Chapter 187

### Chapter 186: Sisters

When they saw the investigation results, the four family heads and their sons from Peng City all frowned.

You see, through this survey, they realized that the attack wasn’t from the Jiang family in Demon City, but rather someone else, most likely from the capital city.

Just as they were about to dig deeper, they were stopped by the authorities in the capital; clearly, a bigger family was doing this to keep them from uncovering the truth. Actually, it didn’t matter much because Lin Hai wasn’t a fool. In the capital, there were plenty of noble guys vying for Jiang Kekai’s attention—House Long, House Feng, House Wang, and the list went on.

But Jiang Kekai just wasn’t interested, which led Lin Hai to instruct his son, Lin Jie, to try and woo her, hoping to find an opening. They were even warned by some big shots back then.

“This can’t be pursued too deeply right now. Be careful when you’re out. I’ll send more people to guard you; if they dare come again, fight back.”

Yes, that’s exactly how Lin Hai operates; whoever messes with his family gets a taste of their might. So naturally, he doesn’t tell his son to hold back; better a direct fight than hiding. Instead, he just asks him to be cautious.

Because of this, Lin Hai has made quite a few enemies, yet he also has many friends. After all, a foe’s foe is often a friend. The power of the Lin family could tip any scale, making Lin Hai fearless of the Jiangs and other families from the capital—he’s got plenty of heavy hitters.

Lin Jie was very satisfied with his father’s decisions: “Got it.”

Like his father, Lin Jie isn’t keen on being overly confined—he’d rather face an opponent head-on than hide in tranquility. He told his brothers to follow suit, ready to fight back if needed. When Xia Yu woke up in the soft embrace of Jiang Kelei, he blinked groggily to the morning light.

Feeling movement, Jiang Kelei opened her eyes to see Xia Yu, a grin breaking out: “Sleep well?”

Xia Yu initially thought about changing position to continue snoozing, but Jiang Kelei’s adorable voice stopped him. He had no choice but to open his eyes and turn towards her, lazily saying, “Good morning, Little Ning Sister.”

“Good morning, let’s get cleaned up.”

Seeing Summer Yu’s cute face, Jiang Kelei couldn’t resist giving her a quick smooch on the forehead, taking a small advantage.

Xia Yu was somewhat used to Sister Xiao Ning’s playful antics; Jiang Kelei was no stranger to touching her at night anyway. But Xia Yu knew his place—he respected Jiang Kelei but didn’t think of anything permanent or improper. Just some affectionate camaraderie.

Thus, Xia Yu started his day by lazily heading to the bathroom, another boring day ahead.

Summer Xia still held bias against Jiang Hanying and Jiang Kekai despite not knowing the full story. He’d scowl or glare whenever he saw them. If not for Xia Yu, Jiang Kekai would’ve disciplined him; she too had trained.

Jiang Hanying, however, paid him no mind beyond a glare. Who cares anyway? And after what happened between her and Xia Ling last night, they were closer than ever.

So, Jiang Kekai took Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and her sister to school, leaving out Summer Xia whom she blamed. But he didn’t mind; he’d take the bus anyway and wasn’t keen on being seen with Jiangs.

He had particular grudges against the Jiangs, especially Jiang Kekai—who did she think she was, rich girl?

Back in class, Xia Yu immediately spotted Gao Xiaotian playing games vigorously on his phone—some battle royale game. Gao Xiaotian seemed addicted. He didn’t notice Xia Yu standing nearby and moved over reluctantly when she tapped his desk.

Grinning at Xia Yu’s cuteness, Gao Xiaotian said, “Oh, here’s the lovely Miss Xia Yu; come in.”

Xia Yu just sighed and looked elsewhere.

His two female classmates were intrigued by Xia Yu’s serious book reading. Without classes starting yet, they turned around for a chat.

Curiously, one asked, “Xia Yu, what are you reading? Could we take a look?”

Xia Yu handed it over confidently figuring they wouldn’t have the patience. True enough, they flipped through a page and dismissed it as boring, returning it.

Unbothered, Xia Yu sat down with the book and tried to learn quickly, aiming to be a worthy assistant to Little Ning Sister.

Meanwhile, Gao Xiaotian burst out laughing, drawing the girls’ attention—his laughter covered his thoughts. “Why are you wasting time, you’re missing your game. Finish that first.”

One girl grabbed his book and tossed it back, nailing him perfectly. Gao Xiaotian reluctantly put it away.

Elsewhere, Xia Le returned to his class, meeting his own gang. Yesterday’s clash left only Peng City’s Four Young Masters as potential buddies. The deserters were treated with equal disdain as Jiang Kekai. They hated cowards and those who backed out.

Seeing red marks on Peng City’s kids, especially Lin Jie’s face, Xia Le felt certain they had been thoroughly punished. Hence, they didn’t regret cutting ties with the brothers.

Xia Le sat down, glanced at Jiang Kekai typing away on her computer, then faced Lin Jie: “Anything useful from yesterday’s attack on us by the Jiangs? Now that Kekai is staying with us, if we get more evidence, you know what to do.”

Jiang Kekai caught the tail end, continuing her task without showing concern. She was happy seeing the Peng City boys hurt. Regardless of who was behind it, blaming her was unwarranted. Even if they found forged evidence, she didn’t care—she could leave with Xia Yu anytime, although Xia Yu seemed content with his family.
