Chapter 108: Robbery
Toying with Xia Yu should have its limits, and Jiang Kekai was well aware of that limit. Thus, at this very moment, she gently placed Xia Yu in another seat to calm down, to not let her turn into a steaming hot robot girl.
Plucking her small bag, Jiang Kekai took out her phone and looked at Xia Yu, asking teasingly, “Xia Yu, do you play Penguins?”
“Sure.”
Although Xia Yu was still recovering from the earlier embarrassment, she responded immediately to Jiang Kekai’s question.
After all, as a modern young person, how could one skip playing Penguins?
“That’s great! What’s your Penguin number, Xia Yu? Let me add you!”
With that, Jiang Kekai shamelessly brought her phone closer to Xia Yu, making Xia Yu feel a bit awkward.
So, Xia Yu awkwardly moved aside a little, putting some distance between herself and this Young Lady, to not get too cozy.
Jiang Kekai noticed but didn’t say anything, thinking that Xia Yu would eventually get used to being close with girls given enough time.
In this way, Jiang Kekai successfully got Xia Yu’s Penguin ID and added her as a friend, which delighted her immensely.
Actually, besides the Penguin ID, Xia Yu’s phone number was also snatched by Jiang Kekai. As for Xia Yu, she truly had no idea what Jiang Kekai planned to do with those things.
After resting for an hour, they rose up and continued their shopping trip.
And just before restarting their adventure, Young Lady Jiang Kekai specially found a cart for Xia Yu and said with a smile, “Xia Yu, if you get tired, you can sit in there, and I’ll push you along.”
Xia Yu: “…”
Seeing Xia Yu’s odd expression, Jiang Kekai quickly changed her tune, “Oh, come on, I don’t mean to tease you. It’s rare for me to visit here, so if you crave anything, tell me, and I’ll buy it for you.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Although Xia Yu said these words, she was afraid to actually ask for something. She figured that if Little Ning Sister spent money on her, her own parents would surely be displeased, since Xia Yu loved getting small favors.
Interestingly, despite Xia Yu’s reluctance, Jiang Kekai still insisted on doing so, making Xia Yu feel incredibly helpless.
Understanding Xia Yu’s simple thoughts, Jiang Kekai knew better than to press her further about it. Instead, she filled the cart with snacks, whether cheap or pricey, without any hesitation.
In reality, Jiang Kekai wasn’t sure why she enjoyed doing stuff like this, but as long as Xia Yu seemed happy, she was happy too.
Finally, when the cart was packed, Jiang Kekai led Xia Yu to check out with her card payment. Super fancy.
“Little Ning Sister, how will we carry all of this?”
Indeed, looking at the fully-filled cart, Xia Yu felt a bit daunted, wondering if both she and Jiang Kekai could manage to carry everything.
But before she could finish her question, Jiang Kekai couldn’t help but pinch Xia Yu’s cheek and laughed, “Silly Xia Yu, if I bought all this, I obviously had my reasons.”
With that, Jiang Kekai waved in a direction, and four men in black clothes hurried over with a bow and asked, “Young Lady, anything you need?”
“Not much, just make sure these items reach Zhao Wei Sister’s car. No munching allowed, understood?”
Instantly, Jiang Kekai adopted the demeanor of a spoiled rich girl, issuing orders effortlessly.
At least, that’s how Xia Yu perceived it from her side.
“Yes, Young Lady,” they replied in unison.
“All right, Xia Yu, let’s go. We’ve got more fun to have before heading back.”
Jiang Kekai turned around and held Xia Yu’s hand, leading her outside without a care for the people they just left behind.
After all, Jiang Kekai knew they would handle everything perfectly.
On the way, Xia Yu, driven by curiosity, broke her silence, “Little Ning Sister, were those guys you know?”
“Yeah, they’re bodyguards sent by Father to protect me. They’ve been hiding nearby.”
“But weren’t they following us?”
Puzzled, Xia Yu looked back but saw no sign of the black-clad figures.
Noticing her actions, Jiang Kekai said with a laugh, “Xia Yu, you’re so cute. I already told you they’d been hiding. They’re highly trained professionals, so you couldn’t see them.”
“But…”
Before Xia Yu could ask more, a loud motorcycle approached them, its target clear: Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu.
Two men on the bike—one driving and the other holding a blade, ready for action.
Simultaneously, the bodyguards covertly moved to grab their firearms, prepared to take action if the young lady was in danger.
However, the driver showed no intention of hitting Jiang Kekai; instead, he passed beside her.
In that moment, the passenger on the backseat grabbed the strap of Jiang Kekai’s bag, slicing it with his blade.
“Clear out, let’s go!” yelled a companion.
The driver floored the gas, speeding away.
Usually, robbing a young girl like Jiang Kekai wouldn’t be worth it. But seeing Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu eating together and noticing cash in Jiang Kekai’s bag, the thieves got ideas.
One followed Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu while the other prepared the getaway vehicle.
Once Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu emerged, they acted.
The robbery went smoothly, but then they encountered the bodyguards stationed ahead.
The men didn’t budge despite honking and shouting.
Realizing they were in trouble, the driver twisted the throttle, roaring towards the roadblock.
His companion brandished a fruit kn*fe in threat.
They thought common heroes would flee, but these weren’t ordinary people—these were Jiang Kekai’s bodyguards.
If the bag was taken, they needed to provide answers or face losing their jobs.
The motorcycle lunged forward, only to find itself intercepted mid-air. One of the guards deftly sidestepped, grabbed the rider, and tossed him to the ground.
His buddy, thrown off the bike, rolled away and was subdued.
It all happened in seconds.
By the time Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu reacted, the men were immobilized.
A guard captain retrieved Jiang Kekai’s bag, the strap severed.
“I know how much was in my bag. Make sure they’re punished strictly,” Jiang Kekai said angrily at the guard captain.
“Yes, Young Lady. Have no worries,” the captain replied.
Still agitated, Jiang Kekai didn’t want to discuss adult matters, taking Xia Yu and leaving.
As Xia Yu came to her senses, she feared Jiang Kekai’s stern appearance. She endured the tight grip even though it hurt.
Seeing their bags damaged, Jiang Kekai lost interest in shopping. Grabbing Xia Yu, they headed for Zhao Wei’s car.
Zhao Wei, recovered from her nap, was enjoying the air conditioning, checking her phone.
Spotting Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu return, Zhao Wei promptly exited the car to open their doors.
Caring, she asked, “How did your outing go?”
Jiang Kekai, visibly upset, replied, “Terrible. We ran into two robbers.”
“What? Robbers?”
Alarmed, Zhao Wei checked Jiang Kekai for injuries, asking repeatedly, “Young Lady, are you hurt?”
