Chapter 161: The Appearance of the Four Young Masters
The next day at seven o’clock, since it was the first day of school for their kids, Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan were in no rush. After driving their children to school, they finally headed to the company.
By the rules, students had to wear uniforms and carry ID badges to enter the school gate at this time. However… Xia Yu and Xia Ling had just submitted their paperwork to their homeroom teacher, He Gongxing, the day before, so they didn’t have these items yet!
Besides, they didn’t even look like first graders, and first graders would only get uniforms and ID badges later on. Unsurprisingly, the two sisters were stopped by five bored security guards at the gate. “Wait! What grade and class are you in?”
“Sixth grade, class fifteen.”
Xia Yu wasn’t great at talking, so Xia Ling took on the answering duties.
As for Xia Le, he had already sorted everything out during military training, so there was no way these guards could stop him.
However, since his younger siblings were being stopped, he wouldn’t just walk away. After all, he was their older brother! “What’s going on?”
Seeing his kids being detained by the guards, Xia Hong got out of the car to check. “It’s fine, it’s just that your kids aren’t in uniform and don’t have ID badges, so according to the rules, they can’t enter.”
Upon hearing the guard’s explanation, Xia Hong realized what was happening. “My kids just transferred here yesterday. They haven’t gotten those things yet. Can I call their homeroom teacher?”
As he was about to pull out his phone, one of the guards interrupted, “No need. We’ve already found the phone number of their homeroom teacher for class fifteen. We’ll confirm it ourselves.”
Sure enough, half a minute later, the guards let them in, but not without remembering the adorable twin sisters.
Soon after Xia Hong drove off, four luxurious black Rolls Royces lined up in front of Peng City No. 2 Middle School, exuding high class.
Seeing these luxury cars, the five security guards felt a headache coming on. They dreaded these rich boys, especially since they had heard that the Four Young Masters of Peng City were also coming to No. 2 Middle School. As expected, the next second, the Four Young Masters appeared, each clutching a backpack as they stepped out of one of the Rolls Royces. Like Xia Yu and Xia Ling, they didn’t wear uniforms; they were decked out in designer brands.
With a loud bang, the car doors shut, and led by Lin Jie, the Four Young Masters walked into the school with their heads held high and a strong sense of superiority.
The security guards knew all about these privileged kids, so they didn’t dare to stop them. After all, if they offended these rich boys, they could say goodbye to their jobs.
Watching the guards cower, Lin Jie smirked and confidently strode into the campus, with the rest of the trio following closely behind.
Once the Four Young Masters were out of sight, one of the guards couldn’t help but sigh, “Sigh, why’d these rich kids have to come here? This school is going to get lively…”
Xia Le was in the Junior High Department, while Xia Yu and Xia Ling were in a different district of the Elementary School Department, so they had to part ways immediately at the entrance. From there, only Xia Yu and Xia Ling made their way together. They arrived at the Yuying Building, following the directions given by their homeroom teacher, He Gongxing, to head to the second floor and find class fifteen.
At that moment, class fifteen was obviously not fully occupied; many desks were empty, with hardly anything on them.
Nope! There was plenty of dust.
Xia Yu and Xia Ling weren’t sure whether other students had already claimed those desks, so to avoid any confusion, they went to the very back of the classroom where some extra tables and chairs had been stacked up. They found a desk to sit at, even if it was a bit dirty.
However, they had brought water and tissues, so once they got settled, they were just fine. In this school, promotion in elementary didn’t mean splitting classes, so aside from Xia Yu and Xia Ling, everyone else in the class were veterans.
Naturally, the students in class fifteen found the appearance of the twin sisters intriguing and began to speculate among themselves about whether they were new transfers.
Soon enough, a brave girl approached Xia Yu and Xia Ling and asked, “Hi there! Are you two new in this class?”
The girl was wearing a brown-red summer uniform, her hair tied up in a neat single ponytail, and she sported an adorable pink watch on her wrist. Her lively eyes sparkled with intelligence, suggesting she was quite the study whiz.
“Uh? Yeah, we just transferred to class fifteen.”
Xia Yu wasn’t fond of talking, so Xia Ling took charge of the conversation.
For Xia Yu, even though it was a new environment, what did it matter? Her heart wasn’t in it; she didn’t want to make friends. Being alone was perfectly fine.
