Chapter 129: Big Sister, Do You Want Me to Buy You a Car?
June is here, and naturally, the weather outside is blazing hot, with the sun shining particularly bright. Outdoor activities during the day? Not a chance.
Xia Yu pondered for a moment. They had planned to hit the mall yesterday, but a sudden mishap derailed those plans. Time to make up for it! “Shall we go to the mall?”
“Absolutely!”
Jiang Kekai had the same thought. It was way too hot outside, so Xia Yu’s suggestion was perfect. Plus, she was going to share a room with Xia Yu soon, making it a great opportunity to help her dress up! After all… money was no object.
Now that the plan to hit the mall was in motion, there was no way Xia Yu could go out in those hospital scrubs. Talk about a fashion faux pas! So Wang Wenjuan promptly told Xia Hong, “Honey, you go out for a bit. I need to help Little Yu change clothes.”
“Hmm? Why should I go out? Little Yu is a boy. Wouldn’t it make sense for you two to step out while I help Xia Yu change?” Xia Hong hesitated.
“Just go out, will you? I’ll handle changing Little Yu’s clothes.”
“That… doesn’t seem right…”
Seeing Xia Hong resistant to leaving, Jiang Kekai took charge. “Someone, come in and help me get this uncle out! I need to change my sister’s clothes, and no one is allowed to come in!”
The Young Lady was on a roll. With one command, two bodyguards rushed in and stood in front of Xia Hong, stating, “Sir, please step outside. Your daughter needs to change, and it’s not appropriate for you to stay.”
These poor bodyguards had no clue, assuming Xia Yu was a girl and Xia Hong was just hanging around to take advantage of his daughter. Internally, they were judging Xia Hong. What kind of father does that?
“Er…”
Xia Hong looked like he wanted to protest, but the bodyguards weren’t having it. They each grabbed one of his arms and led him out of the room, fearing they’d be reprimanded by the Young Lady if they didn’t act swiftly.
With the sole man finally out of the way, Wang Wenjuan emerged from a nearby cabinet with a gorgeous blue embroidered dress and a complete set of girl’s undergarments. Yes, she had snagged those from Xia Ling’s room after getting her permission, just in case Xia Yu needed clothes after discharge.
Who would’ve thought they’d be put to use so soon?
Three ladies helped Xia Yu change, and she had no say in the matter. Plus, she feared moving too much might affect her surgical wounds, so she basically let them turn her into a pretty Barbie doll, complete with undergarments and the beautiful blue dress.
Since learning that Xia Yu would be transitioning into a girl and would have all the female functions, Wang Wenjuan started prioritizing Xia Yu’s health and hygiene just like Xia Ling.
Otherwise, there was no way she’d let Xia Yu wear something so casual as a tank top.
Meanwhile, poor Xia Hong was outside scratching his head, utterly puzzled about why Wang Wenjuan kicked him out but not Jiang Kekai, a complete outsider. I mean, what’s wrong with wanting to see his son’s state?
But Xia Hong decided to stop pondering and just ask Wang Wenjuan later. A few minutes passed, and the trio finally rolled Xia Yu, now all dolled up, out of the hospital room in her wheelchair.
“All set? Let’s get going!” Jiang Kekai told the bodyguards.
Like last time, Xia Yu shared a ride with Jiang Kekai in the Jiang Family’s car, and once again, Zhao Wei was the driver. Zhao Wei had just been tired last night; she wasn’t injured, so she could hop back to work after a little rest.
Everyone felt pretty confident with Zhao Wei, the responsible bodyguard, at the helm. Last time, it was just Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai in the car, but this time Xia Ling tagged along.
Why? Because Xia Hong’s car was currently in the shop getting fixed. He had to come with Wang Wenjuan in the meantime.
But that was okay! Jiang Kekai was the Young Lady, and there were plenty of bodyguard vehicles available, especially since her dad had given her extra bodyguards. They could easily swing by to give Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan a lift.
This outing was nothing short of extravagant, with a convoy of cars surrounding them for protection—just in case yesterday’s chaos repeated itself. After about twenty minutes, they reached the nearby mall, which, while not the biggest in Peng City, was certainly enough for Xia Yu to enjoy her shopping spree.
