Chapter 130

Chapter 34: Recording the Voice

The singing in the theater gradually faded out.

“Uwah~”

Night Star’s face flushed red as she covered her cheeks, her embarrassment mounting with each passing second.

She didn’t expect herself to actually sing along with the Songstress.

It must have been terrible, right?

If the Songstress laughed at her, Night Star probably wouldn’t dare to sing in the bathroom for the rest of her life.

But much to Night Star’s surprise, the Songstress wasn’t mocking her at all. Instead, she placed her hand under Night Star’s chin and gently lifted her head.

“Hmm?”

Night Star removed her hands from her eyes and looked up straight at the Songstress through slightly parted eyelids.

“Performer, your voice is very unique, leaving a lasting impression.”

Night Star tilted her head.

Was the Songstress really complimenting her?

Unique? Lasting impression? Could it mean that her singing was so bad that people couldn’t forget it easily?

Just thinking about that made Night Star’s face heat up. She wanted to scream from embarrassment already.

But then, the Songstress said something that completely changed Night Star’s thoughts.

“I really like it.”

“Really?”

“Mmm-hmm.”

The Songstress’s acceptance suddenly filled Night Star with confidence.

To be recognized by such an amazing singer meant that others could also appreciate her voice.

Now she’d sing in the shower even if there was a ghost girl around!

And she’d even sing with Night Lan, showing that ghost what a proper song sounds like.

Night Star started feeling restless with excitement.

But it wasn’t time to go home yet; the Songstress was still by her side, and she needed to build a proper relationship with her.

Unfortunately, Night Star was socially awkward and had no clue how to talk to someone as otherworldly as the Star Eclipse Incarnation. So, she cautiously asked:

“Songstress, are you interested in Songstresses?”

“What’s a Songstress?”

“It’s a special job where people dedicate their lives to singing. Among Songstresses, there are many who can sing just as well as you!”

“Curious.”

Seeing that the Songstress was intrigued, Night Star breathed a sigh of relief.

Of course, her choice of topic was spot-on. Hmm, her social skills were gradually improving!

However, most of her social interactions seemed to revolve around discussions about Star Eclipse incarnations.

That was a bit problematic.

Night Star and the Songstress sat down in the seats below the stage. As everyone knows, making friends requires good conversation. If they couldn’t chat, they couldn’t become friends; communication was key.

With that, Night Star started talking about “songstresses.”

“Songstresses are a special kind of profession that brings joy to people’s hearts. Their melodies are beloved by many. Some even sing in front of massive audiences, creating truly awe-inspiring scenes!”

Feeling that her description lacked flair, Night Star turned on the screen and projected the video for the Songstress.

“Words alone don’t do justice. Let me show you.”

She quickly pulled up a recording of Qing Liao’s concert and played it for the Songstress. Instantly, lively chatter filled the theater as the recording began.

The Songstress watched intently as the glamorous figure appeared on stage, somehow feeling a strange mix of emotions.

Next, Qing Liao appeared under the dazzling lights, looking radiant as ever.

Silent and entranced, the Songstress continued watching.

Qing Liao’s voice soon echoed through the speakers, reaching the Songstress’s ears.

“Beautiful.”

The Songstress closed her eyes, appearing to listen intently, and her lips slightly opened and closed rhythmically, as though she were trying to catch the melody and hum along in her mind.

After the performance, Night Star curiously asked, “Songstress, why do you sing?”

The Songstress lowered her head, clearly contemplating her response. Singing wasn’t instinctive, but rather driven by something deep within her…

“To make more people remember me.”

“Huh, I see…”

Surprised, Night Star slightly parted her lips. The Songstress’s purpose was unexpected—her voice was already remarkable.

Was she so easily recognizable because she was a Songstress, or was there something more to her motive?

Realizing that people would need to know about the talented female singer in the Rising Sun Theater Group.

But unfortunately, ordinary folk couldn’t see Star Eclipse, and whether her singing could leave a record remained uncertain.

Night Star pondered a bit.

Still, shouldn’t the Star Eclipse’s singing be exceptional?

Night Star worried that her voice might have strange effects that could adversely affect regular folk.

After all, she remembered the previous situation.

The Star Eclipse’s singing had caused the Night Watchers to lose their stars, turning them back into ordinary humans.

What effect would that have if ordinary people heard it?

Suddenly, Night Star had a peculiar idea. She said, “Hey, hey, hey! Can you sing another song? I want to hear it!”

The Songstress tilted her head.

“Sure.”

She stepped back onto the stage, singing beautifully in Night Star’s hopeful gaze.

In that moment, Night Star pressed the recording button on her smart device, capturing the Songstress’s melodious voice.

A few minutes passed in no time.

Night Star recorded the voice perfectly, tucking the device away with satisfaction.

“Songstress, I gotta go now. See you tomorrow~”

“Performer, until tomorrow then.”

After bidding farewell to the Songstress, Night Star happily left the theater, ready to head home.

Hours of watching videos had left her late returning, almost bedtime.

Night Lan was waiting for her at home to take a bath, while a certain ghost girl kept muttering, “When will Night Star come back?”

Annoying!

Later, after finally arriving home, Night Star opened the door and grabbed the ghost girl’s tuft of hair to stop her mischief.

“You were exposed long ago, you oaf.”

“Gnaw gnaw! Night Star, come here!”

Night Star casually pushed aside Eypar and carefully took out her smart device. She activated the player and began playing the recording indoors.

Instantly, the Songstress’s voice echoed in the room.

“Oh~♪”

Night Star nodded, pleased.

“Even if it’s not quite the same as the real thing, it’s still fantastic.”

Eypar approached curiously, circling around the device.

“That’s nice. Is this the voice of the sister from the troupe? You actually managed to record it, Night Star.”

“Good things should be preserved and listened to multiple times. Isn’t that right, Eypar?” Night Star glanced at Eypar.

“Yeah, Eypar likes it too.”

The tuft on Eypar’s head swayed as she seemed to approve of the singing.

Night Star refocused on the player.

“She sounds good; we should share this voice with more people.”

This way, she could spread the Songstress’s melody far and wide.

That was the perfect plan for Night Star.
