Chapter 47: Blank Songstress
Yun Chang City.
Year 2096.
Weather: Clear.
Morning.
Two little lolis woke up from their beds, still a bit dazed and confused.
Once they were fully awake, Night Star Lan remembered that she should have been trying to activate the Star but had no clue if it worked.
Just as she was about to grab her phone to check the time, a sudden voice next to her startled her.
“Good morning! Night Star, Night Lan!”
Night Star halted her movements, her body freezing like a statue.
There, floating in mid-air, was none other than a Ghost Girl, looking as if she had just woken up too.
“Aypar?”
“Yup~ It’s Aypar!”
“Why are you here?”
“Hmm?” Aypar looked puzzled, “Wherever Night Star is, I’m there too! Is that weird?”
“Ah… this…” Night Star Lan was struck dumb.
If Aypar was here, it meant the Star activation failed.
“Ugh… Ji!”
Night Star and Night Lan slumped off the bed, their expressions reflecting sheer disappointment.
Aypar tilted her head, observing the little lolis’ glum states, wanting to say something but ultimately keeping quiet.
Then she nudged her little pigtail closer.
“Ehh~ ehh~ why does Night Star look so down?”
“It’s because I failed…” Night Star sighed softly, looking as energized as a deflated balloon.
“Failed at what?”
“The Star…”
“Ah, I see~”
Aypar turned around, snickering silently to herself, making sure Night Star and Night Lan didn’t catch her expression.
“What a pity~”
“Umm…”
After a moment of sulking, Night Star Lan decided it was time to pick herself up.
She refused to believe she couldn’t master the Star within her!
So she planned to open the window, breathe in some fresh air, and greet the new day with gusto!
Reaching the window, Night Star flung the curtains wide open, but before she could take a breath, the sight outside left her utterly flabbergasted.
“Ah?!”
There, on the giant screens of the tall buildings, a singing silhouette appeared, and it was everywhere!
On the screens was a long-haired girl with creamy white hair singing, dazzling and captivating!
“Who is she…?”
Night Star Lan’s eyes widened as memories rushed back to her, reminding her that the girl in the screen was none other than the Singer from the Rising Sun Theater Group!
And also… the currently most famous world songstress—Blank!
“Singer… Blank? Songstress? What are all these!?”
Night Star Lan crouched down, clutching her head as chaotic images flooded her mind, too much to grasp in such a short time.
At this moment, Night Star Lan finally understood how those poor folks who had that memory shoved into them by the Wish Machine felt!
Quick as a flash, she grabbed her phone to check the time, and found it a bit off.
Was it really 2096?!
Isn’t that just four years later?!
“Umm…”
Night Star Lan’s chaotic emotions gradually settled, replaced by intense excitement.
“Yay! I did it!”
Both little lolis jumped in unison, then bounded onto the bed, rolling around like cute little furballs.
Aypar floated over with a cheerful expression.
“Hmm~ Finally, silly Night Star figured it out! Those words earlier were just my prank, huh? Fun, right?”
However, Night Star Lan was so engrossed in her excitement that she ignored Aypar entirely, grabbing her pigtail and starting to roll around on the bed with her.
Woosh~ woosh~
After a moment, Night Star Lan finally let go of her excitement, tossing the useless ghost girl aside and looking outside to rethink her situation.
“Hmm~ I get it now!”
What appeared in her mind wasn’t just the memories of her future as a Star Eclipse Songstress, but also her memories as a human before.
Who would have thought that the human identity of a songstress was actually the world’s number one diva!
So that empty spot on the Future Songstress Ranking was meant for her?
Never saw that coming!
In her future, those four-year-old memories didn’t include the scene she just witnessed.
It was the very sight she had just seen:
Posters of the Blank Songstress plastered all over the streets, billboards showcasing her singing, the hype was on a whole new level!
That’s where the popularity of the world songstress came from.
Night Star and Night Lan leaned on the windowsill, staring out at those strange yet familiar sights, slowly getting lost in thought.
Why had she forgotten about such scenery?
She had been living in Yun Chang City for so long!
What could have wiped her memories of the Blank Songstress?
It had to be something.
And Night Star Lan had an inkling of what was at play: probably that Supernova Star Eclipse attached to Blank.
“How scary, forcibly erasing one’s own existence and making no one remember, it’s like killing a person but worse!”
She gazed toward the slender figure atop a distant building, pondering deeply.
“However… at this point, the Blank Songstress hasn’t transformed into a Supernova Star Eclipse yet, which means she’s still human, and her Star hasn’t turned into an Eclipse…”
With this thought, Night Star Lan realized what her objective was!
It was to find a way to ensure the Blank Songstress didn’t disappear!
Otherwise, turning into a Supernova Star Eclipse would mean doom!
But the question remained: how would she approach the world’s highest-ranking songstress?
That was going to be tricky.
“Hmmmm~”
The first thing that popped into Night Star Lan’s mind was the Night Watchers; with just the two of them, little lolis wouldn’t make much of a splash—or do anything, for that matter. The identity of a Night Watcher would be her springboard for action.
Got it!
Let’s go join the Night Watchers, just like she did last time in Shanghe City!
But this time was different; she already had experience and wouldn’t cry about it!
After deciding, Night Lan turned to Aypar and instructed, “Aypar, you and Night Star stay here and wait for me; I’ll head out first.”
“Yup~ Night Lan can go do what she wants; I’ll just cuddle with Night Star here~”
Saying that, Aypar happily hugged Night Star, her pigtail bobbing up and down.
Night Star promptly pushed Aypar’s face away, looking like she was refusing.
“No cuddling!” ×2
With that, Night Lan let out a breath, stepping out of the room.
Yun Chang City was her most familiar territory; having lived here for so long, she didn’t have to worry about getting lost.
In her own backyard, was there really a need to fear crashing?
Her confidence was brimming.
“Hmm~ I remember the Night Watcher Base is this way, let’s go straight!”
Knowing where to go was a blessing, no need to ask the police, she felt cool as a cucumber.
But then came the actual dilemma.
How was she going to explain her existence?
Should she, like last time, directly reveal her identity as an Extraordinary Star Holder to the Night Watchers and say she came from the future?
And then let them know that the Blank Songstress has an Extraordinary Star so they can keep a close eye on her?
By the looks of it, having a ton of information sure beat her last encounter in Shanghe City!
A perfect opening had arrived, or so it seemed!
