Chapter 121

Chapter 121: A Splash Unsettled, Another One Erupts

This scene came out of nowhere. Not only did Xia Yu, the victim, fail to react, but even Jiang Bin, Jiang Kekai, and all the bodyguards of the Jiang Family were caught off guard.

They never expected the kidnapper to be so ruthless—shooting without a hint of fear about the consequences!

By the time Xia Yu snapped back to reality, the b*llet had already buried itself in her body.

Looking down at her bl**d-soaked clothes, a strong wave of dizziness hit her, and then a deep fatigue enveloped her, the wound burning like fire.

Am I going to d*e? Finally free of being a burden? This was Xia Yu’s pessimistic train of thought at that moment.

Having lost her strength to stand, the kidnapper who had been pressing her with a g*n let go, letting her collapse onto the floor, right into the pool of her own bl**d.

“Little Yu!”

Perhaps it was the heartbreak that triggered something in Jiang Kekai. As she regained her composure, fear of the kidnappers was nowhere to be found; she began to struggle violently, nearly causing the kidnapper holding her to lose his grip.

“Miss Jiang, calm down, or my b*llet won’t know mercy!”

The kidnapper angrily pressed the cold g*n against Jiang Kekai’s forehead, hoping to scare her into submission. Despite his bravado, he genuinely hesitated to pull the trigger since Jiang Kekai was his most important and last hostage. If he lost her, he had no doubt the Jiang Family would turn him into Swiss cheese.

Having chosen this line of work, the kidnapper must have had a certain understanding of life and d*ath; otherwise, he wouldn’t have gotten into such a dangerous business. But that didn’t mean he wanted to d*e with his dignity in shambles!

In the end, one of the kidnapper’s hands slipped off Jiang Kekai. Before long, she broke free with a burst of strength and rushed to Xia Yu’s side.

“Little Yu, wake up! Big sister’s here; you can’t be hurt!”

No matter how much Jiang Kekai called out, the little one lying in the pool of bl**d didn’t stir, the silence chilling.

Gradually, panic turned to tears for Jiang Kekai, a young lady who normally faced adversity without a hitch. Today, however, she found herself weeping loudly over Xia Yu, a non-relative, her sorrow genuinely profound.

Seeing Jiang Kekai not run away brought a sigh of relief to the kidnapper. With a smug look, he turned to Jiang Bin: “Have you made your decision? Otherwise, your daughter will end up like this!”

“Wait! You said you were deceived by the Lin family, the fifth-ranked one in Peng City, right? Who tricked you? Can we talk to them?” “Quit stalling! Don’t think I don’t know your sharpshooter is on the move. Get me a helicopter, or your daughter’s toast, and it’ll be on you!”

“Fine, fine. If you want a helicopter, you can have one. Now let go of my daughter!”

Jiang Bin was genuinely becoming afraid of this unpredictable kidnapper. I mean, it’s just a helicopter, right? This is something he could manage.

Once he got what he wanted, the kidnapper sidled up to a dazed Jiang Kekai and grabbed her: “Now clear the way for me, hurry!”

The Jiang family’s bodyguards exchanged looks, and with a gesture from Jiang Bin, they reluctantly complied.

With the kidnapper leading the way, the driver and another henchman kept watch over their surroundings to guard against surprise attacks.

Because of this, they left Xia Yu behind in her bl**d, allowing Jiang’s people to get to her first and whisk her away to the hospital for emergency treatment. Meanwhile, the kidnapped Jiang Kekai seemed to have an epiphany, her previously dazed eyes suddenly filled with determination.

Out of nowhere, Jiang Kekai sprang into action, swiftly dodging the kidnapper’s g*n and catching him off guard as he was distracted by the surroundings.

She backed up against the kidnapper and then, surprisingly, her petite body unleashed a surprising strength, yanking the g*n-wielding arm of the kidnapper and throwing him over her shoulder.

That’s right! As the young lady of the Jiang family, Jiang Kekai wasn’t just a pretty face; she shared her father’s love for martial arts and had achieved quite a bit in combat, though she didn’t often show it.

If it weren’t for the fact that these three men were armed with firearms—super dangerous stuff—she wouldn’t be scared at all. One against three? Piece of cake! Otherwise, she’d never say that if she and Xia Yu attended school together, they wouldn’t get bullied.

In school, she believed she could protect Xia Yu from any harm; only she could bully her—bam, bam, bam!!!

The Jiang family’s bodyguards reacted quickly, ruthlessly attacking. In an instant, the kidnapper’s driver and henchman turned into a sieve. The kidnapper, too, didn’t escape, as the squad’s best shot, Old Cheng, took him down with a b*llet to the head. “Daughter, are you okay?!”

