Noticing her little cutie tossing and turning in bed and unable to sleep, Jiang Kekai couldn’t help but open her eyes and pull her into a snuggle. “What’s wrong, Little Yu?”
Jiang Kekai was hugging Xia Yu face-to-face, and maybe it was because Xia Yu was lying low, but it felt like she had fallen into a soft, warm embrace. It was the first time she’d ever been hugged like this!
At that moment, for some reason, Xia Yu felt all warm and fuzzy inside, and she didn’t want to be let go. She liked this snug feeling, and without realizing it, she snuggled closer into Jiang Kekai’s arms. So comfy!
“Okay, little cutie, don’t move around. Just go to sleep, alright?”
How could Jiang Kekai not notice Xia Yu’s little movements? But she didn’t mind Xia Yu being this close, so she adjusted her grip and held her tighter.
At the same time, Jiang Kekai thought maybe her little fool needed some security and that’s why she relied on her so much. “Alright, Little Yu, stay still. Just sleep. Big sister has work to do tomorrow.”
She ruffled Xia Yu’s hair. Even though Jiang Kekai was feeling a bit sleepy now, she didn’t mind that Xia Yu was interrupting her rest. “Work? Sister Little Ning, do you have a job at your age? What kind of work?”
Jiang Kekai hadn’t said anything before, but once she did, it instantly piqued Xia Yu’s curiosity. So her Sister Little Ning was actually impressive, huh?
Jiang Kekai felt helpless at the moment because she was truly tired and wanted to sleep; however, hearing her little cutie ask questions made her s*ck it up and put on a bit of energy.
“Yep, your Sister Little Ning owns a bunch of companies. Want me to give you one? Then you’d have endless pocket money!”
As she spoke, Jiang Kekai playfully squeezed a bit tighter, almost as if she were trying to smother Xia Yu with affection for disturbing her sleep! But… Xia Yu was enjoying this feeling, grinning like a flower.
Xia Yu knew Jiang Kekai was joking, but she still politely declined, “No thanks, Sister Little Ning. That’s too valuable, and I wouldn’t know how to manage it anyway.”
“You can learn!”
Suddenly hit by an idea, Jiang Kekai, while hugging Xia Yu and closing her eyes, opened them again with excitement and asked, “Little Yu, how about I give you a job? It’s really easy.”
“Huh? What kind of job?”
“Secretary! How about you be my secretary from now on?”
“Ah? What does that involve?”
“Well… it’s a bit complicated. You probably wouldn’t understand the hard stuff now, but here’s what you can do: make me tea, give me massages, help me organize files, and pass messages around the company.”

Somehow, Jiang Kekai had nestled her head onto Xia Yu’s shoulder and rubbed her cheek against Xia Yu’s soft face.
After a while, noticing that Xia Yu was still quiet, Jiang Kekai couldn’t help but curiously prod, “So, what do you think, Little Yu? Do you not like your sister after all?”
“I do like you.”
“Then do you want to be with me forever? Hmmm?”
“I do want that.”
“Then do you want to be my secretary? Hmmm?”
“I do want that.”
At this point, Xia Yu’s brain was lagging behind to the point where she was just responding to whatever Jiang Kekai asked. Truthfully, it was more that she didn’t want to reject Jiang Kekai. Since she didn’t feel any aversion, she chose to accept it.
Hearing Xia Yu’s words, Jiang Kekai let out a silent sigh of relief. At the same time, her excitement and anticipation for the future swelled, looking forward to working with Xia Yu.
With another squeeze of affection, Jiang Kekai began shutting her eyes, a big happy smile plastered on her face. “Alright, you little fool, time for sleep. Tomorrow, I’ll take you out to have fun!”
“Okay!”
In the middle of the night, Xia Yu groggily opened her eyes.
She glanced at the dark, light-blocking curtains, then at her phone by the bedside—it read 4:05 AM, which meant it was still dark outside.
After lying there thinking for a while, Xia Yu suddenly seemed to make a decision. She gently eased Jiang Kekai’s arm off hers, then tiptoed out of bed and out the door.
That’s right, Xia Yu was off to the restroom. As the saying goes, nature calls! However, she didn’t want to disturb Jiang Kekai’s beauty sleep, so she planned to handle it herself.
Just as she quietly closed the door, Jiang Kekai, pretending to be asleep in bed, opened her eyes slightly, a charming smile playing on her lips.
The next moment, Jiang Kekai was up and slipping on her shoes. Even though she had a guess about where Xia Yu was headed, she couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy not following her.
Walking down the eerily quiet corridor, even with the lights on, Xia Yu started to regret her decision.
Oh no, she had overestimated her bravery—she should have brought Sister Little Ning along.
As she entertained those thoughts, she bravely pressed on because heaven forbid she disturb her beloved sister’s slumber; some things are better handled solo!
Turning a corner, she spotted four security personnel marching along in uniforms, inspecting the premises. Relief washed over her—seeing people made her feel less on edge.
“Hey? Isn’t that the girl the Young Lady brought back? I heard she’s sleeping with her. What’s she doing out here, away from the Young Lady?”
“Maybe she’s just going to the restroom.”
“Nah, she could be sneaking away with the Young Lady’s stuff!”
On hearing this, the three security personnel exchanged knowing grins, as if a plan had been silently agreed upon.
But just then, a loud voice interrupted their scheming.
“But what if the Young Lady finds out we had to escort her back? I worked hard for this job!”
“Pfft, scaredy-cat! My cousin is the security chief; we’ll be fine. Besides, I bet she’s just after the Young Lady’s money. We can just offer her a thousand bucks to keep quiet.”
“Is that really okay?”
“Just watch me. Be confident!”
With their plans settled, the four security guards strolled confidently toward Xia Yu.
As they approached, without fail, the leader of the group—an older security guard—boomed, “Stop right there! Where do you think you’re going?” His voice startled Xia Yu, making her jump. It took her a few moments to grasp the situation. Just as she was trying to gather her wits, the burly guard had already gripped her slender wrist, not letting her escape.
Facing that stern, glaring security uncle made Xia Yu a bit scared, but she forced herself to calm down and replied, “I’m just going to the restroom.”
“Going to the restroom?”
Upon hearing her excuse, the security guard exchanged a look with his colleagues, both chuckling knowingly before turning back to Xia Yu with an air of bravado, “I don’t believe you. I strongly suspect you’ve stolen something from the Young Lady, and you’re trying to run away with it. We’re going to have to search you.”
It was pretty obvious to anyone that Xia Yu was just in a nightgown with no pockets—meaning this security guard was just looking for a way to h*rass her and spice up his boring night.
If this had been before, Xia Yu might have brushed it off—after all, she was still a boy, right? If they wanted to search her, so be it—who was scared of whom? But now, for reasons she couldn’t quite articulate, as she watched that large hand moving toward her privacy, she felt genuinely terrified—like, super terrified. Her face went pale, she trembled all over, wanting to run but stuck like glue to the guard’s grip on her left arm.
“Uh, what are you planning on doing?”
Just at that tense moment, a familiar voice rang out, and around the corner came a familiar person.
Seeing her, Xia Yu felt a glimmer of hope and salvation, excitement bubbling up within her.
