Chapter 136

Chapter 136: Xia Le Arrives

Xia Yu’s body wasn’t up to much, and also to prevent any unexpected incidents, so after washing up, Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai just stayed at home instead of going anywhere.

As for Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s parents, they had already gone out to work; they knew that this neighborhood was swarming with the Jiang family’s bodyguards, so letting the kids stay at home would be fine.

Like usual, Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan were too busy to come back home for lunch.

It didn’t matter. If they didn’t come back, well, who cares? But because Miss Jiang was here, Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s meals wouldn’t be bad.

On the contrary, since the two adults weren’t there, Jiang Kekai felt more relaxed, otherwise she might still have had some reservation feeling in front of them.

This is someone else’s house, after all.

So, during the midday meal, Jiang Kekai was even more unrestrained. She continuously fed Xia Yu, as if she desperately wanted Xia Yu to eat everything on the table. Perhaps… this was Miss Jiang’s way of showing affection.

Finally, even calm Xia Ling couldn’t hold it anymore after seeing such bold antics from Jiang Kekai. “Miss Jiang, when are you leaving my home?” True, ever since Xia Yu got injured and Jiang Kekai stayed by his side every single day, Xia Ling hadn’t been able to “play” around much with Xia Yu.

So, Xia Ling was quite annoyed. Xia Yu had already accepted her as a sister; now he was being hogged by this outsider Jiang Kekai.

“Why should I leave? I won’t leave. What can you do?”

Jiang Kekai was used to Xia Ling’s shenanigans by now. She knew Xia Ling did these things for Xia Yu but she enjoyed a bit of teasing. As expected, Xia Ling was gritting her teeth at this Miss Jiang but could do nothing about it, feeling frustrated.

Ignoring the frustrated Xia Ling, Jiang Kekai carefreely scooped up a delicious piece of meat onto the plate and handed it to Xia Yu: “Little Yu, open up.”

….….

Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan came back late at night around ten o’clock.

Because they ate outside, they were naturally very late when they arrived.

Moreover, they brought something along but not for Xia Yu and Xia Ling; it was for Xia Le arriving tomorrow. Yes, what Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan brought were items like bed sheets and quilts – not exactly gourmet food, but preparations for their eldest son.

After all, Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s rooms were already set up, so as parents, they naturally wanted to set up something nice for their firstborn. Especially Xia Yu’s and the lady’s room, which could only be described as luxurious.

Seeing Xia Yu curiously rolling over in a wheelchair to check out, Wang Wenjuan was reminded of Xia Yu’s condition again, and a new question arose – Xia Yu’s situation mustn’t be revealed to Xia Le, or it would be practically the same as telling Xia Hong.

As for Xia Ling, Wang Wenjuan trusted the girl well.

After all, Xia Ling had known about Xia Yu ahead of time by half a year and had kept it a secret for him, which Wang Wenjuan discovered accidentally. Without that, who knows how long Xia Ling and Xia Yu would have continued to hide it from her.

Wang Wenjuan glanced at the bustling Xia Hong, then approached Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai, giving them a subtle nod to go somewhere.

Jiang Kekai got the point instantly and started pushing Xia Yu, following Wang Wenjuan out of the room.

Xia Ling had been enjoying her TV show in the living room until she saw her mother and Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai going into the room, at which point she became curious and followed them. After all, kids her age were known for being curious.

Once the door was closed and assured that no one could hear, Wang Wenjuan asked Xia Yu the pressing question: “Little Yu, does your big brother know about your health issue?”

Xia Yu assumed his mother would tell him something important that needed such mystery. Instead, it turned out to be this.

But Xia Yu answered honestly: “No.”

Indeed, the answer matched Wang Wenjuan’s suspicions. If Xia Le knew, Xia Hong would have been informed already.

Recalling how silly she felt asking Xia Yu about surgery plans in the past, Wang Wenjuan laughed – she had no idea that Xia Yu had already undergone a perfect experiment of it.

“No problem, now that Xia Le will arrive tomorrow, be extra careful when dealing with him. I’m sorry, Mom can’t help you stand up to your father yet, so you’ll just have to endure it for now.”

Then, Miss Jiang casually said, “Don’t worry, Auntie, if you don’t want Little Yu, pass him to me. I’ll take care of him.”

It was truly audacious words from Jiang Kekai, and Wang Wenjuan had no doubt she could pull it off – but Xia Yu was still her child, and she found it safer to keep him herself.

Besides, even if Jiang Kekai supported Xia Yu financially but her parents withdrew their support, it would be awkward. So, Wang Wenjuan smiled politely as she refused Jiang Kekai: “No need, Little Ning. Your family’s already helped us greatly. It’s our responsibility now, not trouble you.”

Unbeknownst to Wang Wenjuan, Jiang Kekai was the CEO of a large company now.

After all, it made sense for Jiang Bing to have his children learn business early. When Jiang Kekai was seven, she used the money her father gave her to start a business and managed to succeed thanks to Jiang Bing’s discreet assistance.

Now eleven-years-old, Jiang Kekai achieved financial independence.

One day, Jiang Bing noticed people hired by Jiang Kekai misusing funds and planning to take control of her business, which forced him to reveal himself and help out.

Through this incident, Jiang Bing realized Jiang Kekai had a talent for business. Without his help, the failing companies would have shut down eventually.

But Jiang Kekai turned her small company into a powerhouse within three years purely under the radar.

After that, her company was put in her name with profits directly deposited into her account, though Jiang Bing participated in checking finances to prevent fraud.

That explained why Jiang Kekai knew about significant funds and would make calls to check, but he wouldn’t interfere with how she spent her own money.

Jiang Kekai, with her probing and teasing intentions, didn’t pressure Xia Yu further after realizing Wang Wenjuan didn’t want to let him go. Of course, no one would give Xia Yu away to an outsider so easily.

After they agreed to keep everything confidential, Wang Wenjuan returned to Xia Le’s room to help set things up, so he could sleep comfortably once he arrived tomorrow.

This time, Xia Yu had no interest in joining them and instead, asked Jiang Kekai, “Sister Kekai, can you help me get to bed? My back hurts from sitting in this wheelchair all day.”

True, if you exclude the nap, Xia Yu had been parked there most of the day.

“Oh, sis’ll help you with that.”

Rarely needing assistance, Xia Yu was excited when Xia Ling eagerly stepped forward to lift Xia Yu to the bed – great chance for some sibling intimacy.

But reality was harsh. Just as Xia Ling approached Jiang Kekai, Jiang Kekai preempted her and lifted Xia Yu herself.

Xia Ling was flustered, “Why would you snatch my sister away like that?!” “Is that snatching? Maybe…” Jiang Kekai smirked victoriously.

In her heart, Xia Ling ranted, “This bossy woman… ”

Xia Ling left the lavish room quickly in frustration, not wanting to face Jiang Kekai any longer.

Meanwhile, deep inside, Xia Ling comforted herself that Xia Yu was still her family, and they’d have lots of fun together later. Jiang Kekai was just a temporary outsider destined to leave eventually.

As Xia Yu lay in bed, she thought about Jiang Kekai’s words. What would happen if she really had to leave because of her family, and Jiang Kekai would genuinely support her? Or were those just jokes?

Without her noticing, exhaustion overwhelmed Xia Yu, and she drifted off to sleep.

When Jiang Kekai noticed, Xia Yu had already fallen asleep beside her.

Fine, Jiang Kekai had meant to chat before bed, but since Xia Yu was asleep now, she didn’t want to disturb her.

So, Jiang Kekai lay down with Xia Yu and pulled the covers up, deciding whether to return to the Jiang family the next day as she slept.
