xia Ling was rather busy.
Since she would soon be moving to the city with her parents to attend school, Xia Ling couldn’t wait to start packing. She could barely sit still for a second.
Meanwhile, Xia Yu sat quietly on the bed, watching Xia Ling, this sister of hers who always wanted to play the role of a big sister.
Halfway through packing, Xia Ling stared at the bulging suitcase and felt frustrated. She still had so much more to pack.
Ugh, this is annoying.
She glanced over at Xia Yu sitting quietly by her side, and her eyes lit up. She went over and hugged Xia Yu, whining cutely, “Little Sister, can I use your suitcase? Come on!”
Xia Yu: “…”
After a moment’s hesitation, Xia Yu slowly spoke, “I need space for my own clothes too.”
“You still have old clothes? Do you want me to tell Mom and Dad to get you new ones once we get there?”
As Xia Ling said that, she leaned her head on Xia Yu’s shoulder, acting as if they were the best of sisters.
For Xia Ling, Xia Yu no longer posed any threat to her. This only made Xia Yu more annoyed.
This pampering treatment was something the older brother, Xia Le, couldn’t enjoy—only Xia Yu’s turn now.
Faced with Xia Ling’s persistent demands, Xia Yu could only sigh and give in, “Alright, but I need two sets of clothes.”
“Works for me.”
So, Xia Yu took Xia Ling to her room and slid out a small suitcase from under the bed.
Indeed, the three siblings used to visit the city to stay with their parents. The only difference now was that they had to return for schooling.
She wiped off the dust and opened the suitcase, putting in her two favorite outfits, “All done.”
Then Xia Ling started stuffing even more things into Xia Yu’s suitcase until it was full. With a relieved sigh, she plopped back onto the bed and hugged Xia Yu, smiling, “My big sister is just as amazing as ever.”
Just then, Wang Wenjuan happened to walk into Xia Ling’s room and saw the whole scene.
Unexpectedly, she instantly stopped smiling and thought to herself. But she didn’t forget to give both Xia Yu and Xia Ling each a box of milk before leaving, “Sleep after you finish these, Little Yu and Xiao Ling.”
“Thanks, mommy.”
Seeing she’d have some milk to drink, Xia Ling happily grabbed her box and passed one to Xia Yu.
Her heart was full of joy.
Wang Wenjuan didn’t hurry away but sat at Xia Ling’s vanity desk and asked, “Xiao Ling, do you think it’s been bothering you having Xiao Yu live here with you? You’re getting older after all.”
Wang Wenjuan believed that Xia Ling must’ve been thinking about this too but was too shy to say anything.
When she heard the question, Xia Ling first looked surprised, then laughed and hugged Xia Yu tightly to reassure her mother, “Mom, do I really seem like I’m tired of my little sister?”
“What little sister?”
“Yeah, Second Brother already agreed to be my little sister!”
With that, Xia Ling rested her head comfortably on Xia Yu’s shoulder, trying to show her mom how close they were.
“Alright then, but Xiao Yu is a big boy. If there’s anything making it inconvenient for you, feel free to talk to me, okay? I’ll try to manage it all.”
Then Wang Wenjuan gently stroked Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s heads before leaving.
But internally, she started worrying about how to handle Xia Yu properly. With her back to Xia Ling, should she worry more about safety or keep them together?
Back with Xia Yu and Xia Ling, they still had no clue about their parents’ plans. For now, they were still sharing a room, imagining life in the city.
The next morning, Xia Yu woke up as usual.
Xia Ling snores were terrible; her hand was clamped around Xia Yu’s neck, making Xia Yu wonder how she had slept through it all…
Gently moving Xia Ling’s hand, Xia Yu tried to get up. Unlike Xia Yu, she wasn’t one for sleeping in. Better to watch TV.
Little did she know, Xia Ling also stirred awake.
“Hey, where are you going? We don’t have school, so why get up so early?”
“Just go back to sleep,” Xia Yu replied, gently dislodging Xia Ling’s hand and heading for the bathroom.
Surprisingly, Xia Ling followed, not wanting to miss out on anything.
“Mama said to look after you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here,” she complained, then sighed, “Being an older sister is tough.”
Xia Yu: “…”
True to her word, Xia Yu turned on the TV, which she usually couldn’t. Determined to watch, she got up early and sat on the sofa.
Xia Ling was equally responsible and followed Xia Yu everywhere, including watching TV with her this time.
This time, instead of fighting for the remote, Xia Ling sat beside Xia Yu and played on her phone.
And sure enough, Xia Ling fell asleep, using Xia Yu’s lap as a pillow.
Xia Yu: “…”
Seeing her sister sleeping soundly, Xia Yu felt bad waking her up and simply adjusted the TV volume down low.
Time ticked by. Eight o’clock came, and Wang Wenjuan descended to get ready for breakfast.
What she saw made her worried.
Xia Ling and Xia Yu lying cozily together; she thought it might be time to separate them.
“Xiao Ling, if you’re not tired, go back to your room. Sleeping on your second brother’s knee like that is odd.”
“What second brother? It’s my sister!”
Half-asleep, Xia Ling pouted and corrected her mother.
“Smack!”
“Mom! I’m already awake…”
Holding her sore bottom, Xia Ling complained at the sudden slap. She didn’t understand what was wrong with her mom today.
“Go back to your room. Tomorrow we’ll be moving. From tonight, Xia Yu doesn’t need to share a bed with you anymore.”
“Why? Can’t I sleep with my sister? What’s gotten into you, Mom?” Xia Ling challenged daringly.
Without hesitation, Wang Wenjuan flicked Xia Ling’s head hard, “You’re growing up. Xia Yu is a boy. And this is for your safety. Understand?”
Then she looked at Xia Yu, who nodded her agreement.
“Alright, no more discussion. That’s settled.”
Wang Wenjuan pinched Xia Ling’s cheek hard before leaving.
Xia Ling, holding her cheek, leaned against Xia Yu, “Why did you agree? This is annoying.”
Turning to Xia Ling, somehow, Xia Yu found herself reaching for her head, but Xia Ling quickly dodged and wrapped her arms around Xia Yu’s neck, pulling her closer.
“Little sister, bold as ever.”
Seemed like Xia Ling needed to vent—she didn’t hold back, running her hands through Xia Yu’s hair, messing it up completely.
“Xiao Yu, Xiao Yu are you home?”
A familiar voice echoed into the room, bringing with it someone most unexpected.
Jiang Kekai, the daughter of the Jiang family, had traveled over a thousand kilometers from Demon City just to see them.
She quickly pulled Zhao Wei inside, eager to find Xia Yu for a playdate.
Initially thinking she misunderstood, Xia Yu and Xia Ling ran to the balcony to check.
Below, who else but Jiang Kekai and Zhao Wei?
Noticing their attention, Jiang Kekai curiously looked up to see Xia Yu and Xia Ling staring at her.
“Xiao Yu, this is your house, right? Here I am, ready to play!”
Confident she was at the right place, Jiang Kekai dashed to the second floor, letting Zhao Wei explain to the confused grandparents.
However, given the grandparents only spoke dialect, explanations were lengthy…
