Chapter 69: Stable Instability Disrupted
As the concert at the Night Watcher Base gradually came to an end, the reveling Night Watchers began dispersing to their individual accommodations, each returning to their rest after the wild celebrations.
Night Lan and Blank said their brief goodbyes, then retreated into the room belonging to White Paint.
“Ahh… it’s really enjoyable.”
Blank headed back to her own room to prepare for a bath and sleep, still feeling slightly weary from the two night concerts. Fortunately, despite feeling tired, she was far from drained, thanks to her resilient strength.
Her lips curled into a relaxed smile as she stepped into the bathroom for a soothing wash. After drying off, she dove onto her soft bed, feeling incredibly blissful.
“Exhausted after today, it’s time I go to bed early. There’s still a week in this city left for me to relax. Hmm… maybe I’ll call Night Lan over and head to karaoke. I wonder what the songstress who’s so cute might sound like? Probably melodious, right?”
Excitement filled Blank as she tossed around under her blankets, eager about tomorrow’s plans. With Night Lan’s presence, she was truly reluctant to leave this city.
In an ideal world, Blank wouldn’t mind dropping her current responsibilities just to frolic with Night Lan for a while. Of course, if Night Lan would also want to stay, all the better.
“Mhmm… taking Night Lan on as a songstress companion doesn’t seem like a bad idea.”
Presently, songstresses could have supporting vocals.
However, for someone like Blank, a world-renowned songstress herself, additional backing vocals were unnecessary; no one had the privilege to provide them for her anyway due to the lack of resources backing her.
Blank wondered:
Could she perhaps transform Night Lan into her supporting vocalist, or even a top-tier popular songstress?
“Yeah, tomorrow I’ll bring that up with her. I don’t know if she’d agree, but it’d be exciting if she did.”
Speaking those words made Blank drowsy.
She settled down under the covers, pulling them over her face as she drifted off to sleep.
“My Star… she’s truly impressive…”
Today’s events solidified for Blank how perilous the power within her could become. Just one idea could eradicate harm entirely, even erasing any trace of existence, almost vanquishing someone from existence itself.
Imagine if she became a Star Eclipses, how dangerous that might be?
Blank had witnessed a Star Eclipses today, the assassin version looking terrifying. Frantically shouting and clearly emotional with dark, swirling energy exuding an unsettling evil aura, it felt like confronting a deranged person.
But… not all Star Eclipses are like that. Take, for instance, Group Leader mentioned by Night Lan. She had met him before. His presence near center stage had struck her with a distinguished air, akin to an experienced performer. Such respected performers weren’t something Blank disliked, Star Eclipses included.
Plus, sweet little Night Lan supported this Group Leader. Thus, the people she supports couldn’t be evil.
Such thoughts brought a light exhale.
“If in the future I do turn into a Star Eclipses, being like Group Leader would be fine too. Even if all other audiences forget, Night Lan would likely listen to my songs, no problem.”
Blank believed strongly in this.
“I’m doomed… my thoughts lately have been full of Night Lan! Have I fallen for her? But she can’t be more than 14, that’s underage! No… is there something wrong with me?”
Being a world-renowned songstress with zero romantic experience wasn’t strange—after all, she’s underage.
The thought of Night Lan’s youthful, adorable face intensified Blank’s guilt.
Copper smelting definitely isn’t an option!
“Growing older should help… not.”
With a happy-saddish tone, Blank fell asleep.
Her starlight glowed faintly as named “Blank Songstress” shimmered. If Night Lan saw this, she might recall that scene in the backstage lounge post-concert, it was identical.
The Blank Songstress’s existence fluctuated wildly, nearing uncontrollable states.
Unbeknownst to her, her spiritual power surged to A-class in mere moments. Such rapid growth rates are considered ‘world-bending’ among the Night Watchers!
However, no one knew that upon a Star Breaker reaching A-class power, stability limits were shattered.
Losing stability meant terrifying consequences. That’s the world’s curse upon Star Breakers.
In her dream, Blank stood blankly on a stage hearing deafening cheers. It felt unreal.
“This… is a dream?”
She found it ironic to sing on a stage while asleep, the most dedicated songstress.
Yet, given her love for singing, such dreams were completely acceptable.
Deciding to sing further and make the dream more delightful, Blank opened her mouth—
But an anomaly struck.
Suddenly, countless identity details flooded her mind. Voices chanting her name echoed:
“Blank! Blank!”
“Mmm…”
Pained, she clutched her head as her brain nearly exploded from info overload.
Is this a Star characteristic?
Has it levelled up again?
Previously, just sensing mentions was enough, but now it was magnified.
She could now pinpoint every person mentioning her, location, identity and coordinates precisely!
Though powerful, she didn’t need this info.
Her fanbase stretched worldwide. Constant tidal waves of massive data would crush her.
“Shield it, shield it!”
But despairing, Blank realized she couldn’t block it out. Information gushed into her mind like ocean waves, forcing information in until even the container would break.
