Chapter 171: Ning Has Slimmed Down
After packing her bags and squeezing in a few brief hours of sleep, at 5 a.m., Jiang Kekai couldn’t resist waking up Jiang Hanhang, dragging her along to Peng City Secondary School No. 2.
Yes, Jiang Kekai was transferring there too, but she was older, meaning she was in a higher grade. This transfer was for middle school.
Jiang Hanhang felt helpless about her somewhat unruly sister. Why on earth were they heading to school so early? Didn’t she need more sleep?
However, seeing how Jiang Kekai, as an older sister, was looking out for her, she held back her complaints. It was probably just this one day of early morning madness, so she grinned and bore it. Thus, they hopped into the Jiang family’s luxury car, arriving at Peng City Secondary School No. 2 by around 7 a.m.
The school leaders seemed to have received a heads-up from Jiang Bin ahead of time, as they were all gathered at the gate by 6 a.m., eagerly waiting to welcome Jiang Kekai and handle her formalities.
You see, in China and even globally, the genius young lady of the Jiang family, Jiang Kekai, was quite the celebrity—definitely a little genius, no less!
With such a prestigious lady gracing Peng City Secondary School No. 2, how could the school officials not be thrilled? Though handling the arrival of a “young lady” was a bit of a hassle, she was basically free advertising for the school.
And it wasn’t just Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang making an entrance; the four young masters of Peng City had inexplicably transferred from the first to the second school as well. These bits of good news had the principal grinning from ear to ear.
The moment they got out of the car, however, Jiang Kekai’s expression turned icy. She wasn’t about to give these school leaders even a glimmer of a good face.
Yep, she had heard about Xia Yu’s issues. To her shock, the school officials seemed oblivious to his psychological struggles and were only worried about money and rules. This left her feeling utterly unimpressed.
But the officials thought it perfectly normal for Jiang Kekai to exhibit a bit of haughtiness, particularly since she had the clout to back it up.
The first to speak was the principal, Zuo Xudong, all smiles as if he’d just won a windfall: “Welcome, Miss Kekai, to our school! On behalf of Peng City Secondary School No. 2, I extend my warmest welcome!”
Honestly, despite how awkward the words sounded, you had to admire the man for being all cheery about it. After all, they weren’t in a private setting; this was right at the school gate! There were still plenty of students milling about.
But unfortunately for him, Jiang Kekai wasn’t having any of it. She simply strutted past him and entered the school, with Jiang Hanhang lazily trailing behind.
Jiang Hanhang’s personality was all about avoiding trouble. She only had to interact personally when Jiang Kekai was absent; now that her cool sister was here, she could just follow along.
After all, she trusted her capable sister to handle everything.
As expected, following her sister was a breeze—no words needed. After all, sisters are sisters!
Seeing Jiang Kekai in this light, the various leaders who had come to welcome her exchanged awkward glances before changing direction and following her. Meanwhile, the ever-determined Jiang Kekai seemed to know exactly where she was headed and marched straight to the principal’s office without a hint of hesitation.
Clearly, she’d done her homework on the school before arriving and was somewhat familiar with its facilities.
Upon entering the principal’s office, Jiang Kekai surveyed the principal’s desk and the sofa next to it, choosing to sit on the sofa, with Jiang Hanhang following suit, acting like a little shadow.
As the leaders and principal filed in, Jiang Kekai wasted no time. With an air of superiority, she demanded, “Where’s the paperwork? Bring it over, I’m here to enroll.”
The officials were taken aback by her sudden speech but quickly got it together, handing her stack after stack of folders containing forms that had already been filled out with her basic information.
All she had to do was sign.
Jiang Kekai glanced through the folders at lightning speed and, after confirming everything was in order, she picked up the pen and signed her name. Finally, she turned to the principal, who seemed too intimidated to even take a seat, “I hear Lin Jie is also at this school, right?”
“Uh, yes, Miss Jiang! You want to join that class? I can arrange that,” the principal stammered, noticeably on edge as if terrified of displeasing her.
