Chapter 172: Giving Young Lady a Face
Just what’s the deal between girly-pansy Xia Yu and Miss Jiang, Miss Jiang Bigshot? Why is Miss Jiang being so nice to this girly-pansy? What am I even lacking to lose out to this girly-pansy Xia Yu?
These questions quickly spread among the students, from one to ten, ten to a hundred, and soon enough, they had reached the Yingying Building of the elementary school department.
Miss Jiang, however, showed no care towards the outside gossip. With her big picture perspective, she was already a top CEO at several companies. How could she bother with these minuscule matters of elementary kids?
Seeing Xia Yu standing there cluelessly, Miss Jiang couldn’t help but pinch her cute little cheeks before saying, “I heard you’ve been feeling down lately.” “Nah, only Little Ning thinks so.”
Indeed, next to Miss Jiang, Xia Yu would suddenly turn into an idiotic little missus, losing all sense around her.
Standing by, Xia Ling finally couldn’t hold back and said in a jealous tone, “Hey, we’re in school! Can you two cut it out?” “Yeah, yeah,” Jiang Hanhang chimed in, equally envious.
Xia Ling was jealous because she had hoped her step-sister wouldn’t have treated Xia Yu so nicely. Meanwhile, Jiang Hanhang was jealous because her sister was being too kind to Xia Yu, someone who isn’t family.
Hearing their whines, Miss Jiang gently let go of Xia Yu and said, “Alright, alright. We are in school now; let’s continue our talk at home. I also need to get back to my class.” Then, she turned to Xia Yu and added, “My elder brother is in Class Three, Junior High, Room 1. If anything happens, remember to find me.”
“Mmm,” Xia Yu responded blankly.
With that, Miss Jiang left satisfied after pecking Xia Yu on the cheek. The crowd was stunned, making exclamatory sounds.
“Who exactly is Xia Yu to Miss Jiang?”
Was this some sort of signal from Miss Jiang to declare Xia Yu hers? Did she not want anyone to touch him?
Only when Miss Jiang walked away for quite some time did Xia Yu start to snap out of his daze, feeling incredibly embarrassed.
“Big Sister Xiao Ning! How could she do such things!”
He immediately returned to his seat, burying his head in his arm as if hiding like that would make him invisible.
Jiang Hanhhan and Xia Ling could only watch silently.
So the two little loli girls returned to their seats as well. Jiang Hanhhan continued playing on her phone and then invited Xia Ling, “Wanna play together?” “Sure, let’s go.”
“Cool.”
“You’ll see if it’s cool or not.”
They didn’t realize how long had passed as Xia Yu, feeling shy, had fallen asleep on his desk.
Until Gao Xiaotian woke him with a pat, asking, “Hey, dead or what?” “No, you’re the dead one.”
Xia Yu responded quickly and fiercely, still in the mindset left over from his boy days.
Once again, he drew everyone’s attention. Now Xia Yu has become quite the celebrity thanks to what happened just now with Miss Jiang.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Xia Yu’s insecurities resurfaced. She wanted to hide away.
But then, the words of Jiang Hanhhan from yesterday echoed in her mind—she needs to overcome her timidity.
Thus, Xia Yu suppressed her desire to avoid others’ gazes and casually asked her classmate, “Is there something?”
She didn’t realize her face had turned red, clearly showing her physiological reaction.
Seeing this, Gao Xiaotian hesitated whether to continue probing since he wondered if Xia Yu was ill and worried what Miss Jiang might say.
“Nah, no issue. Just wanna tell you class is starting soon.”
That was Gao Xiaotian’s reply. He felt it best not to ask further till Xia Yu calmed down.
“Oh,” Xia Yu replied and quickly turned away, still inwardly insecure.
Nevertheless, Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhhan observed Xia Yu’s change closely, approving of her progress despite its gradual nature.
On the other hand, Class Three, First Year had been gathered ahead of time due to Miss Jiang’s arrival. Naturally, she got a chance to introduce herself.
Miss Jiang didn’t hesitate, knowing she wasn’t in a formal setting. And given Pengcheng City’s Four Lesser Devils who might target Xia Yu, her speech carried implied threats.
“From Jiang Family of Demon City, Miss Jiang Kekai. Look up info yourself. Let me clarify – my siblings, Xia Yu and Xia Ling from the same class, better not provoke them. Otherwise…
She glared at the four lesser devils sitting below. Obviously, she was directing her remarks towards them.
Interestingly, Xia Yu’s elder brother Xia Le was sitting with Lin Jie, smiling happily. Miss Jiang wondered why Xia Yu hadn’t warned her against Lin Jie.
But that thought was fleeting as Miss Jiang focused elsewhere, considering investigating later.
Meanwhile, Lin Jie dared to glance at the seated Miss Jiang. He sighed inwardly – why did she come here too? Not afraid, but certainly annoyed for being tricked out of fifty million.
Compared to Lin Jie’s boldness, the other three lesser devils were timid. They feared the Jiangs more than their own.
Seeing the glare, Miss Jiang looked back.
The standoff began anew, as it always did. Xia Le at the center was confused. Wasn’t Miss Jiang fond of Xia Yu? Why glare so intensely at him now?
In truth, Miss Jiang regarded Xia Le simply in passing – Lin Jie, a threat to Xia Yu, cannot be overlooked.
Their glares were obvious. Perhaps, the teacher understood why Miss Jiang chose this particular class.
For he admired teaching prodigy Miss Jiang and the four lesser devils. But now, he sought a transfer.
Online buzz surrounded the news of Miss Jiang attending Pengcheng No. 2 Middle School, a top-notch student by her name. This would benefit recruitment next term.
Or perhaps interest in transferring had started bubbling.
