### Chapter 193: A Mind for Recruitment
“Alright, stop kicking! If you keep this up, she’ll be dead for sure, and dealing with a corpse later will be a real pain.”
Hearing the words of the lead man, the others finally stopped kicking Xia Yu and immediately turned to get back in their car—no hesitation. Clearly, they were well accustomed to such procedures. When they needed to get rough, they didn’t dilly-dally. And once they decided to leave, they didn’t waver either, because they were professionals.
Xia Yu had already slipped into unconsciousness, with vivid red bl**d trickling from her mouth. It was only then that the lead man grew a bit concerned, fearing the trouble it would cause if his team went too far. They were there to teach a lesson, not to make things lethal.
Xia Yu’s two boxes of cheong fun were scattered on the ground—ruined, utterly wasted. But now, they had bigger problems.
In seconds, over ten black sedans sped towards them at an alarming rate, encircling them like a noose. There was no doubt these vehicles belonged to the bodyguards of the Four Young Masters of Peng City.
None of the bodyguards hesitated as each car disgorged six to seven men, totaling almost eighty, all brandishing batons. Without question, these were the elite protectors of the Four Young Masters.
When the bodyguards arrived so fiercely, the three vans’ occupants understood that their situation just became exponentially worse. They couldn’t just sit and wait for fate. Each man quickly grabbed his own baton and rushed out of the van doors with forceful “pops.”
It was one versus eighty. The men weren’t fearless, but what choice did they have? Begging for mercy might still not save them.
The lead man, pushing down his own fear, attempted to negotiate: “Wait, we’re from the Huang Family in the Imperial Capital. Do you know what the consequences will be if you touch us?”
The Huang Family’s reputation was well-known. The bodyguards had certainly heard of them. The lead man noticed the frightened glance some of them cast towards a nearby black sedan, which hadn’t opened its doors yet.
Indeed, the young master of the Huang Family sat inside, along with the Four Young Masters of Peng City and Leisure. If they continued this fight, these skilled bodyguards wouldn’t hesitate. Their young master’s family would provide shelter.
With that in mind, the sedan door swung open. Xia Le, holding a baton, stepped out alongside the Four Young Masters. They wore grins, ready to unleash their fury.
Due to the vans blocking their view, Xia Le and the Four Young Masters hadn’t immediately seen Xia Yu lying unconscious. Their attention was divided among the twenty-odd men they faced.
Soon, an overpassing driver kindly called the authorities.
Lin Jie brushed off the threats from the lead man: “What are the Huangs? Go ahead, cripple them, but don’t k*ll them. When we pull through this, I’ll get you out.”
No hesitation remained when Lin Jie spoke. Holding their batons, the bodyguards charged. Xia Le was originally eager to join the fray but was stopped by Lin Jie, “Not yet. They can still fight back. We’ll take our turn soon.”
Seeing that the fight was imminent, Xia Le rushed to Xia Yu’s side. She shook Xia Yu vigorously, “Hey, hey, Little Yu, what’s wrong? Wake up!”
But Xia Yu lay lifeless. No response, seemingly dead.
Having seen such scenes before, Lin Jie knew rushing in with emotions wouldn’t help. He grasped Xia Le’s arm and said to a bodyguard named Long, “Go to the hospital with her and the injured. I’ve got this.”
Long nodded and carried Xia Yu to a car. As they left, the fight began. By the time it ended, all twenty-one men were disarmed or disabled, crying out in agony.
The Huang Family made no exceptions. They enjoyed watching their opponents suffer.
Watching the commotion, Xia Le couldn’t bring himself to strike the lead man—his first time in such a scenario. Rattled, he asked Lin Jie, “Think about how they hurt you and your brother. How can you bear to do this?”
Understanding dawned, and Xia Le clenched his baton tighter.
Approaching the beaten lead man, Xia Le raised his steel baton and mimicked the Four Young Masters, smashing it onto the lead man’s broken arm.
“Ah!”
Anger surged as Xia Le pounded repeatedly. bl**d poured from the man’s mouth. Finally, Xia Le let go of the bloodied baton.
Seeing Xia Le’s actions, the Four Young Masters breathed a sigh of relief. Better to incapacitate than to k*ll. In society, vengeance should know limits.
“We’re the enforcement team. Drop your weapons and cooperate.”
The bodyguards quickly complied, knowing the routine well.
Captain of the Enforcement Team observed the Four Young Masters. This was clearly a vendetta. He said, “All resolved. Return home and await instructions.”
After ensuring the Four Young Masters’ safe departure, Captain shifted focus to the wounded men. The Four Young Masters’ brutality was evident.
Knowing they could go, the Four Young Masters hastily left for the hospital.
Lin Jie couldn’t help but think about recruiting Xia Yu after all this. He saved her life, surely she owed him a debt of gratitude.
