Chapter 127: The Arrogant Xiao Ling

Xia Ling got a call. She checked the contact—yep, it was indeed her mother Wang Wenjuan. “Hello, Mom, what’s up?”
“Xiao Ling, do you have any food you want to eat? Your father and I will bring over some packed meals.”
Through the phone came Wang Wenjuan’s voice, with car horns in the background, clearly indicating she was on the move.
But before Xia Ling could respond, Jiang Kekai snatched the phone, quick as lightning. “Auntie, you don’t need to worry about Little Yu’s meal; I ordered a special nutrition meal for Little Yu.”
“Is that you, Xiao Ning? That’s too much trouble!”
“Oh, no trouble at all! Actually, I have something else to ask Auntie. Just say yes to the both of you; I’ve got it under control.” “What is it?”
“Don’t rush, we can talk more when you get here.” “Alright.”
After hearing Wang Wenjuan’s response, Jiang Kekai happily handed the phone back to Xia Jing, who had been glaring at her. “There you go, stop glaring, Sister, I won’t steal your phone.”
“Phht, there’s no way you’re living in my house.”
“Nope, that’s not up to you.”

Ignoring Jiang Kekai, Xia Ling stepped outside to talk to her mom and mentioned what she wanted to eat. But right then, Xia Yu finally woke up after sleeping for hours. She blinked her eyes bleary and sore, feeling something stuck in them.
Jiang Kekai, who had been aimlessly checking her phone by Xia Yu’s bedside, saw Xia Yu wake up and immediately perked up. “How’s it going, Little Yu? Still dizzy?”
Surprised by Jiang Kekai’s concern but recovering quickly, Xia Yu replied, “Not anymore, just… really hungry.”
Indeed, Xia Yu was starving. She hadn’t had dinner last night and had undergone surgery which left her drained and weak. The congee served for breakfast simply wasn’t cutting it.
Hearing Xia Yu’s request, Jiang Kekai smiled, delighted, “Little Yu, hang on, I’ll have a delicious meal brought here immediately. It won’t take long.”
She tapped a few buttons on her phone, then smilingly changed the topic, “Hey, Little Yu, can sister ask you for a favor? Please, just this once?”
“What is it?”
Though Xia Yu wasn’t sure what Jiang Kekai could be asking, she figured she’d help if she could. “Come on, Little Yu, it’s nothing big.”
Jiang Kekai seized Xia Yu’s hand as if she were playing with a plush toy. “Nope, don’t agree to anything she says; she just wants to live with us.”
Xia Ling returned from her call just in time, cutting Jiang Kekai off sharply.
Jiang Kekai glared at Xia Ling, who had ruined her plan. Then turning back to Xia Yu with determination, “Yes, after Little Yu gets out of here, she can stay at YOUR place for a while. How about it?”
“But Xiao Ning, aren’t you still in school…?”
“Not anymore! You’ve no idea how great I am at studies, outscoring most teachers.”
Realizing something, Jiang Kekai excitedly said, “Ah, I can tutor you at home, free of charge!”
Xia Yu: “…”
Xia Ling: “…”
Seeing Jiang Kekai’s hopeful look, Xia Yu, feeling bad letting her down, hesitantly agreed, “Xiao Ning, ask my parents first, if they’re okay, so am I.”
“It’ll work out. They’ll agree.”
Having absolute confidence in her plan, Jiang Kekai ordered a nutrition meal for Xia Yu. Not from the hospital canteen, but from an upscale hotel in Peng City run by her family. The chef himself prepared the meal, personally escorting it in his car.
The manager, understanding their mission, brought an extra foldable table to accommodate the dishes since there was no space in the hospital room. As he skillfully arranged the luxurious dishes, Xia Yu noticed an abundance of bl**d-tonic cuisine.
Finished setting everything up, Jiang Kekai unapologetically told the staff, “Alright, you can go now.” No one dared upset her, so they left in silence.
Xia Ling observed silently, realizing Jiang Kekai was impressively effective when she decided to be—d*mn, it’s all about the money.
Respecting Xia Yu’s condition, Jiang Kekai asked, “So, what would you like to eat, Little Yu? Sister will feed you.”
Embarrassed, Xia Yu shyly said, “Xiao Ning, can I sit up?” Checking a moment ago, the doctor had said Xia Yu could sit, so Jiang Kekai gently lifted her into position.
As expected, Xia Yu winced in pain as she struggled into sitting. Jiang Kekai, having learned this from videos, helped her manage the discomfort better.
Seeing Xia Yu’s preference for sweet and sour spareribs, Jiang Kekai eagerly fed her. Xia Yu gradually became used to having her food handled by Jiang Kekai, evolving from resistance to acceptance.
However, this didn’t change the fact that Xia Yu couldn’t be Xia Yu anymore. For Xia Ling, Jiang Kekai was just a friend. Xia Ling’s focus was mainly on the food, believing someone else already took care of Xia Yu.
Noticing Xia Ling’s hungry gaze, Xia Ling politely inquired if she could join in. Jiang Kekai agreed without hesitation, emphasizing she wouldn’t let the food go to waste.
Seeing Xia Ling’s prideful stance, Jiang Kekai playfully helped Xia Yu, “Fine, don’t be like that. Eat for your sister, you can trust me.”
Xia Ling relented, but warned, “I’m only eating because Little Yu asked, I still don’t want these things.”
Jiang Kekai laughed, “Eat up! Or it’ll get cold.”
True to Jiang Kekai’s guess, seeing Xia Ling start eating lightened Xia Yu’s mood. The three of them continued their lunch together as Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan entered with fast food.
“Uncle, Auntie, you’re here! Can we all sit and eat? I have something to ask you.”
Jiang Kekai’s cheerful greeting caught Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan’s attention.
“Sure, why not? Sit down, let’s discuss over food. Actually, it’s not much, but would it be possible for Xia Yu to stay with us for a bit after she recovers? I could be her personal tutor,” Jiang Kekai enthusiastically proposed.