So much data was overwhelming!
No mentions, please!
Don’t speak her name!
Don’t find her!
Just don’t notice her temporarily!
Even briefly disregarding her…
Next second, all info vanished, leaving empty silence. The audience below disappeared, gone.
Blank sank into deep sleep, dreaming over. Stars shifted states.
That night, everything suddenly altered…
The instant Blank reopened her eyes, disoriented amidst unfamiliar streets.
She looked skyward, noticing the sun hadn’t yet risen in the misty dawn.
“Why am I here? Did I somnambulize?”
Not possible—somnambulating straight from the base onto a street was absurdly extreme.
Facing this mess, Blank wanted to return home first.
If Mr. White Abyss spotted her absence, panic would ensue.
Carefully walking back, Blank avoided fans.
On the other side:
Mo Tu strolled calmly, heart racing inexplicably since waking.
Maybe something happened unbeknownst.
He didn’t catch more sleep but ventured out.
Instantly, he sensed weak star eclipse vibes nearby.
Strange—why were star eclipses appearing frequently lately?
Rather than alerting the Night Watcher base immediately, he wanted more intel.
Quickly, he located her—a girl with beige hair, barely noticeable.
Had Mo Tu not been a Night Watcher, he might’ve missed her initially.
“A girl who’s a stranger yet oddly familiar,”
He assessed.
Seeing her triggered sudden memory gaps, disturbing.
Within seconds, Mo Tu processed many ideas. He knew he knew this girl with a weak star eclipse aura but had no memories of her.
It felt star eclipse-related.
“What on earth is going on?”
Mo Tu frowned. Yesterday seemed normal in his memories.
Yet, analyzing recent events through stars showed useless info. Focused points were shielded. No useful insights.
“It’s affecting me?”
Saying so, Mo Tu approached the delicate figure, determined to investigate.
Elsewhere:
Blank spotted a young man approaching. Eyebrows rose, somewhat surprised.
“Mr. Mo Tu… Why are you here? Seeking me?”
Mo Tu squinted, catching on quickly.
“Tell me your identity; it’s crucial.”
“Eh? Ah… I’m the world famous songstress—Blank, who held a concert yesterday in this city.”
Mo Tu furrowed his brow, alarmed by an obvious discrepancy.
Memories lacked any world songstress presence or concert reference, but gaps existed as if important facts were forgotten.
Ignoring others, Mo Tu researched online—no mentions of the Blank Songstress.
He suddenly asked, “What’s your star title?”
“Star Breaker… Existence Interference.”
Hearing these words, realization struck.
“Ah… I have news. Don’t panic.”
“What’s happening?”
“You’re transforming into a star eclipse. Your existence is fading; they no longer remember the world songstress, Blank.”
“What…?”
This revelation froze Blank’s mind.
“Am I now a star eclipse?”
“No, not fully. You’re becoming it. Your eclipse influence remains weak, and your mental state shows no signs of eclipse change. So, it’s probably your star causing issues.”
Calming analysis, Mo Tu remained composed, not wanting any blunders at this critical juncture.
Disregarding emergence of supernova star eclipses without action.
Any hint of this could lead to severe repercussions.
“So what should I do?” Blank fretted.
Her main worry was not erasure from history but potential harm to loyal fans.
Though they forget her, recalling past support mattered.
Mo Tu responded calmly, “Return to the base. It’s not the worst-case scenario. Maybe there’s a fix.”
“Alright.” Hope sparked in Blank’s eyes.
She realized, with her presence hidden, would everyone remember her, notably Night Lan?
Would she recall her?
—
At the Night Watcher Base:
Guardian Watchers resumed daily routines, oblivious to any anomalies.
Night Lan awoke from the warm, soft sheets, sleeping well.
Eyes opening, White Paint’s calm voice greeted her.
“Night Lan, wake up? Breakfast is ready.”
“Hmm… thanks.”
Night Lan stumbled out of bed, washing up.
Blank promised to take her out, so she couldn’t dally.
After breakfast, she’d visit her.
Yet, freshly washed and dressed, an urgent message arrived on her phone.
“What’s this?”
Night Lan scanned it—important from Mo Tu.
With breakfast in hand, Night Lan approached the reception area.
White Abyss, Xiao Jin, Wang Chao, and Mo Tu awaited, including her favorite—the Blank Songstress.
Night Lan instantly noticed peculiarities.
Blank seemed distant, her presence faint and energy different.
What transpired?
Approaching others, greeting:
“Good morning!”
Gazing at Blank, noticing discomfort.
“What’s with you, Blank? Feeling off.”
Relieved sigh, a joyous laugh followed.
“Oh, feeling better now.”
Confusion crept in.
Mo Tu’s voice interjected.
“As far as known, Blank Songstress disappears, transforming into a star eclipse. Only we detect existence but remember no details.”
“Wha—?”
Instant disbelief,
“Seriously?
