Chapter 197: Shut the Door and Beat the Dog
Jiang Kekai approached Xia Yu’s bedside, gently stroking her icy-cold face as she lay asleep like a princess who didn’t want to wake up.
Her expression turning colder and colder, Jiang Kekai then turned to Xia Le and Xia Yu’s family members and demanded, “Can someone tell me what’s going on here?”
Indeed, Jiang Kekai was genuinely furious now. If they had laid a hand on her, she could have understood. But those guys actually attacked Xia Yu who couldn’t fight back? That was too much.
To no one’s surprise, Xia Ling, Xia Le, Xia Hong, and Wang Wenjuan were all terrified. Xia Yu wasn’t Jiang Kekai’s relative or anything. Was she really so angry?
Jiang Hanhang quietly walked up to Xia Ling and took her little hand, as if to reassure Xia Ling that her sister wasn’t being mean to her.
Xia Hong was the first to recover his composure. With a stern look, he replied to Jiang Kekai, “It’s the Huang Family from the capital city. They’re the ones who beat up Little Le earlier.”
“The Huang Family? What kind of trash is that? Where are these people now?”
Jiang Kekai remained incredibly angry, but in her mind, she had already formulated multiple plans for retaliation against the Huang Family from the capital city. “They’re currently at the Law Enforcement Squad.”
Xia Le said this because he felt that besides him, no one else knew that these people were still detained at the Law Enforcement Squad.
Bracing himself, Xia Le shared this information with Jiang Kekai and hoped she would give them a good thrashing to avenge Xia Yu.
“They’re caught by the Law Enforcement Squad? That’s great.”
As Jiang Kekai spoke, an eerie smile appeared on her face, as if dark evil mist surrounded her forehead.
“Hanhan, stay with Xia Ling and Xia Yu here. Big Sister is off to handle some things.”
As Jiang Kekai prepared to leave, she was practically leaping with eagerness to deal with the fools who dared defy her.
Clearly, Jiang Kekai anticipated what she was about to do. However, just as she was about to step out the door, Xia Hong firmly declared, “Are you going to see those people? I’m coming with you.”
True, his two children had been beaten up by the same bunch, and one of them was severely injured. It would be unjustifiable if he, their father, did nothing.
Knowing Xia Hong’s thoughts, Jiang Kekai made no objections: “Following me? You’d better prepare yourself mentally for seeing things you shouldn’t.”
And with that, Jiang Kekai and Xia Hong left the VIP room, room number 404.
Leaving the room without hesitation, Jiang Kekai immediately pulled out her phone, powering it on to call the captain of the Law Enforcement Squad. The captain, who had been waiting for quite a while, was absolutely thrilled when he saw Jiang’s call.
“Miss Jiang, how can I assist you?”
“Are those people still with you?”
“Yes.”
“Well, it’s now six thirty. Let them go at seven sharp. Then have them contact someone to pick them up right away.”
Listening to Jiang Kekai’s conversation with the Law Enforcement Squad captain, Xia Hong found it odd. Were they really going to release those people? Seeing Jiang Kekai’s demeanor, he suspected she was planning some sort of vengeance.
But in the next second, Xia Hong understood what Jiang Kekai meant—it was all part of a plan.
After ending her call with the captain, Jiang Kekai dialed another number: “Ah Cheng, get hold of the bodyguards guarding the neighborhood. Instruct them to set up roadblocks at every exit point of the Law Enforcement Squad. I need to avenge Xia Yu. Don’t listen to anyone, not even my dad or grandpa.”
“But Miss Jiang, is this really a good idea? They are your own family.”
“You don’t need to know. They never take care of me anyway. Have they ever considered how I feel living alone? It’s only during moments like this that they interfere. Now, one of my closest friends has been severely injured, and if I don’t avenge her, none of you will have a job. I guarantee it.”
After a moment’s thought, Jiang added, “If something goes wrong, I’ll take responsibility. Just follow my orders.”
Finally, Ah Cheng sighed, “Alright, Miss Jiang, just be careful. I’ll sort things out before you arrive.”
With that, Jiang Kekai concluded her conversation with the head of the Jiang family’s bodyguards and hurriedly headed for the parking lot.
