### Chapter 179: Chicken b*tt
At this very moment, Xia Yue’s brother, Xia Le, didn’t waste any words and directly conveyed Lin Jie’s message: “The guy named Lin Jie should be someone you know, right? He invited you to join his team as part of the bro crew. Wanna hang out together after school?”
“Oh my?”
Xia Yue was a bit dazed. She thought her older brother was going to tell her something big and mysterious, but it turns out he just wanted her to join some guy’s team.
However, with Lin Jie, not only did Jiang Kekai tell her to stay away from him, her own intuition was also telling her that this guy had bad intentions towards her. So Xia Yue firmly refused her brother: “I don’t like too much noise, so please let him know I appreciate his offer but decline politely.”
Xia Le thought she might be scared of being bullied by upperclassmen and continued to reassure her: “Actually, I’m in too; there’s no need to worry about getting picked on.”
“But I’ve never liked group activities.”
Seeing Xia Yue’s resolve in her eyes, Xia Le sighed and gave up: “Alright, alright. If you want to keep hanging out with those girls, I won’t stop you. Go ahead back now.”
Just then, Jiang Kekai kicked open Xia Le’s door with a loud bang. Indeed, Jiang Kekai, being a martial arts practitioner, could easily kick open a locked wooden door.
Seeing Xia Yue and Xia Le both stunned by her presence, she didn’t hesitate; she pulled Xia Yue out of the room by the hand.
Meanwhile, Xia Le stood there in a daze, his mouth agape as he contemplated how he’d get through the night without the protection of his door, especially since he couldn’t secretly play video games with his new computer any more.
Xia Ye had second thoughts about bringing Xia Yue back to his room.
When he came out, he saw Xia Hong staring at him in shock. Jiang Kekai responded nonchalantly, “Those doors are insecure; I’ll have them replaced tomorrow.”
Hearing her, Xia Hong couldn’t argue. After all, Jiang Kekai, for better or worse, always finds solutions. Xia Yue, like a scolded child, was dragged back to the sofa by Jiang Kekai, feeling somewhat awkward.
Xia Yue had expected her elder sister, Little Ning, to scold her because Little Ning had warned her not to get close to their brother. Yet, despite her efforts, she ended up getting closer to her brother anyway. Seeing Jiang Kekai’s furious expression when she kicked open the door, Xia Yue was even more afraid to speak.
But Jiang Kekai only pinched her cheek softly and asked, “Do you remember what I told you before?”
“Yes, I remember,” Xia Yue replied, not daring to look at Jiang Kekai and still a little fearful.
“Ugh, what am I supposed to do with you? You have to pay attention to these things in the future. I can’t always be there to save you.” As Jiang Kekai spoke, she looped her arm around Xia Yue’s neck once again, drawing her into her embrace.
“Oh, no love, no love at all.”
Seeing her beloved older sister shower Xia Yue with affection, Jiang Hanhang threw herself melodramatically into Xia Ling’s arms, acting as if they were the best of friends.
Naturally, Xia Ling laughed and hugged her back.
It was at this moment that Jiang Hanhang realized how foolish she had been. To her dismay, she found herself stuck in Xia Ling’s grip, unable to move. “Sis, help me!”
Jiang Kekai glanced at her and then ignored her completely. She wasn’t foolish herself—without Jiang Hanhang’s interference, Xia Ling would have likely started pestering her again. So, a helpless look on Jiang Hanhang’s face was all Jiang Kekai offered before returning to hold Xia Yue and continue looking at the screen.
Xia Hong felt something odd about the scene with the four women, though he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
As the cooking in the new house was completed, Chef prepared the dishes and brought them to the dining table. Jiang Kekai, just as she always does, fed Xia Yue, who obediently opened her mouth and ate.
On one side, it was a heartwarming scene between Jiang Kekai and Xia Yue. On the other, Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling looked like they were embroiled in some sort of battle over the food. Xia Ling had just picked up a piece of pig ear meat when Jiang Hanhang snatched it away.
Noticing her moves, Xia Ling quickly dodged and tried to eat something else.
Yet suddenly, Jiang Hanhang threw down her chopsticks and lunged, wrapping one arm around Xia Ling’s neck while grabbing for the chopsticks again.
She managed to snatch the meat from Xia Ling, even with the cartilage intact.
Xia Yue: “…”
Xia Hong: “…”
Wang Wenjuan: “…”
The peculiar scene left them speechless, and even their food lost its taste.
Finally, Xia Ling couldn’t take it anymore. With one arm around Jiang Hanhang, she hit the back of her head: “Are you really going to act like this during dinner?”
“I’m not tired! If you want it, try taking it out of my mouth.”
Xia Ling laughed despite the hit.
Despite the pain, Jiang Hanhang smiled happily because she knew she had won. If Xia Lei had been the father of these kids, she would have given them both a good scolding for eating like this. But now, he could only remain silent out of respect for the Jiang family sisters.
Suddenly, Wang Wenjuan remembered something and said to Xia Ling, “Little Ling, the school uniform in the washing machine is yours. It’s dry now, go pick it up.”
“No, that’s the new one the school gave to my younger sister. It’s kind of a privilege for her.”
Thinking about the timid looks of the principal and the homeroom teacher, Xia Ling smiled, recalling how ridiculous it was. Then she resumed eating another piece, but Jiang Hanhang interrupted again…
Wang Wenjuan, ignoring Jiang Hanhang, asked curiously, “A privilege?”
“Yes.”
Xia Ling glanced at their father and brother, and eventually decided to reveal, “My little sister was afraid of being blocked inside a boys’ bathroom, so the school gave her the special treatment of allowing me to accompany her to the girls’ toilet.”
“How is that possible?”
Realizing the situation, Xia Hong understood why his own face held less clout than Jiang Hanhang or Jiang Kekai. The school preferred to give face to the Jiang sisters rather than him.
So, instead of facing further embarrassment, Xia Hong chose to keep silent, letting the Jiang sisters handle any issues with their children.
Listening to this conversation, Xia Yue became confused about whether to feel envious or repulsed. But she just kept enjoying Jiang Kekai’s company, unbothered by the exchange.
Jiang Hanhang was much the same. Whatever Jiang Kekai gave, Jiang Hanhang acted like she hadn’t eaten, snatching it all.
Suddenly, Xia Ling noticed something, her eyes twinkling. She stretched her chopsticks towards an apparently boneless piece of chicken and grabbed it.
When Jiang Hanhang realized it was just chicken breast, she lunged again, ready to snatch it.
As she chewed, she suddenly felt something wrong and spat it out with disgust. Furious, she grumbled, “How dare you make me waste my time with this.”
Xia Ling, suppressing laughter, looked at Jiang Hanhang; perhaps the joy of pranking was worth it.
No doubt, the chicken b*tt was saved for Xia Hong by the chef. It reminded him of childhood memories of eating poorly. Otherwise, the chef would never put chicken b*tt in Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang’s dishes.
After dinner, the four returned to the sofa, cuddling together. Even Wang Wenjuan wished to join them but found no space.
Jiang Kekai, not busy recently, watched Xia Yue attempt to play a mobile game. Bored, she bought a silver tier account to play alongside Xia Yue.
Jiang Hanhang, knowing her sister’s strength, naturally jumped in too.
Similarly, Xia Ling was dragged along by Jiang Hanhang.
Seemingly, the mutual teasing had made their relationship stronger, bonding them together. Xia Le was included for five-player matches, but only if he sat away from the main group.
Now with the kids playing games instead of doing homework, Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan didn’t know whether to say anything or just sigh in frustration.
