### Chapter 24: Investment in an Audience Performer
Night Lan pondered for a moment and decided to go say hello.
“White Fish, I want to greet some people I know. Do you want to come along?”
“Aren’t I going to be a bother? You should go by yourself, and I’ll wait here for you.”
“Okay, I’ll be back soon,” said Night Lan, then raced off towards Xi Xia and Uni’s direction. It didn’t take long before she arrived beside them.
The two noticed someone approaching and were surprised to see it was Night Lan.
“Night Lan, did you come to find us?”
“Uh-huh, hi—can I ask a question?”
“What’s your question?”
“You know, I heard that you guys are special Night Watchers. You go where there are Star Eclipses and fight like bounty hunters. Can you tell me why you chose such a dangerous path? I’m curious, but it’s fine if you don’t want to answer.”
Night Lan wasn’t just asking randomly.
Ever since she found out that Xi Xia was a special Night Watcher, this had been gnawing at her mind.
After all, she once had the Rising Sun Theater Group as a target. Completing the mission would’ve probably landed her a hefty reward.
Being an Audience Performer and having a connection, Night Lan felt she had every right to know.
Xi Xia glanced beside her at Uni upon hearing Night Lan’s words.
“Should I tell her?”
“It’s fine. If it’s her, she should understand,” replied Xi Xia confidently to Night Lan.
Xi Xia nodded and started explaining, “Actually, it’s mostly because of Uni. Just her presence made us become wandering Night Watchers across the land.”
Hearing this, Night Lan couldn’t help but focus on Uni.
This blonde loli was very different from Neko Shinna.
Though both had blond hair, their personalities were vastly different.
Uni looked cold and distant, giving off an aura that kept people away, yet she seemed fragile and needy—someone who needed protection. To Night Lan, she looked similar to when Bai Yu was cursed before.
Perhaps she needed a lot of money?
Yes, very likely.
Xi Xia continued, “Uni has a weak body and permanent blindness in one eye. Treating her requires a lot of money, and none of the Night Watcher stars can help her; only modern technology can.
That makes sense…
Xi Xia stroked Uni’s head.
“I’m friends with Uni, so naturally, I won’t let her d*e prematurely. So we do tasks to raise money. It’s a simple reason.”
“Thank you, my curiosity’s satisfied.”
“You’re welcome. This is your reward for giving us beautiful songs. Keep singing more for us. Uni and I look forward to it.”
Uni nodded.
“Yes, your voice is quiet and soothing. I really like it.”
Night Lan, touched and grateful, nodded.
“Uh-huh, thanks for supporting me! I’ll work hard!”
Seeing that cute face, Xi Xia couldn’t help but smile faintly.
“Work hard. Maybe after some time, Uni and I might leave. This job might become invalid, and we’d have to look for another. So, keep working hard.”
“Hmm.”
Night Lan knew the reason.
Xiao Jin had even said to give the theater group a chance.
Even if the theater group performed now, no Night Watchers would step up.
Even if Xi Xia were a special Night Watcher, it wouldn’t make any difference.
With their money troubles, they definitely need a new goal.
“Good luck to you then.”
“Thanks for your blessing.”
They chatted a bit longer and then went their separate ways.
Night Lan came back to White Fish and suddenly remembered something.
“Speaking of which, I wonder if Star Eclipses’ Life Blessing could work on Uni. Stars failed, but maybe Star Eclipses might succeed?”
When Night Lan muttered something, White Fish asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Hmm, just thinking about something…”
She turned back and noticed Xi Xia and Uni were gone.
“Oh? Did they leave already? That’s too bad…”
Always kind to familiar faces, whenever possible, Night Lan tried to help.
For instance, she wanted to try using Star Eclipses’ version of the Life Blessing to heal Uni.
If it worked, Xi Xia and Uni wouldn’t have to scramble for money anymore.
Of course, Night Lan mostly wanted to extend her friend circle and network.
Most importantly, Uni was still a loli!
With that in mind, Night Lan had nothing to worry about.
“Uh-huh, I’ll bring it up next time I see them. They probably won’t leave Yun Chang City soon.”
Thinking thus, Night Lan smiled at White Fish and said, “Let’s continue strolling.”
“Yup~”
—
Days passed, and finally, Xiao Jin received a video call from headquarters.
In the conference room, Xiao Jin and Wang Chao sat facing a large electronic screen showing the image of their leader, the overall Night Watcher Leader.
“Leader.”
Once the call connected, both stood.
Confronting such a figure, even the usually laid-back Wang Chao became serious.
Then the leader spoke.
“Let’s cut to the chase. Xiao Jin, your idea surprises me. To let such a scale of Star Eclipses act freely, do you realize the consequences?”
Xiao Jin calmly replied, “Yes, letting a Star Eclipses organization escape control could cause widespread panic. It’s far worse than multiple Supernova Star Eclipses.”
“Indeed, the worst scenario. So why commit to this if you know the risks?”
“Because of the Audience Performer.”
“I’ve reviewed your uploaded information. The existence of an Audience Performer is indeed remarkable. Being human and blending into the Star Eclipses community, and fostering harmonious interaction, this is unprecedented. But do you trust her?”
“Yes, her character and integrity make me confident she will restrain the Tragic Shadow Theater’s Star Eclipses from harming innocent citizens or causing chaos.”
“What if she breaks her promise?”
“I’ll personally lead a team against them and resign from being a Sunlight Night Watcher. Let fate determine my punishment.”
The person on the screen fell into temporary silence.
“Fine, approved. Remember your words.”
“Understood.”
Xia Jin silently breathed a sigh of relief.
So, things with the Tragic Shadow Theater were under control.
One hoped the Audience Performer wouldn’t disappoint.
Her potential could shake the Star and Star Eclipses world, much like Xia Lan, the Extraordinary Star holder, at the base.
For the greater good.
Next, the leader mentioned the other Extraordinary Star Holder’s status.
“Now, how is the situation with the other Extraordinary Star Holder?”
“You mean Night Lan? She’s doing well,” replied Xiao Jin.
“Have her visit headquarters sometime.”
“Got it.”
—
Thus began their further adventures.