The bodyguards handled Xia Yu’s wheelchair, and as soon as they arrived, Jiang Kekai started looking for it. “Where’s Little Yu’s wheelchair? Who brought it?”
“Right here, Young Lady!” One of the bodyguards, just parking the van, shouted and immediately jumped out to help bring the wheelchair over.
The wheelchair wasn’t huge, but it was big enough that they had to unload the van’s back seat to fit it in and secure it. Once it was down, Xia Yu simply sat in it; no need for assembly!
Of course, Jiang Kekai claimed the pushing rights! It was an excellent way to earn some points with Xia Yu. She wouldn’t let that opportunity slip away!
Given the daytime, there weren’t many shoppers around—adults were working, and kids were in school—so the mall felt quite empty compared to the lively evenings. But that didn’t deter Jiang Kekai or the Xia family’s enthusiasm for shopping. Day or night, entering a mall was all the same!
Now fully prepared for a shopping spree, Jiang Kekai leaned in close to Xia Yu and whispered in her ear, “Little Yu, remember to tell your big sister what you want to buy, okay? I’ll get it for you.”
Cough, cough—
Almost immediately, Xia Hong couldn’t help but clear his throat loudly, signaling that he was still present. “Whatever my kid wants, I can pay for it!”
Jiang Kekai got the hint but wasn’t bothered. She firmly believed her desire to buy things for Xia Yu was her own business. Plus, she was worried about picking something too expensive that Xia Hong wouldn’t be able to handle. That would be awkward!
On the first floor of the mall, four luxurious cars were displayed, but in Jiang Kekai’s eyes, they seemed pretty ordinary.
However, to distract Xia Yu from the serious thoughts that might trigger her worries, she kept chatting, “Little Yu, how about those cars? What do you think? Would you like me to buy you one?”
Everyone else: “…”
Xia Hong had a strange feeling that this Young Lady was sweet-talking his son. It must be a misunderstanding, right?
Catching sight of Xia Yu’s shyly darting eyes, Jiang Kekai’s sly grin hinted that her little plan was working. “Silly girl, you don’t even have a driver’s license. Even if I bought you a car, you wouldn’t be able to drive it!”
With that, she seized the chance to playfully pinch Xia Yu’s adorable cheek—soft and cool to the touch. Not bad at all!
There wasn’t much to see on the first floor—cars and some pricey jewelry and watches, none of which anyone needed right now. So they quickly headed up to the second floor.
On the second floor, there was an area to grab little shopping carts, and Wang Wenjuan seized one because her intention was to stock up on some household supplies.
“Zhao Wei, Aunt Cheng, why don’t you each grab a cart too? I might buy a few more things.”
Right behind Jiang Kekai, Zhao Wei and Aunt Cheng grabbed carts without a second thought.
Xia Hong watched this all unfold, wondering if he should help Jiang Kekai pay for some items to save face with the Jiang family. He just hoped she wouldn’t pick anything overpriced.
But before long, Xia Hong was utterly stunned by Jiang Kekai and quietly tucked away his thoughts of offering to pay.
Why? Because not far up the second floor was the electronics section filled with high-end gadgets—a display of phones, desktop computers, and of course…
Laptops!
Jiang Kekai glanced at a laptop’s specs and shook her head before moving to the next. Eventually, she stopped at the most expensive one and sighed, “Mediocre, at best.”
Then she summoned a nearby sales associate and pointed to the laptop on display. “Do you have any higher configurations?”
The sales associate’s eyes widened in disbelief. Goodness! That was the most expensive Tianhuang brand laptop at a whopping 99,999.99 yuan! And she wanted even better? This was already the latest model!
With a scripted apologetic smile, the sales associate replied, “Miss, actually, this is the highest configuration available this year. Would you like to buy it?”
“Really? Come on! The one I currently use is also from this brand and has better specs. Alright, I’ll take two—one in white and one in pink!”
After that luxurious statement, Jiang Kekai whipped out her card from her purse, ready for the sales associate to ring her up.
