### Chapter 13: The Difference Between Men and Women
Xia Qiandream felt really uncomfortable with the odd sensation of her panties. She also worried that her younger sister’s sanitary napkin tucked inside her panties might not be able to stop the flow of bl**d, unlike regular tissues.
As they wandered through the supermarket, they passed by a pink aisle that specializes in women’s products, including sanitary napkins used during their periods.
Mother Wang Wenjuan took this opportunity to stop and pull Xia Ling aside: “Xia Ling and I are going to pick up some things over there. You all go ahead and check out the other stuff. Xia Ling and I will catch up with you later.”
Father Xia Hong didn’t ask much because he seemed to know exactly what they were getting at. He just responded, “Alright, make sure to catch up soon~”
Father continued to walk ahead with Grandpa, as these male folks felt it would be somewhat embarrassing to browse such feminine items.
Just as Xia Yu decided to follow his father’s lead, Xia Ling grabbed her tightly and said, “Second Brother, why don’t you come along too?”
Seeing this, Mother Wang Wenjuan immediately pulled Xia Ling away from Xia Yu and lectured her, “Xia Ling, your second brother is a boy; he doesn’t need those things.”
When Xia Ling finally managed to pry herself free from her mother’s grip, Xia Yu was nowhere in sight. Frustrated, Xia Ling asked, “Mom, isn’t Second Brother a girl? She had her period just now.”
Mother gently tapped Xia Ling on the head, saying, “Oh honey, your second brother is a boy. How could boys have periods?”
Mother believed her daughter was joking, so she didn’t pay much attention.
“But… I accidentally saw my second brother down there. Her parts look like mine, so she should be a girl, right?”
This time, Mother really got annoyed. Her daughter was always spouting nonsense: “Xia Ling, stop playing around. Let’s just pick out some sanitary napkins and hurry up to find your father.”
So, Mother started picking out several packs of sanitary napkins and put them in one of the supermarket’s black plastic bags.
Seeing her mother refuse to believe her, Xia Ling was both frustrated and angry. She thought if she could just get Xia Yu and Mom to confront each other tonight, her mom would believe her.
Soon enough, Xia Wen and Xia Jing caught up with the rest. Xia Yu peeked at the plastic bag in Mother’s hand but dared not ask much.
But Xia Ling, for some reason, returned from the trip and immediately wrapped her arm around Xia Yu. Since Xia Ling believed her second brother was actually a girl, she felt no hesitation being close.
However, seeing this, Mother grew displeased and quickly separated them, scolding Xia Ling, “Xia Ling, you’re a girl, and your second brother is a boy; men and women are different, understand?”
“Bu—but…”
“There’s nothing to argue about. When you were little, I didn’t care how close you two were, but now that you’re growing up, you need to maintain some distance. Got it?”
Scared that Xia Ling might say more ridiculous things, Mother cut her off immediately.
