### Chapter 120: The Ruthless One
This time, the kidnappers were pros. They had planned their escape route meticulously before the kidnapping, avoiding all surveillance and picking little-known shortcuts. So, after leaving the scene, the three small cars started weaving around like maniacs, then zipped into an old, crumbling village where narrow, twisty streets made interception by the law enforcement team nearly impossible.
Even setting up cameras to track them took time for the law enforcement team, especially since the kidnappers’ vehicles kept barreling forward at full speed. Through the rearview mirror, the ringleader spotted Zhao Wei and Xia Hong hot on their tail.
He smirked confidently, grabbed his pistol, and aimed right through the mirror. Bang! Bang! Bang!
Zhao Wei’s car was bulletproof; her windows weren’t going down anytime soon. But Xia Hong’s car wasn’t so lucky. One of its tires exploded, forcing him to pull over with a frustrated “Ugh!”
Once they stopped, Xia Hong slammed the steering wheel in frustration.
Looking back, he saw that Zhao Wei’s car was still chasing them. At this point, he could only hope the law enforcement and the Jiang family would catch these guys soon.
Seeing her bullets didn’t faze Zhao Wei, the boss wasn’t flustered. He picked up a walkie-talkie from under the seat, wearing his shades. “Mouse Leader, Cat Warden—take care of that crazy woman. She’s spoiling our party. We’ll rendezvous later, as usual.”
“Rendezvous later.”
“Absolutely, see you there.”
Then two of the cars peeled out, fishtailing with smoky trails, and sped straight towards Zhao Wei’s car. Boom!
Inside Xia Yu’s car, she squeezed her eyes shut in fear, unsure who got hit in the crash.
Xia Yu was clearly freaked out, but Jiang Kekai stayed relatively calm. She patted Xia Yu’s shoulder reassuringly. “It’s okay, don’t be scared.”
Sure, they were kidnapped, but no ropes bound Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai. They just had a g*n pointed at them. When she finished reassuring Xia Yu, Jiang Kekai turned to the ringleader in the passenger seat and demanded, “What do you want?”
“Nothing much. You’ll see when the time comes,” the leader responded cryptically.
Suddenly, the boss turned to Xia Yu. “Playing with Miss Jiang must say something about your background. Tell me who you are.” Xia Yu replied honestly, “I’m Xiao Yu from the countryside. I have no background.”
Aware that Xia Yu struggled with socializing, Jiang Kekai answered for her. Better to avoid upsetting these guys. “Countryside?”
The boss was surprised. Xia Yu looked plain enough—he began to believe Jiang Kekai. In kidnapper terms, a noble background meant being treated like a little princess, not someone decked out in knock-off brands.
When the boss fell silent, Jiang Kekai found her courage and said, “Alright, if you’ve got the wrong person, let her go. I’ll go wherever you need. I promise I won’t resist.”
True grit; Jiang Kekai would do anything to keep Xia Yu safe. Normally, she wouldn’t give a second thought to kidnappers.
But the boss wasn’t moved by her plea. “Miss Jiang, save your breath. I’m fine having another hostage.” Jiang Kekai sighed deeply.
Since her offer was turned down, Jiang Kekai settled for holding Xia Yu for comfort. Honestly, she had no idea if it would help at all, but it felt good.
Suddenly, the driver yanked the wheel hard. The car spun into an even darker, abandoned alleyway.
Meanwhile, Zhao Wei’s custom car had been taking on the kidnappers, collision after collision, yet somehow breaking free every time. Her car, though slightly dented, was structurally sound. Not the case with the kidnappers’ vehicles, which were totaled.
At this point, the kidnappers knew they were in a tight spot. Zhao Wei’s car was too sturdy; her shots couldn’t break through.
They tried to replicate their original kidnapping method, but now outnumbered and outgunned. This left them vulnerable—especially since Zhao Wei could easily get up to speed again.
Just as they debated their next move, ten black armored vehicles charged from behind. The lead vehicle aimed directly at the kidnappers’ unmarked cars. Boom!
In seconds, the cars crashed into a building. “Hey, brothers, let’s do this!”
Inside, the kidnappers jumped out, arming themselves and rushing the armored vehicles. At the same time, those vehicles opened fire.
These guys weren’t worried about Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu—they already knew to avoid the car with the Jiang family ‘princess.’
With gunfire erupted, seconds later, the kidnappers paid the ultimate price.
Zhao Wei stepped out of her car, breathing heavily from the intense confrontation.
“Use the phone and necklace tracker. We’re chasing,” she said, handing a phone to the group leader—a veteran bodyguard known as Big Cheng.
Big Cheng nodded, acknowledging the trust; Zhao Wei often partnered with these guys. Now he led the charge toward saving the ‘princess.’
Thus, ten armored vehicles set off in grand style.
The boss had a Bluetooth, too, ensuring he stayed in communication with his team. Hearing the gunshots through the earpiece, he knew some of his buddies had probably bit the dust.
He gritted his teeth, suppressing rage. “Turn left. Rendezvous at Linglang Barber Shop. That’s the meet-up point with the Lin family. Screw them.”
The driver immediately took the turn and widened the street. More traffic meant he had to honk aggressively to clear the path.
Another drift, sudden brake, and the car stopped at a seemingly deserted shop. The door was locked, and no lights inside. This eerie quiet gave the boss bad vibes.
No sooner did he knock and find no one inside, he heard distant helicopter sounds. The boss panicked. Just then, five armored vehicles swooped in from behind, followed by others blocking the way.
In short—trap!
“Men, get ready!”
The boss stepped out with guns blazing, dragging Jiang Kekai out while another forced Xia Yu out too. Now three kidnappers remained—driver, boss, and another thug with Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai.
The boss had no fear of snipers—they’d just arrived and needed time to position. So he took a gamble, betting they could strike a deal within minutes. He shouted toward the approaching helicopter, “Jiang Bin, I’ve been betrayed by the Lins. Give me the chopper, and I won’t touch your daughter. Else… well, here’s a taste of what awaits her.”
Without warning, he shot Xia Yu in the stomach. Nothing instills fear like a hostage shot.
Showing Jiang Bin the damage, he proved he was a ruthless man. Best to play smart and cooperate.
