Chapter 110

Chapter 110: A Touch of Emotion

“Here Ya, have some more.”

You got that right, this is the voice of Miss Jiang Kekai. Halfway through their meal, she couldn’t help but start putting food on Xia Yu’s plate again.

Xia Wei couldn’t help but stare in surprise; this was the first time seeing Miss Jiang like this. Her heart fluttered—was this really the same Miss Jiang?

Ignoring the looks around them, Jiang kept on feeding Xia Yu, only wanting to see her eat.

Xia Ling couldn’t take it anymore and didn’t know why, but she felt this urge that Xia Yu might be taken away. It was so frustrating.

Thus, Xia Ling began piling food onto Xia Yu’s plate too…

Seeing this, Wang Wenjuan wanted to say something, but decided against it.

Maybe it was because Xia Yu had eaten too much for lunch and wasn’t hungry at all, so he took his sweet time eating his dinner and called it a night after ten minutes.

Jiang stopped eating once Xia Yu was done, and said to Zhao Wei, Xia Yu, and their family, “Xia Yu, we’re heading back now. Enjoy your meal.”

“Yeah, watch out on the way.”

True enough, Father Xia wasn’t going to hold Jiang any longer.

Forget about Jiang staying overnight here, if anything happened to her, things would get complicated. So Xia Hong didn’t want to deal with trouble at all.

Once Jiang left, Xia Yu finally sighed in relief and went upstairs to take a shower.

As for the dress and shoes and socks that Jiang bought for him, Xia Yu thought about throwing them away initially. But when he was about to, he felt a wave of regret—after all, they were brand new.

After some consideration, Xia Yu washed, dried, and stashed them away for later, figuring what to do with them later.

With nothing left to occupy his time, Xia Yu relaxed, grabbed a seat on the sofa, and started watching TV.

However, before long, Wang and Xia Ling came upstairs finishing their chores.

Seeing Xia Yu watching TV, Wang didn’t sit as usual but instead headed straight to Xia Yu’s room.

“Xia Yu, come with me. I’ve got some questions for you.”

Wang’s tone was serious. Hearing this, Xia Yu’s heart raced and he feared he’d been found out about the surgery or something else.

But there was no helping it; he stood up and walked towards the room when both mother and sister came in.

Lights turned on and Wang sat on Xia Yu’s bed. With a stern face, she asked, “Xia Yu, is there something you’re hiding from me?”

POUNCE!

Instantly, Xia Yu’s heartbeat rocketed. He silently wondered if his secret might be exposed.

He glanced at Xia Ling, remembering that only she knew the truth. If mother knew too, it was likely Xia Ling had told her.

Xia Ling also noticed Xia Yu looking at her. She shook her head, pretending she didn’t know anything. The truth was, she was genuinely clueless but was just following her curiosity.

Seeing Xia Yu blame herself, Wang held her silence and moved to the old wardrobe, pulling out a black bag.

Placing it on the desk, Wang opened it to reveal packages of sanitary pads right in front of Xia Yu and Xia Ling. “Explain, Xia Yu. What exactly are you using these for?”

Seeing those pads, Xia Yu realized lying wasn’t an option. Otherwise, he’d be dragged off to the hospital, exposing his secrets.

He racked his brain but came up with nothing. Anxiety made sweat bead on his forehead as he tried to hide his fear.

Before Xia Yu could reply, Xia Ling stepped in: “Mom, these are actually from my room, I forgot them, and put them in brother’s.”

Looking at Xia Ling, Wang’s eyes softened: “Do you think I’m that easy to fool? Is that true?”

“They are, I swear! They’re from brother’s closet.”

Realizing she was caught, Xia Ling broke into a nervous sweat.

“Do you really remember putting it in the wardrobe?”

“What else could it be then? I found them under Xia Yu’s bed when cleaning up.”

Xia Ling was baffled, clearly knowing she was caught in a web of lies.

The truth was, Wang already knew these pads belonged to Xia Ling, given they were a gift.

“These are meant for girls only. Next time, try not to be so nosy, okay?” warned Wang.

Realizing he was off the hook, Xia Yu mumbled, “Okay.”

Then Wang turned to Xia Ling with the black bag: “These are yours—keep it safe. We’ll be leaving for Peng City soon tonight. Make sure you’ve packed everything. No time for delays.”

Wang headed toward the door.

Suddenly, she stopped and addressed Xia Yu and Xia Ling seriously. “Xia Yu’s health has improved significantly, so you two won’t be sharing beds starting tonight.”

“Why not? I want to sleep with my sister!”

Xia Ling wrapped her arms around Xia Yu’s, trying to make herself look like a protective sister.

Wang didn’t buy it: “You think calling her ‘sister’ makes her one? It’s for your own good.”

Wang walked out with no further argument; the matter was settled.

Xia Ling looked disappointed. She wasn’t used to sleeping alone.

In response, Xia Ling thought up a plan with Xia Yu.

She suggested mischievously, “How about you go to sister after mom goes to sleep?”

Xia Yu’s response: “No, too much trouble.”

Xia Ling looked heartbroken: “Sis doesn’t love me… Sis is sad!”

Despite her efforts, Xia Yu remained indifferent.

Seeing no other choice, Xia Ling dropped it and let Xia Yu’s arm go.

Then she spotted a stash of snacks. Eyes glittering, she begged: “Can sis have some?”

“No need, take whatever you want.”

Grinning, Xia Ling leaned in, kissing Xia Yu’s cheek: “From now on, sis will take care of your ‘needs.’ No worries of being caught.”