“Fine, I’ll go to that class. You take care of the rest,” Jiang Kekai stated bluntly before deciding she’d had enough of this place. Who knew if Xia Yu, the little cutie, was already at school? It felt like forever since they last saw each other; a hug was definitely in order!
Then, an idea struck her, and she abruptly halted mid-step, turning back to the principal with a frosty glare, “You’ve heard of the sixth grader, Xia Yu, right? I don’t want you causing any more trouble for her; I trust you understand my meaning.”
With that, Jiang Kekai finally took her leave, dragging Jiang Hanhang along with her.
Meanwhile, Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Xia Le had just arrived at the school gate as well. It was unclear whether Xia Yu and Xia Ling had not slept enough the night before, but they still seemed a bit groggy.
As usual, the sisters split from Xia Le upon entering the school, arm in arm, heading to their respective classroom.
However, when they reached the building entrance, they noticed a huge crowd gathered around their classroom—Class 15—as if something out of the ordinary was going on inside.
Curiosity piqued, they approached and headed upstairs to the door of Class 15. At that moment, they could finally overhear snippets of conversation from the other students.
“Hey, did you see? That’s the genius young lady, Jiang Kekai, who was on TV! She’s really here at our school!”
“Really? Why would she come to our school instead of staying in Demon City?”
“Who knows? Didn’t her sister come yesterday? Though her sister isn’t as famous.”
“I can’t believe both sisters are here! What’s wrong with rich families? There are better schools than this one elsewhere!”
“Who knows…”
As expected, when Xia Yu and Xia Ling squeezed through the throng and entered the classroom, Xia Yu spotted a very relaxed Jiang Kekai sitting at her desk.
And Jiang Hanhang was right next to her, occupying her desk as well.
Wow, both young ladies of the Jiang family showing up together? No wonder they had drawn so many onlookers!
Plus, neither Jiang Kekai nor Jiang Hanhang lacked in looks, and their noble air made them even more captivating.
At that moment, Jiang Kekai ignored all the stares from students gawking at her, propping her chin on her hand just like Xia Yu used to do, gazing out the window, wondering why Xia Yu hadn’t arrived yet.
Meanwhile, Jiang Hanhang was blissfully grazing on her phone, completely indifferent to school rules.
Sure, the rule was against using phones in class to ensure students focused on learning and had a shot at elite universities, but come on—Jiang Hanhang was practically born at the finish line! She didn’t need to struggle through all that; she could just inherit the family business! Besides, she had received exceptional tutoring, so though her grades weren’t quite as stellar as Jiang Kekai’s, she wasn’t dumb either.
So, elementary school courses? She couldn’t care less—they didn’t really hold any weight for her. Maybe that’s just how rich kids roll.
“Hey, Little Ning, what’s up? What are you doing here?”
At the sound of that familiar voice, Jiang Kekai’s face broke into a radiant smile. Turning, she saw the little cutie who had strolled next to her desk—who else but Xia Yu? “Shoo, shoo! Move over! I need some quality time with Xia Yu!”
Without hesitation, Jiang Kekai pushed her sister aside and pulled Xia Yu into the seat beside her.
“Geez, Sis! How can you forget your sister so easily over a cute face?” Jiang Hanhang complained, unable to help herself. She had been having the time of her life playing games, and now her sister had just done a number on her balance. She nearly dropped her phone!
After all, Jiang Hanhang was playing on a bare phone screen—since the feel of a n*ked phone was the best, but it was also the easiest to drop.
It’s not that Jiang Hanhang couldn’t handle losing her phone; she was just terrified of breaking it since it meant she couldn’t get a new one in a hurry, and even if she did get one, downloading everything was a total hassle.
Ignoring her sister’s grievances, Jiang Kekai wasted no time in embracing Xia Yu and cheerfully exclaimed, “Little Yu, you’ve slimmed down!”
Xia Yu: “…”
Xia Ling: “…”
Jiang Hanhang: “…”
Suddenly, Xia Yu had no clue how to respond, so she opted for silence, deciding to see what her little sister was up to.
As for the students outside the classroom and those in attendance, they were utterly astonished. If memory served correctly, this Xia Yu girl had once been seen as quite the delicate flower!
