### Chapter 29: “Mascot”
Night Watcher Base.
All the Night Watchers who fainted in the entertainment area have been transported back to the base for treatment.
After examinations, it turns out these Night Watchers are in pretty bad shape—but thankfully, they’re not knocking on d*ath’s door.
Still, the outlook isn’t exactly rosy.
With the stars gone, these Night Watchers have been trampled by two rampaging Star Eclipses—if they’re not fully mentally broken, that’s the best outcome imaginable.
Given the current state of affairs, getting them to wake up likely requires a long, quiet recovery.
However, here’s the kicker—these Night Watchers are the backbone of Yun Chang City, and two of them are even Sunlight Night Watchers.
Now that the pillars have lost their fighting capabilities, they’ve got no choice but to borrow a couple of folks from other cities to toss into the fray.
Oh no, it’s not as simple as borrowing a couple of folks.
With two Supernova Star Eclipses showing up in Yun Chang City, they need to borrow a bit more top-tier firepower. Ideally, they should dispatch the Sunlight Night Watchers from other cities, or else this city is doomed to collapse.
As it stands, out of the three Sunlight Night Watchers currently in Yun Chang City, only one is still standing.
In the command room.
Mo Tu walks over to a device and logs in with his identity account.
Soon, the screen flashes a new interface displaying updates on each Star Eclipse.
One branch, in particular, is about the “Tragic Shadow Theater.”
“Ha~”
Mo Tu smiles as he clicks on that branch, and a ton of information pops up.
Details about the Group Leader, Gentleman, and Fraudster come into view.
Then, he updates the Star Eclipse information for the Group Leader, saving the current effects displayed.
After finishing that, he clicks “Add Member” to begin editing the information for new members of the Tragic Shadow Theater.
Since the Puppet Master already has recorded info, he just adds her in.
[Member of Tragic Shadow Theater: Puppet Master, recorded Star Eclipse information available. Due to unknown reasons, has joined the Tragic Shadow Theater, but her status has changed. As long as she doesn’t attack “Audience Performer,” her Star Eclipse state won’t exceed Supernova level, with a very low normal danger level.]
Based on Mo Tu’s understanding, that’s pretty much the gist. Just a little checkmark and we’re good to go.
Next, he starts editing the next one.
[Member of Tragic Shadow Theater: Audience Performer, identified as a silver-haired girl with a single ponytail. Specific details unknown, but experts speculate she might be a pillars of the group, holding an extremely important position. Warm reminder: If the Tragic Shadow Theater mobilizes as a group, absolutely do not attack until the other members are dealt with, or it may result in our complete annihilation.]
Mo Tu strokes his chin, looking at the information he just typed, talking to himself.
“This should be fine, right?”
To keep Night Star from becoming an easy target for the Night Watchers, Mo Tu intentionally wrote it that way—after all, that little Loli is just a frail little mascot!
Suddenly, an idea strikes him, and he adds a parenthesis after the codename Audience Performer.
Inside the parentheses are the words “Mascot.”
“Perfect!”
The result should look something like this:
[Member of Tragic Shadow Theater: Audience Performer (Mascot).]
That should give the other group members a little brainstorming nudge.
After finishing that, there’s still one more member to add.
But Mo Tu stops, hesitating to type.
He’s deep in thought, contemplating.
After a long while, he finally types out a line on the screen.
[Member of Tragic Shadow Theater: Star Eclipse Name: Existence Interference, Supernova Star Eclipse, specific effects unknown. Has a beautiful singing voice and a record of eliminating the stars of all Night Watchers. Codename…]
“Singer.”
Meanwhile.
Rising Sun Theater.
The girl with milky white hair singing on stage seems to sense something, slightly turning her head in a certain direction.
As the saying goes, knowledge is power.
It’s one of her Star Eclipse traits.
She can sense when someone mentions her, from some unfamiliar direction.
Who is it?
…
That night.
Night Star returns to the Fish Playing House from the theater, feeling a bit tired both physically and mentally.
Night Lan has arrived home earlier and darts out to find Night Star for a hug.
Today’s injuries were truly frightening, so a little emotional healing is definitely warranted.
Once Night Star hugs the petite little body of Night Lan, both her body and mood lighten significantly.
Very nice~
The two Lolis step into the little house.
Just as they enter, a semi-transparent ghost leaps up excitedly and hugs Night Star.
“Night Star, welcome back~”
“Uh? I’ve been back for ages.”
“Even though I know Night Lan and Night Star are the same person, Eypar wants to welcome you too!”
Eypar’s silly little hair flops around, looking quite delighted.
Night Star quietly sighs.
“Do as you wish.”
“Ehehe~”
Eypar follows behind the two Lolis, curiously asking, “What was the result of today’s performance?”
“Um, it was terrible; things almost took a turn for the worse.”
Thinking about how the Rising Sun Theater almost led to the annihilation of the participating Night Watchers makes Night Star feel guilty, as if it’s all her fault.
Could it be she’s developing a sense of belonging to the Rising Sun Theater?
How terrifying.
At that moment, Night Star glances toward where Little Lian was placed earlier, noticing she’s still in her original position—was she waiting for her return?
Turns out Lianhua can summon Little Lian whenever she wants. What’s the point of leaving her here?
Can’t wrap her head around it.
Night Star takes her gaze away, getting ready to undress with Night Lan and head to the bathroom for a wash.
The pain from today’s injuries has made the both of them sweat buckets, so they need to wash up before hitting the hay.
“Eypar, you absolutely cannot come in.”
“Okay.” Eypar’s silly hair droops down, looking very disappointed.
After warning Eypar not to enter the bathroom, Night Star and Night Lan, the two Lolis, grab their change of clothes and head into the bathroom.
After a while, the two finish washing each other’s hair and bodies, rinsing off the suds, and step into the bathtub together.
Splash—
Water ripples in waves.
A significant volume of warm water spills over the edge of the bathtub, splashing on the floor with a series of pleasing sounds.
In the bathtub.
Night Star lies in Night Lan’s embrace, pressing her body into Night Lan’s soft and smooth chest, slowly relaxing.
She starts to daydream.
From Night Lan, she learned that the Singer seems to be a dangerous Supernova Star Eclipse, posing a major threat to the entire city.
It’s called [Existence Interference], right?
Sounds powerful; she wonders how it compares to Lianhua’s abilities.
“Hmm…”
Lost in thought, Night Star sinks below the water surface, feeling the warm water squeezing in from all sides. Moments later, she breaks through the surface.
“All done. Anything can wait until tomorrow. Tonight, I’m going to get a good night’s sleep.”
The two dry off, put on their pajamas, and step out of the bathroom, only to find the obedient ghost sitting on the floor.
Night Star stares at her in disbelief.
“What are you doing?”
“Waiting for Night Star~ I swear I wasn’t peeking this time!”
“Um… fine then.”
At this point, Night Star Lan has really run out of things to say to this silly ghost girl.
All she wants is to get back to bed with Night Lan and catch some serious z’s.
That’s the only way to soothe her weary mind and body.
