### Chapter 169: Jiang Hanhan’s Words
“Really? They actually arranged a single dorm for you at school?”
Hearing what Jiang Hanhan had just said, Xia Ling was surprised, because before that, those leaders had specifically told her father it wasn’t possible to arrange a single dorm.
Sure enough, society is simple, but people are complicated.
“Come on, let’s go help your sister move things over there. Otherwise, we might miss our nap time.”
“Huh? Why do we have to go? It’s so hot with the sun blazing down, aren’t you protected by those bodyguards?”
Upon hearing this, a mischievous grin appeared on Jiang Hanhan’s pretty face as she looked at Xia Ling, “Aren’t you curious about what a boys’ dorm looks like? I’ve never seen one myself.”
Xia Ling, and by association, Xia Yu, could only follow.
The first boys’ dorm building wasn’t far from where they stood, about ten minutes away if they walked. And if they ran, even faster.
Soon, the three girls arrived in front of the first boys’ dorm building.
From below, Jiang Hanhan could hear the commotion upstairs and caught a whiff of testosterone. “Hey! This is a boys’ dorm. What are you girls doing here?”
Turning around, they saw an angry security guard coming toward them, dressed in uniform. Before the guard could finish his rant and speculate further, Xia Ling interrupted impatiently, “Stop! We’re just here to pick up some stuff and then leave.”
Yes, Xia Ling wasn’t about to be labeled as a girlfriend in waiting, or whatever else the guard was hinting at.
“Do you still want to go up? To pick up what exactly?”
“This is my sister’s luggage. Didn’t my sister mention something about it left here yesterday? Shouldn’t we just take her things now?”
With that, Xia Ling pointed at Xia Yu, who, being shy, couldn’t manage any conversation at all.
The security guard took a good look at the girls’ faces, finding nothing suspicious about them, and agreed, “Alright, but first, you need to register at the desk. Tell them which dorm and why, and I’ll escort you.”
So, under the watchful eye of the security guard, they smoothly entered the boys’ dormitory. With him around, they felt less uneasy.
Girls entering the boys’ dorm caused quite a stir among the boys inside. And oddly enough, some guys, perhaps due to the heat or because they preferred sleeping n*ked, were showing up in their underwear.
“Hey, that person in the sky blue school uniform, are they a boy or girl? Why would they wear our boys’ uniform?”
“Don’t tell me you don’t know? That’s Xia Yu from class 15. They say she has a mental illness. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gone berserk yesterday.”
“Hmm, really? I heard about that incident. I didn’t expect her to seem so small and fragile, yet be so aggressive.”
…
Listening to the other boys’ comments, Xia Yu remained calm, following the guard to her allocated room by Brother He, the head teacher. However, to everyone’s surprise, instead of twelve, the room was cram-packed with nearly thirty people chatting away. Opening the door, the air conditioning carried a strong smell of sweat.
As she noticed the stench, Jiang Hanhan almost threw up and wondered why so many people would be stuffed in such a place.
But curiosity aside, she wasn’t keen on sticking around: “Xia Ling, Xia Yu, let’s get the stuff and leave.”
Yet, just as they approached Xia Yu’s bed to move her luggage, something terrible happened.
Xia Yu’s blanket and pillow, and even the mat, were smeared with a half-eaten can of soy sauce. Gross, and clearly unusable.
“d*mn, who the hell did that?”
Jiang Hanhan, despite being well-mannered, couldn’t help swearing. If she hadn’t shown up, Xia Yu would likely still be suffering.
After looking around at the other boys, Jiang Hanhan didn’t press them for answers since she knew it would be futile. Instead, she grabbed Xia Yu and Xia Ling and left the room, “Let’s go, let’s buy new ones.”
Xia Ling, equally upset, feared that the boys might have spit on or stepped on Xia Yu’s items. She concurred with Jiang Hanhan’s suggestion that they purchase new things.
The security guard could only watch helplessly. These incidents seemed to fall outside his jurisdiction.
So, under the guard’s protection, they left the first boys’ dormitory building. Meanwhile, outside Room 501 of the first boys’ dormitory.
One of the boys inside saw Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhan depart the boys’ dormitory. He hurried back to Room 501 to report, “They left, they probably won’t come back.”
“d*mn it! Our preparations were for nothing? We need to teach that girly boy a lesson; otherwise, I wonder if Lin Shao will pay us.”
After the complaints ended, a strong-looking boy pulled out a bat he had hidden underneath his bed, “d*mn it, what bad luck. We let them escape.”
“Don’t worry, there will be other chances. Let’s just inform Lin Shao,” said an academic-looking boy, sending a message to Lin Jie with his phone: ‘Two girls and an adult showed up earlier, we couldn’t approach. Now that the girly one has left, we can proceed.’
Lin Shao replied: ‘I understand. As promised. Watch your words or the consequences will be severe.’ Lin Shao: ‘Sent you a 3000 Hong Kong dollar red envelope through QQ.’
Seeing that Lin Jie remained unperturbed, the academic-looking boy sighed in relief and accepted the red packet.
Then, turning to his buddies, he reported, “Lin Shao isn’t upset, and the money has been credited. I’ll distribute it shortly.”
Inside, though, he felt very uncomfortable making such reports and accepting such sums.
Because he wasn’t blinded by money. If his family weren’t working for the Lin Corporation and his father hadn’t insisted he befriend Lin Jie, he wouldn’t be involved in such dealings.
Watching the money-obsessed classmates, he sighed deeply. He abhorred the corrupt atmosphere.
Outside the first boys’ dorm, Jiang Hanhan let loose with colorful language again, defending Xia Yu’s honor. Xia Yu followed quietly, unsure what thoughts were swirling through her mind. She wasn’t stupid; she knew someone was targeting her.
Just now, she felt several hostile stares when she entered Room 501, as if they wanted to beat her up. Life was hard, Xia Yu thought once more.
Complaining, Jiang Hanhan suddenly recalled something: “By the way, my sister mentioned you’re her secretary now, right?”
Ah…she admitted that much herself since the paperwork and everything from Jiang Kekai was no joke.
“Given your role as secretary, you should assist her closely, right? Do you know how to step up?” Jiang Hanhan asked next.
Well, Xiao Ning explained Xia Yu needed to start small, like fetching water and delivering things, learning more complex tasks later.
“What do you mean exactly? Doesn’t it all seem like basic errand work to you? Genius my sister is, you better not drag her down.”
“You’re scary! Why beat around the bush? Just say it straight!”
Checking on Xia Ling, who kept staring at her, Jiang Hanhan couldn’t help but feel a bit intimidated, likely fearing Xia Ling might retaliate severely.
But Xia Ling’s nudge encouraged her to speak straightforwardly, “I want you to start getting used to being a proper secretary. Though I know you have your issues, please try to be outgoing. Networking is essential, and I don’t want my boss’s position just to handle fights.”
Toward the end, Jiang Hanhan’s voice lowered in distress, seeming genuinely fearing Xia Ling.
Without a doubt, a thought crossed Xia Yu’s mind, realizing Jiang Hanhan spoke the truth.
Since Xia Yu realized how much she relied on Jiang Kekai, she needed to do things ahead of time and not wait for orders.
A faint change stirred within Xia Yu, beginning to find life somewhat fascinating again.
