Chapter 140: Get a Taste of the World
Seeing Xia Ling give up, Jiang Kekai hugged Xia Yu and gave Xia Ling a stern glare, as if issuing a challenge.
This time, however, Xia Ling held back. Fine, she thought, if this Young Lady wants to hug her, let her. She wanted to see how long this “Young Lady” could keep that up without going home.
So, Jiang Kekai continued to hug Xia Yu while Xia Ling could only pout and sit sullenly on another side playing games.
Xia Le, who had watched the whole thing, was still quite confused, but he wasn’t so focused on what was happening with Xia Yu. Instead, he kept looking over at his laptop. Yes, without his trusty laptop by his side, he felt uneasy.
Since he couldn’t enter Xia Yu’s room, wouldn’t Xia Ling be able to? Thinking so, Xia Le turned to her, smiling, and pleaded, “Hey, can you get my laptop for me?”
“I won’t. If you want it, go get it yourself.”
Without hesitation, Xia Ling rejected him. She was too annoyed at the moment. Now, Xia Le had no idea what to do.
Indeed, he was afraid of Young Lady Jing, so asking her directly would be awkward. And Xia Yu’s wounds had just started healing, so he couldn’t ask her either.
Watching Xia Le’s indecision, Jiang Kekai sighed. After all, she had brought the laptop in, so she should take it out for him. “I’ll bring it for you,” she said with an air of resignation.
To prevent another incident like before, this time Jiang Kekai smartly took Xia Yu along with her. As long as Xia Yu stayed close to her, everything should be fine.
So Jiang Kekai led the compliant Xia Yu back to their room, much to Xia Le’s delight.
Of course, Xia Le was naturally curious about Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai’s room. He really wanted to know what the place looked like, even if he wasn’t allowed in. But when they reached the door, Jiang Kecai turned around and sternly warned him, “Stay there; don’t come in.” “Alright,” Xia Le replied, his heart sinking.
No big deal, he thought, I don’t need to go in.
But as Jiang Kekai opened the door and entered with Xia Yu, he found himself peeking curiously through the doorway anyway. His eyes went wide in shock.
Heavens! Was this really the room Young Lady Kekai and her brother were staying in? It was completely different from his own room!
The room wasn’t huge, and Jiang Kekai quickly handed Xia Le the laptop, which was downloading a game. “What are you looking at? If you stare any longer, I’ll pop your eyes out!”
Seeing Jiang Kekai like this made Xia Le nervous and a bit embarrassed. He accepted the laptop and left hurriedly.
When he sat back down on the sofa, something strange happened. Xia Le suddenly felt envious and a little jealous of Xia Yu.
Sure, Xia Yu lived a more luxurious life than he did, and now he even got to sleep with pretty girls. Remember, Xia Yu used to wear his old clothes, so this made him feel a bit off-balance.
Of course, he also pitied Xia Yu being trapped in such a room with Jiang Kekai. Who knows what psychological impact that might have—like becoming a sissy or something.
But who cares? Xia Le knew it was because of Young Lady Kekai that Xia Yu got these luxuries. If she left, things would probably go back to normal.
Thinking about this, Xia Le felt a bit better.
After dinner, Xia Le’s laptop finished downloading a large game and its resources. Right now, he was eagerly anticipating playing it. Playing games at home was just so much fun.
Xia Le didn’t try to hide his excitement then. It was all written clearly on his face. So Xia Hong reminded him, “Remember, I bought this computer for studying, not playing games. And don’t stay up late either; I’ll confiscate it if I catch you.”
“Yes,” Xia Le responded cheerily, though he barely listened to a word of it.
Knowing his son’s nature, Xia Hong didn’t say much more. Repeating the same warnings would just annoy both sides.
Jiang Kekai, meanwhile, leaned against Xia Yu playfully watching Xia Le fire up the game. She knew Xia Le’s computer probably couldn’t handle such high-end stuff. Sure enough, when Xia Le tried to run the game, it crashed immediately.
Xia Hong was a company manager himself and had a laptop for work, so he wasn’t clueless about computers. “That old dog,” he thought, “he must’ve known this all along.”
Yes, Xia Hong had intentionally bought such a low-spec computer for his son.
Knowing his eldest son’s temperament, if he had bought one with gaming support, his son might become a full-blown addict.
Money-saving was also a factor.
After several frustrating attempts, Xia Le decided to delete the games and download a video app instead.
With the drama over, Jiang Kekai announced to Xia Yu, “Little Yu, let’s go back to our room and play there.”
Xia Le’s parents were in the living room, and Jiang Kekai had noticed them eyeing her suspiciously. This made her a bit uncomfortable. Thus, she seized the opportunity to drag Xia Yu back to their room, away from curious glances. She preferred being alone with Xia Yu, and her assertiveness had grown on Xia Yu over time.
Despite this, Xia Ling remained worried. Earlier, she’d seen Jiang Kekai taking liberties and that disturbed her. Xia Ling tried to control herself, reasoning like Wang Wenjuan that Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu were both females now and couldn’t do anything inappropriate.
The most that could happen was some cuddling, and perhaps a kiss on the cheek.
Therefore, Xia Ling felt conflicted inside.
Closing the door behind them, Xia Yu asked curiously, “Sister Little Ning, what do you want to play?”
Truth be told, Xia Yu somehow became submissive whenever Jiang Kekai was around. Jiang Kekai found this change quite satisfying.
Grinning wickedly, Jiang Kekai moved closer to Xia Yu and teased, “So, what game do you want to play, Little Yu?”
Startled, Xia Yu stuttered, “Wha-what…whatever you want, I’ll play with you.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, you’re truly adorable, Xia Yu, no wonder people love to bully you so easily,” Jiang Kekai responded playfully. “But no worries, as long as big sister is here, no one will dare.” Finished her taunt, she leaned forward and planted a kiss right on Xia Yu’s cheek, making Xia Yu blush deeply and look away awkwardly.
Just then, Jiang Kekai’s phone rang—the sound of its ringtone bringing them both out of their moment.
Answering the call, she discovered it was her father. “Dad, what’s up?” she asked lazily, still leaning onto Xia Yu.
“Hmm, there’s a business gathering at Tianxiang Hotel in Peng City tomorrow, and I need you to come along too. We haven’t eaten together in ages.”
“Sure, but can I bring Xia Yu along?”
Jiang Kekai played with Xia Yu’s long hair idly, twirling the tips. “Do we really need to bring her? She isn’t Jiang family after all.”
“Dad, are you kidding? If Xia Yu can’t come, then neither will I. I’m staying here with her.”
“Fine, fine! Just bring Xia Yu. Too many people would be bad for the Jiang family’s reputation.”
“Got it, I’ll bring only Xia Yu.”
“Good. You can start from nine tomorrow. Figure out your own schedule.”
“Okay.”
Thus, the conversation ended.
Xia Yu, standing by, heard every word of the conversation. It seemed Mr. Jiang was reluctant about Xia Yu joining them. Of course, families get together, why spoil the moment?
Gathering her courage, Xia Yu looked at Jiang Kekai and said nervously, “Sister Little Ning, maybe I shouldn’t go? I don’t want to cause trouble for Mr. Jiang.”
Xia Ling looked indulgently at Xia Yu, pinching her cheek gently, “Be confident, Xiao Yu—sister says you can. So don’t worry. Let’s go to sleep now and see the world together tomorrow.”
With that, Jiang Kekai lay down on one side of the bed, seemingly ready to call it a night.
Following, Xia Yu meekly lay down beside Jiang Kekai.