Seeing Zhao Wei standing by the car, who seemed to already know his orders, Jiang Kekai didn’t waste words. She opened the car door and got into the passenger seat first. Xia Hong, meanwhile, settled into the back seat.
Xia Hong figured driving himself wouldn’t suit the situation, so sitting in Jiang’s car was preferable since it wasn’t his first time riding in it. Zhao Wei started the car and whisked Jiang Kekai away quickly, following her silent instructions as always.
On the way, Jiang Kekai suddenly stretched her neck towards the backseat and spotted something. She then coldly told Xia Hong, “Retrieve the black toolbox under your seat.”
“Under the chair?”
Compliantly, Xia Hong checked beneath his seat and found a variety of weapons: telescopic batons, knives, machetes, and large wrenches…
Jiang Kekai needed the black toolbox, so Xia Hong grabbed it and pulled it out. “Think this is it?” he asked, but before he could open it out of curiosity, Jiang Kekai’s cold voice interrupted.
“Unless you want to d*e, do not open it. Give it to me.”
Gazing up, Xia Hong confirmed he was looking at the most furious face he’d ever seen on Jiang.
This moment made him realize that not following Jiang’s order could very well end his life.
Thus, Xia Hong reluctantly suppressed his curiosity and handed the partly opened toolbox over to Jiang.
Zhao Wei glanced at the black toolbox in the rearview mirror and seemed ready to say something but held back.
Holding the toolbox on her thigh, Jiang Kekai swiftly unzipped it.
Then, sitting in the back, Xia Hong realized what was inside: g*n parts… It was indeed a firearm, a Glock pistol.
Finally, after attaching a silencer to the pistol, jiang began loading the magazines with fifteen 9mm bullets.
At this point, Xia Hong couldn’t help but acknowledge that what Jiang had warned before about psychological preparation applied here. She really was crazy enough to k*ll for her son.
A sudden pang of unease stirred within him, but he decided to try and talk her out of it, “Stay calm, don’t be a fool. It’s not worth it.”
“Stop!”
Suddenly, Jiang shouted.
Zhao Wei reacted quickly, slammed on the brakes, and brought the car to a smooth halt by the roadside.
Facing Xia Hong, whose hand was still outstretched, Jiang’s icy glare pierced through him. “Don’t you remember what I said in the hospital? If you can’t accept this, then get out. I’m giving you a chance.”
One must admit, despite being just a middle schooler, Jiang’s demeanor made her sound like a mature adult at this moment, frightening Xia Hong once again.
After hesitating, Xia Hong decided to press on, hoping to persuade Jiang: “Honestly speaking, what you’re doing is too reckless. It’ll ruin everything.”
“Out! If you can’t accept it, get out!”
Jiang’s voice boomed like that of a madwoman.
Seeing Jiang’s resolve, Xia Hong knew his pleas were useless. He sighed deeply and muttered, “I… I’ll accompany you all.”
Thus, Jiang Kekai’s procession moved forward once more.
Meanwhile, under the personal arrangement of the Law Enforcement Squad captain, Huang Family members from Peng City arrived precisely at seven o’clock in four vans to pick up the prisoners at the nearby crime infirmary.
The Huang Family leader was pleased to think the captain had relented and given them an opportunity to save face, with one even offering to buy him drinks later.
Only after they left did the captain scoff, “Ask me for drinks after you’re gone? We’ll see.”
Finally relieved of this burden, the captain removed his hat, finished his shift, and muttered, “We’re heading east.”
“Roger.”
“Roger.”
“Understood.”
Jiang listened to the reports through earbuds and immediately opened her map, then pinpointed a location, enlarging it on the screen. “Drive them into Tianyun Tunnel and intercept them there.”
“Copy.”
“Copy.”
“Copy.”
Actually, without Jiang’s guards chasing them, the Huang Family intended to leave Peng City and escort the injured back to the capital. This inadvertently aided Jiang’s plan.
Perhaps due to tension, neither the Huang Family nor the extra cars noticed they were being followed.
After plunging into the tunnel with four vans, other Jiang vehicles rapidly followed, blocking both ends to prevent any entry.
Trapping the dogs and shutting the door!
