Chapter 9: Did You Hear…
Night Watcher Base.
Night Lan shared a rough outline of Kong Yu Bai’s story with White Fish, helping her understand the general flow of events.
“I see~ So Sister Kong Yu Bai actually has such a touching story, it’s so moving~” White Fish wore a face filled with warmth, clearly enchanted by the tale.
This reminded White Fish of the time Night Lan had suddenly appeared before her, offering a helping hand. That sacred moment was unforgettable.
Snapping back to reality, curiosity flickered across White Fish’s face.
“So, what about it? Was the sister back then super cute?”
“Mmhm~ That predecessor White Paint was absolutely adorable! Otherwise, I wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to cuddle with her before coming back. She was small, easy to understand, and on top of being cute, treated me like a benefactor. If I could’ve, I would’ve brought her back with me!”
“Oooh~ You’re totally right! Night Lan really gets it! I still remember her from back then; she was the cutest! Every time she came to see me, I felt a bit reluctant to let her leave. But she said she wanted to grow strong enough to protect me well. That promise warmed my heart~ That’s why I’ve always loved having a sister like her!”
“Mmhm~ That predecessor White Paint is like a treasure.”
“White Fish totally agrees!”
Just then, Zero Meow returned.
“Mm Meow? What are you guys chatting about? Is it about predecessor White Paint?”
“Welcome back~” White Fish said with a smile.
Since Zero Meow was back, they couldn’t chat about such secretive matters anymore.
Although hiding it from her felt a bit sad, who could help it? It was a pretty big secret!
Night Lan switched the topic: “Speaking of which, that blonde loli we met at the diner yesterday has come to the Night Watcher Base.”
Upon hearing this, both White Fish and Zero Meow were surprised.
“Really? Why is she here?”
Zero Meow pondered for a moment.
“Mm Meow~ I think she might be preparing to become a Night Watcher, so she’s here temporarily to learn and stuff.”
Night Lan nodded along, agreeing.
“That’s what I thought too! I saw her in the cafeteria. It seems she’ll be making breakfast for the Night Watchers every morning for three hours. If you like her cooking, you might want to wait for her service hours!”
“Whew Meow~” Zero Meow reminisced about the tasty food they had last night. It was a refreshing change to try something new.
“Well, I’ll wait around that time then. That little gal’s cooking suits my taste pretty well.”
White Fish warned: “Just don’t end up like a fat Meow while eating!”
“Hmph Meow~ I wouldn’t be that gluttonous. In terms of self-control, I’m pretty strong!”
“Ehh~ Is that so? If that were the case, you wouldn’t have rushed to the scene when Star Eclipses showed up before,” Night Lan teased.
Zero Meow promptly choked, getting embarrassed and frustrated, directly pouncing on Night Lan and pinching her face.
“Don’t expose me, silly Night Lan!”
“Wah~ I’m sorry!”
Night Lan squeaked, begging for mercy.
White Fish quickly reached out to help, only to be pressed down by the super-strong Zero Meow too.
“Hmph Meow~ Even with predecessor White Paint backing you up, I’m still gonna get you today!”
“Eh eh eh?!”
White Fish was taken by surprise, looking utterly flustered.
Is she also becoming a victim of Zero Meow?!
Sorry, Night Lan, I can’t save you now~
At that moment, the door swung open, and a slender figure walked in, stunned by the sight.
“What’s going on here?”
Hearing that voice, Zero Meow froze mid-pounce, awkwardly turning to give a forced smile.
“Predecessor White Paint… what are you doing here?”
White Paint glanced at the two petite figures pinned down by Zero Meow and replied flatly, “Because I heard the children’s cries.”
“Yikes!”
“Just kidding.”
“Don’t joke around with such a cold expression, it’s terrifying!”
Zero Meow got off the two and let Night Lan and White Fish sit up.
White Fish looked puzzled.
“Sister, why are you here?”
“Because I have something to discuss with you all.”
Just then, Night Lan noticed a tiny silhouette hiding behind White Paint, revealing a few strands of golden hair, making her slightly curious.
“Hmm?”
White Paint brought the hidden figure forward for all three to see.
“Do you remember her? This is Neko Shinna; you should recall her.”
The three lolis blinked in surprise.
Not just remembered; they had just been talking about her! This adorable little chef definitely wouldn’t be forgotten quickly.
“Why is she here?”
White Paint explained, “Her family is going on a business trip, so they sent her here to the Night Watcher Base for an internship. She was originally preparing to be a Night Watcher, so it’s just perfect for her to come over early and adapt.”
“Oooh~ I see.”
The three of them exchanged relieved looks, having already guessed most of it.
Then White Paint continued, “Although Neko Shinna isn’t on the front lines as a Night Watcher, she still needs to have the necessary knowledge, so I’ll leave that to you, Zero Meow.”
On hearing this, Zero Meow broke into a happy grin.
“Leave it to me! I’m super good at training newbies!”
“Just don’t bully her, okay?”
“No way, Meow! I’m not that kind of person!”
White Paint couldn’t help but pat Zero Meow on the head.
“Then that’s good; I appreciate your efforts.”
“Not a bother, Meow~”
With that, White Paint prepared to leave.
“Alright, you all get along well. I’ll be going now.”
“Bye~”
The little lolis all chimed in their farewells.
Once the only older girl in the room had exited, the rest of them were left behind in the lounge.
The atmosphere got a little quiet.
At that moment, Neko Shinna pulled out a small bag from behind her and presented it to the three.
“Um, this is a snack I made myself. Please enjoy it. I look forward to your guidance in the future.”
Zero Meow pondered for a moment.
“Do you always make your debut with sweets when making friends, Meow?”
“Ah… yes.”

Everyone couldn’t help but feel their hearts melting.
What a cute girl.
Zero Meow grabbed the snack bag and placed it on the table, pulling Neko Shinna over.
“Alright, Meow, don’t just stand there. Come sit! It’s time for self-introductions.”
“Mm.”
Seeing that these three peers seemed easy to get along with, Neko Shinna sighed in relief mentally.
This reminded her of a certain friend who preferred to stay home. If only she could come here too.
Sadly, she preferred being a couch potato and wasn’t much into socializing.
If Neko Shinna wasn’t her neighbor, they probably wouldn’t have met, seeming like a fish-out-of-water devoted to lounging around.
It’s a miracle she still managed to live so carefree.
Then Neko Shinna suddenly recalled the song she shared with her last time. Did she listen to it?
It’s been a while without a response. Could it be… she hasn’t even gotten up yet?
Hmm… with her laid-back lifestyle, that just might be possible.
Waking up early is already a loss.
That’s what she often says.
