### Chapter 184: Should We Move Out?
As they say, those who share happiness with you aren’t necessarily your brothers, but those who share hardships definitely are.
Lin Jie and the gang wanted to go to the hospital for a check-up. Xia Le, as the loyal brother sharing their pain, naturally came along. Fortunately, none of them took anything too serious; no fractures, just some bruises from the beating. Apply some medicine, rest a bit, and they’d be good as new. Xia Le couldn’t help but feel closer to these brothers—maybe this was what it meant to be “brothers in arms.” Lin Jie even sent Xia Le home in a car afterward.
By the time Xia Le got home, it was already past eight in the evening. Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan were already back from work. Xia Hong was about to call Xia Le when Xia Le suddenly showed up. With his face full of bruises, Xia Hong furrowed his brows and asked, “Where have you been? What happened to your face?”
“I didn’t go anywhere.”
Xia Le’s eyes darted around, clearly lying.
Xia Hong knew he was fibbing, but with his son’s stubborn nature, he decided not to push, “Let’s go eat.”
Xia Le had prepared excuses in his head for why the father wouldn’t keep asking these questions, but now Xia Hong was letting him off the hook. He sighed and hoped this would blow over.
Jiang Kekai, being the high-and-mighty young lady that she is, wouldn’t give Xia Le any face. If he doesn’t want to come home for dinner, fine! Should she wait for him? No way!
So, Xia Yu, Jiang Kekai, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhang were dining together, not waiting for Xia Le. Xia Le sat down and started eating.
But while eating, his attention was fixed on Jiang Kekai feeding Xia Yu and Jiang Hanhang snatching food. Xia Le found it hard to believe that Jiang Kekai ordered someone to beat him up and his friends. He couldn’t hide it—Jiang Kekai noticed.
Once or twice was okay, but this frequency was too much for her. So, Jiang Kekai, without mincing words, turned cold towards Xia Le, “What are you looking at? Eat your food.”
Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan had been busy eating, but Xia Le became the center of attention because of Jiang Kekai’s words.
Still silent, Xia Le quickly finished his meal and returned to his room.
Later, Xia Hong knocked on Xia Le’s door and entered. Meanwhile, the four girls were leisurely playing on their phones or computers.
When Xia Ling saw her father talking to the elder brother, she poked Xia Yu and said, “Little Yu, don’t you think our older brother is acting really odd?”
“Yeah.”
Even the dense Xia Yu could tell something was off. Xia Le’s gaze had been fixed on Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang, and he spoke less than usual.
At that moment, Wang Wenjuan, sitting on the other sofa, jumped into the conversation, “Little Yu, Little Ling, did you see your brother at school? Was he hanging out with anyone bad? Is he still forming gangs like before?”
Xia Ling and Xia Yu immediately recalled seeing their brother with Lin Jie earlier. He wasn’t listening to anyone.
The sisters were torn between loyalty and truth.
Suddenly, Jiang Kekai answered for them, “No, Xia Le is in the junior high, Little Yu and Little Ling are in elementary, so they never meet. Also, I take her out for meals, so I didn’t see him.”
“What about during dinner?” Wang Wenjuan continued pressing.
“He was out with me, and I didn’t see him.”
With that, Wang Wenjuan gave up trying to pry more information from her daughters. As a concerned mother, she was worried about her injured son, especially since Xia Le wouldn’t say anything.
Wang Wenjuan then put her hopes on Xia Hong, hoping he could get to the bottom of things.
Sure enough, under Xia Hong’s stern questioning, Xia Le broke down and spilled everything. About meeting good friends at school, getting followed, then beaten by Jiang Kekai’s people. Xia Hong initially didn’t believe it—why would Jiang Kekai harm her own son?
But Xia Le insisted, his emotions intense, which made Xia Hong ponder. Still, following the principle of discussing issues openly, Xia Hong reluctantly brought Xia Le to the third sofa, ready to talk.
Xia Hong, without further ado, looked at Jiang Kekai and asked, his tone now less friendly, “Jiang Kekai, my son says you sent people to beat him?” he asked accusingly.
“Huh?”
Hearing Xia Hong’s harsh tone, Jiang Kekai frowned, but Xia Yu was there, so she kept it cool: “No, I wouldn’t do such nonsense.”
She then pulled Xia Yu into her embrace and pinched her cheek, venting her frustration on Xia Yu.
What could Xia Yu do besides endure?
Seeing Jiang Kekai act unprofessionally, Xia Hong’s mood worsened, “Stop the games, Little Yu. Let’s discuss this seriously.”
Even so, Xia Hong remained wary of directly confronting Jiang Kekai or the Jiang family.
So, choosing to use Xia Yu as a buffer, Xia Hong thought he wouldn’t offend Jiang Kekai. Unfortunately, that only infuriated Jiang Kekai.
For her, insulting Xia Yu was unacceptable, even for Xia Hong. Xia Yu, struggling in Jiang Kekai’s grip, started fearing for her life. Jiang Kekai’s tone hardened, “I said no, so why are you probing? If you’re after drama, just say so!”
Shocked by Jiang Kekai’s sudden change, Xia Hong backed down instantly. Jiang Kekai, small in stature yet formidable, intimidated Xia Hong with her presence.
Jiang Kekai’s aggression frightened Xia Ling, who pulled Xia Yu back to their room, avoiding any further entanglements.
“Okay, I was just asking… My son said those who hit him were yours.”
Xia Hong began to cower, his voice softening, but Jiang Kekai paid him no heed.
“You think your son has no brain? What if someone accuses you? Crazy person…”
Angry, Jiang Kekai swept Xia Yu away, heading back to her room.
Xia Hong had pondered this before but had to confront Jiang Kekai due to Xia Le’s certainty. Seeing the closed door to Xia Yu’s room, Xia Hong hesitated and retreated from further confrontation.
Xia Hong asked Xia Le, “Is what you said true? Got any evidence? Know who these friends are?”
Xia Le nodded, “Yes.”
“Talk to them tomorrow. Maybe they can provide something. We need this sorted out.”
The next moment, in Xia Yu’s room, Jiang Kekai roughly pushed Xia Yu onto the bed and tightly hugged her trembling figure.
“Xia Yu, your family doesn’t seem to like me. How about we move out?”