Upon hearing that they truly were new students, the girl became excited and pulled a chair from the front desk next to them and sat down as if she had a hundred questions ready to fire off.
Sure enough, her first question was, “I’m Huang Qiao, the class monitor! You two look alike; are you twins? What are your names?”
Honestly, Huang Qiao was the kind of girl who made friends fast and without hesitation. She instantly treated Xia Yu and Xia Ling as if they were old pals, speaking without any hint of nervousness. Hearing that, Xia Ling couldn’t help but smile, “Good question! My sister and I are indeed twins. I’m Xia Ling, and this is my sister, Xia Yu. She doesn’t talk much and is a bit shy around new people.”
Saying that, Xia Ling couldn’t help but drape an arm around Xia Yu’s neck, trying to show Huang Qiao just how close they were. Xia Yu just sighed in her mind, “…”
Let Xia Ling have her fun; it’s not like it was too overboard. So Xia Yu just sat quietly, letting her sister do her thing.
From the start, Huang Qiao sensed that the expressionless Xia Yu wasn’t the easiest person to approach. But now, after hearing Xia Ling, it seemed that was indeed the case. What looked like a simple conversation between Xia Ling and Huang Qiao was actually overheard by many classmates. After all, they were new students, and especially as such cute twins, how could they not be curious?
Now understanding Xia Ling’s words, they began to get the gist of who the two were: Xia Ling was approachable, while Xia Yu was more reserved. But good times are always short-lived, and soon it was time for class to begin.
The first class of the new school year, of course, was given by the homeroom teacher, He Gongxing. It seemed the students hadn’t quite recovered from the joys of summer vacation; they were all happily chatting among themselves, either at the front or back of the classroom.
Which made sense, considering they were sixth graders. How many could genuinely be disciplined at that age? Plus, they hadn’t even received their new books yet. What else were they supposed to do if not chat?
When He Gongxing entered carrying a box and saw this scene, he wasn’t remotely surprised or annoyed. “Quiet!” Upon his reminder, the chatting students finally snapped back to reality and focused their attention on him.
He Gongxing surveyed the class and finally settled his gaze on Xia Yu and Xia Ling. “Xia Yu and Xia Jing, your stuff is ready! Come up and get it.”
So, the two sisters in the back stood up simultaneously and walked slowly to the front of the class under everyone’s gaze.
Then, He Gongxing handed Xia Yu four sets of light blue uniforms (two summer sets and two winter sets) with white stripes, along with a campus card and a meal card. As for Xia Ling, her set was more or less the same, except her uniform was primarily brown-red.
Sure enough, the boys’ and girls’ uniforms had distinct differences; for instance, the boys wore light blue while the girls wore brown-red, and the pants had to be appropriately long.
After glancing at Xia Yu, He Gongxing felt it was necessary to announce her identity to the class. Otherwise, if things got mixed up, it wouldn’t be funny. He waited for Xia Yu to sit down before saying, “There’s something I need to clarify: this student, Xia Yu, who just transferred in, is actually a boy! He has long hair for personal reasons, so please don’t get it mistaken.”
Hearing this, all the students refocused their attention on Xia Yu, seemingly trying to find any hints of him being a boy. Surprisingly, this time, Xia Yu didn’t shy away; instead, he maintained a poker face while they gawked at him, looking as high and mighty as one could be.
As for the result… none of the classmates could see anything different, except that Xia Yu was just too cute.
However, even with this twist, He Gongxing’s explanation did clear up a doubt: the reason he gave Xia Yu boys’ uniforms was now clear!
Meanwhile, the students’ murmurs of conversation were starting to bubble back up, becoming slightly noisy.
At the same time, the Four Young Masters of Peng City had finished introducing themselves in Xia Le’s class, and the other three took a seat beside him with ease. As for Lin Jie, he purposely approached Xia Le’s desk and disdainfully said, “I’ll give you a hundred bucks; swap your seat with me.” Saying that, Lin Jie whipped out a crisp hundred-dollar bill and slapped it down on the desk, motioning for Xia Le’s desk mate to scram.
Xia Le’s desk mate was quick to catch on, took the hundred bucks, shouldered their backpack, and grabbed their books, eager to avoid any conflict with Lin Jie, the rich kid. Just like that, Lin Jie and Xia Le became desk mates.
