### Chapter 194: Trouble Strikes Again ~
During their journey, the Four Rich Men of Peng City got in touch with their families again, requesting another batch of bodyguards to come over for protection. Seems like those uninjured bodyguards would be detained for some time and couldn’t continue working.
Thus, the one driving the car for the Four Rich Men of Peng City and Xia Yu turned out to be a law enforcement team member. Otherwise, considering they were all minors and even if Lin Jie could drive, it’d be a clear no-go in front of the law enforcement.
After finally dropping off Lin Jie and his posse to the incoming bodyguards, the law enforcement team member left, ending his mission. Considering Xia Le’s current state of mind, Lin Jie didn’t waste time; he made a call straight away to summon the hospital dean.
Surely enough, he had just enough clout to ensure the supply of medical equipment and drugs flowed smoothly for the hospital, so the dean had no choice but to oblige.
With the dean’s assistance, things should be more manageable now, right?
Lin Jie continued interrogating the situation, “How is that boy who my bodyguards delivered earlier doing? Is there any danger to his life?”
“The boy? You mean girl, don’t you? I took care of everything before you arrived. The girl suffered extensive soft tissue injuries and had moderate pulmonary contusions, but she’s out of the woods now.”
Right, when the many injured bodyguards from the Lin family arrived, the dean was already on top of the situation. No wonder Lin Jie was asking these specific questions now.
The dean is just an administrator, not a medical professional; hence, nobody found it strange that he mistook Xia Yu for a boy.
Seeing no point in arguing and explaining further, Lin Jie cut straight to the chase by asking the dean to lead the way to Xia Yu’s room.
### Vip404 Ward
Unexpectedly, the assigned security detail with the codename “Dragon,” who was guarding outside as per Lin Jie’s instruction, respectfully stepped aside as the dean led Lin Jie and the others into the ward.
Though Xia Yu was supposed to be resting quietly, the curiosity from the dean and Lin Jie got the better of them—what with them having significant authority. Xia Yu was now wearing a fresh hospital gown, looking peaceful and serene, akin to a sleeping princess.
Thankfully, nothing happened to Xia Yu’s face. Her face remained unblemished, still as adorable as always. When it became apparent she wasn’t waking up anytime soon, Lin Jie turned to the dean and asked, “When do you think she’ll come around?”
Yes, Lin Jie needed her awake fast because his grand plan required her involvement. If Jiang Kekai returned in Xia Yu’s condition, things could get complicated.
The dean sighed before giving a measured reply, “This can’t be rushed; she’ll probably wake tonight or at worst tomorrow.”
“Really? Isn’t there anything quicker?”
“No, there isn’t.”
“Well… okay then.”
Seeing there was no faster method, Lin Jie conceded, hoping Xia Yu would wake up before Jiang Kekai returned and repay her kindness later.
Indeed, Lin Jie knew that Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang had been sent to the capital by the Lin Family for some business. Given the Lin Family’s presence in Peng City, the Rins had naturally kept an eye on things, and thus the departure of Jiang Kekai and her sister for the capital wasn’t exactly discreet.
Hence, Lin Jie knew they weren’t in town, or he might’ve faced another awkward confrontation. In light of this information, the dean was dismissed, while the Four Rich Men and Xia Le decided to stay put and wait.
Perhaps Xia Le’s concern was his brother’s health; thus, Lin Jie gave him a reassuring pat, “It’s fine.”
“Hmm.”
Xia Le looked pensive, pondering something deeply.
After hesitating a while with his phone, Xia Le finally dialed his parents’ number.
Given the gravity of Xia Yu’s accident, Xia Le felt it inevitable they would find out. Whether through a slap or shouting match, he figured it was only a matter of time before his parents learned of the incident. They had finished handling their business matters, ready for lunch with the kids, when Xia Hong received a call—
“Dad, XiaoYu’s in trouble again.”
Xia Le spoke briefly, intending to save details for when his parents arrived. It wouldn’t make sense in a brief phone conversation.
As expected, Xia Hong probed further with a mix of concern, “What happened? How serious is it? Where are you?”
Xia Le glanced at Xiao Yu, still unconscious, and replied honestly, “Xiao Yu is in a coma. We’re currently at Room 404 of Western Heaven Hospital.”
“Got it. I’m heading over immediately. Talk later,” Xia Hong hung up.
Upon learning Xia Yu was hospitalized, Xia Hong grew more anxious, insisting his wife accompany him. “Let’s go, it seems XiaoYu had another incident. She’s in a coma at the hospital now.”
“Oh no…”
Wang Wenjuan choked on her water in disbelief, “How did this happen? Is it serious?”
“I don’t know. Once we get there, I’ll explain it all.”
Wang Wenjuan took it upon herself to call Xia Ling and brief her on the urgency of Xia Yu’s situation, urging her to order food if she got hungry. Xia Ling was not going to be left in the dark; she demanded, “What exactly happened to Xiao Yu? Is it serious? Where is she? I want to see her too.”
Reluctantly, Wang Wenjuan agreed for Xia Hong to detour home for Xia Ling, then proceed to the hospital.
Considering the size of the fight and the presence of law enforcement, Jiang’s bodyguards wouldn’t miss the commotion. Knowing of the good relationship between Xia Yu and the young mistress, Jiang Kekai was promptly informed.
Despite knowing Xia Yu’s great rapport with the young mistress, there was no obligation for Jiang’s bodyguards to help her, since Xia Yu wasn’t explicitly covered under the protection pact. They merely spectated, not wanting to risk themselves for an unreimbursable injury.
As Jiang Kekai received the message, she couldn’t help feeling concerned about Xia Yu’s well-being.
At the moment, Jiang Kekai held a major project bid—a rare opportunity to boost her influence. But suddenly, upon taking a call, her expression darkened. Dragging Jiang Hanhang along, she left the bidding event.
This was Jiang Kekai’s chance that hard work earned. Yet, to see Xia Yu sooner rather than later, she chose to forego the tender offer without hesitation. On her way, she instructed staff to charter a plane and leave as soon as possible.
While money talks, it sure does.
Simultaneously, Xia Hong, Wang Wenjuan, and Xia Ling arrived at Xia Yu’s room, where she remained in a state of unconsciousness.
Observing Xia Yu’s severely weakened state, Xia Hong turned to Xia Le, sternly asking, “Xiao Le, didn’t Xia Yu go with you for exercise today? What happened?”
Naturally, such grave situations prompted Xia Le to be honest—he admitted Xia Yu had stayed home, while he met up with friends. He also recounted the brawl that ensued since such secrets were bound to unravel anyway.
Listening to Xia Le’s explanation, Xia Hong glanced back and forth between Xia Le and the other three young masters. Xia Hong sighed yet again.
Indeed, sending away the two troublesome young ladies, Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang, felt like just yesterday, and Xia Hong suddenly found himself dealing with four young masters, none whom he wanted to cross.
Rich folks had many strings attached, Xia Hong often lamented. Hence, he preferred steering clear of them entirely.
To Xia Le’s surprise, rather than a lecture, Xia Hong simply sighed and said, “It’s fine.”
Just then, the hospital dean personally handed over the patient report, “Here are all the test results for the patient.”