Once things settled, Jiang Kekai’s mother, Zhang Yunzhi, couldn’t help but rush over to examine her daughter, breathing a sigh of relief when she noticed there weren’t any gunshot wounds. Jiang Bin dialed a number: “Old Chen, everything’s settled here. Can you send your enforcement team?”

“Understood, thanks! How about we grab a meal together sometime? My treat.”

Jiang Bin glanced at his daughter and sighed: “Maybe another time. Xia Yu got shot; I have a lot to deal with.” “Alright, you take care of that.”

“Mm.”

After hanging up, Jiang Bin patted Jiang Kekai on the shoulder: “C’mon, since you’re worried about your friend, let’s go to the hospital now.” “Mm.”

Jiang Kekai was on the same page, and since her father mentioned it, she had no reason to refuse. In no time, Jiang Bin, Zhang Yunzhi, and Jiang Kekai boarded the helicopter.

Up in the sky, they saw the armored vehicle transporting Xia Yu to the hospital stuck in traffic. No matter how skillful the driver was, they couldn’t speed away.

Without hesitation, Jiang Kekai ordered the helicopter pilot: “Descend! Get Xia Yu to the hospital faster!”

A young lady’s words carried weight; the pilot immediately began to land near the armored vehicle and contacted Jiang’s bodyguards inside to prepare to stop.

The plan went smoothly, and Xia Yu was probably unaware that her first ride in a helicopter turned out like this. Too bad, though—she was unconscious and couldn’t enjoy the beautiful views!

At that moment, the networking came into play. Before the helicopter even reached the hospital rooftop, many authoritative doctors were already there, ready to receive her. Once the helicopter landed, Xia Yu was rushed straight to surgery; otherwise, she was at serious risk of dying from bl**d loss.

Meanwhile, Jiang Bin began calling Wang Wenjuan and Xia Hong, asking where they were and arranging for cars to come get them. He didn’t divulge the specifics; he didn’t dare offer comfort, as Xia Yu was still in surgery, and her condition was still uncertain.

So, Jiang Bin had no choice but to avoid making any guarantees.

As for Jiang Kekai, she stayed with Xia Yu until she was wheeled into the operating room, settling outside to wait.

Outside was eerily quiet, but unbeknownst to them, chaos was unfolding inside the operating room. The b*llet had just been removed from Xia Yu’s body when four men in black masks burst through the back door.

“Who are you…”

Before the doctor finished his question, one man raced forward and knocked him out cold, and the others followed suit, swiftly taking down the remaining doctors. After sizing up the unconscious Xia Yu on the operating table, the leader of the group asked his companion, “Is she really a young lady from the Jiang family? She doesn’t look quite like her photo.”

No surprise, considering Xia Yu was now decked out in a surgical gown and cap, only her pale face visible.

It’s no wonder they thought she looked off; she wasn’t the real deal!

But one of the masked men said, “There’s no mistake. She was sent here by the Jiang family’s helicopter. Only Jiang Kekai would get such treatment.”

“Then let’s hurry this up and not get caught!”

One man began wrapping up Xia Yu’s surgical wounds with nearby bandages. After that, they lifted her onto a stretcher and headed out the back door.

Everything went smoothly as they took the elevator to the parking lot. The four men loaded Xia Yu into the trunk and drove off.

The man in the passenger seat peeled off his mask and put on headphones: “Boss, we’ve smoothly extracted Jiang Kekai already.” “Good. Drive directly to the Star Hotel. I’ll be waiting for you there.”

“Understood.”

At that moment, at the Star Hotel, Lin Hai, General Manager of the Lin Corporation, hung up the phone, excitement coursing through him, before making another call. Outside the surgical room, Jiang Bin and Xia Hong’s group anxiously awaited news of Xia Yu’s surgery.

Out of the blue, Jiang Bin received a call.

Seeing the caller ID, he would have typically ignored it, but with the recent kidnapping fresh in his mind, he answered. “Jiang Bin, guess who this is?”

“Lin Hai, what do you want?”

Years back, Lin Hai sought Jiang Bin’s investment for a project during a low phase, believing that securing Jiang Bin’s backing would be a surefire way to success.

However… Jiang Bin had coldly turned him down. Eventually, Lin Hai got so frustrated he wasn’t even allowed to see Jiang Bin anymore, perpetually blocked by the company’s security. And so, he missed out on the investment, the project funds running dry, leading to its failure.
