Chapter 122

### Chapter 122: Accepting Fault

Lin Hai couldn’t wrap his head around things, so he blamed everything on Jiang Bin. If not for Jiang Bin’s reluctance to invest, his project wouldn’t have gone bad. Now, his Lin Corporation probably wouldn’t be second in Peng City.

“Jiang Bin, your eldest daughter, Jiang Kekai, is in my hands now. I want 51% of the shares in your Jiang Corporation; otherwise, you won’t ever see your daughter again.”

Hearing this, Jiang Bin couldn’t help but glance at Jiang Kekai sitting sorrowfully beside him and then muttered under his breath, “Are you out of your mind?” Then he sighed, “Fine, Jiang Bin, hope you don’t regret it.”

With that, Lin Hai angrily hung up the phone.

Someone came to report that Jiang Kekai had been brought over, making Lin Hai eager to get a look at her now weak form. So, without hesitating, he followed his men to the parking lot.

As expected, even here, the guys didn’t have plans to let Xia Yu out of the trunk. If they were seen and the law enforcers contacted, it could get ugly. Besides, keeping Xia Yu in the trunk was safe enough; if they needed to make a quick getaway, they could just drive off.

When they got to the parking lot, Lin Hai ordered them to open the trunk. He wasn’t about to do the work himself; why waste effort when he had people for that?

As the trunk popped open, Lin Hai saw Xia Yu lying there weakly. bl**d-soaked bandages from an apparently botched surgery clung to her wounds.

Seeing her face, Lin Hai couldn’t help but frown. Something felt off, a bad premonition.

Sure enough, as he removed the surgical cap, he realized this wasn’t Jiang Kekai at all. That’s when he understood why Zhao Bin wasn’t worried. They hadn’t captured his daughter after all. And, oh boy, he had exposed himself.

One of the men, oblivious to the truth, cheerfully claimed credit: “Boss, we really nailed it, right? The money—”

Without letting him finish, Lin Hai slapped him hard across the face. “What kind of money? We caught the wrong person, and you’re asking for a reward?”

The man glanced at Xia Yu, who he had noticed seemed different all along. “What? We caught the wrong person?”

No longer able to contain his frustration, Lin Hai slapped the man again. “Right, now go toss them away somewhere no one’ll find them. And forget the car; it’s likely been marked. Just walk back.”

Meanwhile, a groggy surgeon woke up and noticed Xia Yu was missing from the operating table, prompting a flurry of anxiety and guilt.

Reluctantly facing reality, she opened the door filled with remorse, only to find Jiang Bin and Xia Hong waiting outside.

Jiang Kekai’s heart raced as she asked, “How’s Little Yu?” The surgeon replied, “She… she was taken by force during mid-surgery.”

The tension escalated as the two men tried to piece together what happened. Amidst their frustration, the only hope was unraveling the situation and rescuing Xia Yu.

Wang Wenjuan sat white-faced, trying to process the unfolding nightmare, Xia Ling comforting her beside.

The men driving, still seeking a place without cameras, encountered yet another mishap. At a busy intersection, a truck piled with sand barreled through red lights and swerved to avoid a small car. It flipped, crushing the car beneath it.

Amidst chaos, the truck driver blamed brake failure while the law enforcers found the crushed car—Sarge Chen’s target—a match with their records.

This development sent dark thoughts spiraling among the characters, particularly Jiang Bin and Xia Hong, fearing Xia Yu’s fate.

In the midst of rescue efforts, another shocking scene unfolded: Xia Yu’s ambulance navigated miraculously through green lights, only to be struck by a runaway truck loaded with steel wheels. She somehow survived, but the four men in the truck didn’t.

And so began more twists and turns filled with danger, deception, and desperate hopes.
